I sent a DM and received a DM back.
I am going out of town on the afternoon of the 14th and want to intercept the delivery before I leave. Asked which shipping company, and they answered.

Why don't ya ask yourself? Their Twitter handle is @VZWSupport.

because I don't care that much/it does matter who they use. and you are probably lying.

If Verizon doesn't ship until the 21st they will lose a lot of customers? Not a chance - they won't lose more than a rounding error. Very few people have their choice of provider so close to a coin toss that a week would make a difference. Even fewer are in that position over choice of phone.

ok just to round everything up, nobody has a delivery date of 10/14 when you check the pre order status only ship date of 10/14 or later?

I just tweeted them I'll let you know what they say.

that is clearly a canned response for any inquiry about shipping. They do, in fact, normally use fedex. But they definitely used UPS for the iphone 4 launch. I don't know why it matters, though.

Yes, but confirmation emails gave a DELIVERY date of 10/14.

Also, they did they same thing when they launched the iphone 4. They listed the ship date as 2/10 (launch date) when in fact people got them up to 3 days early.

It seems like you guys are completely ignoring what the original email from Verizon said when we all ordered. "Thank you for your order. It is being processed and will be shipped to arrive on 10/14/11." Obviously the tracking system on their website isn't the best because it switched back and forth from the 14th to 21st back to 14th as the expected ship day for some people. Trust me if you lost sleep in the wee hours of Friday morning to pre-order the thing you are most likely getting it on Friday.

You "don't care" but "it does matter who they use"! Aha!

"......probably lying" Sure, 'cos I have nothing better to do than to provide false info to people who are in the same boat as me anxiously waiting for the iPhone 4S. You're a genius!
I guess I can post a print screen of their response.

All of this.

Someone already posted a response from VZW that is really just their generic response to any shipping questions. My point was that don't really get why anyone really cares what company they use to get the phones to you.

Ok so I know this sounds like a stupid question but I pre ordered at noon on Saturday, does this mean I will probably get mine Friday or the 21st...

i justed tweeted vzw support they said the verizon reps are going by the current pre orders and if you pre ordered on the 7th it should arrive *by* the 14th.

FedEx delivers to my house in the morning, UPS late afternoon. Makes a difference if you don't want to be trapped at home all day waiting for a delivery.

For the folks out there that pre-ordered the iPhone 4 for VZW in Feb do you remember when we were all on here trying to figure out where the orders were shipping from??? I think we pooled everybody's "Order Location" # that is listed in the conf. email and got it figured out somehow. I can't seem to find the email I had earlier this year for the iP4 but if I remember correctly I think I have the same OL as I did last year. D772001 It was shipped from PA I believe. (Don't know why I remember all that...)

Ah ok. would you recommending canceling the preorder then? no point really of preordering i guess :/

no, I would keep it unless you are planning on waiting in line somewhere on Friday. That way you know you will get it at some point without stalking brick and mortar stores everyday to see if they got stock.

Mine came out of Memphis or through it anyways. Im pretty sure they all came from different hubs depending on your location. But we all got them a day early and everyone was acting just like this. All paranoid and frantic about it and all ended up like it was supposed to.
