Verizon 4S Preorder Status Thread

EXPECTED SHIP DATE 10/14?! Shouldn't it be here on that day
Read the rest of the thread, that's the same status for all of us with Verizon preorders. Expect your status to change to something more accurate by Wednesday.
So I checked my order status on Verizon and it says,
We received your order and it is in process. Expected Ship Date: 10/14/2011

I just got off the phone with verizon to try to clear this **** up. I was told that ALL pre-orders made through verizonwireless.com will ship out on 10/21. She told me no one should expect them this week. She did mention that if you ordered through apple thats its a different story.
Let us look at timing. The 14th is a Friday. If it ships out on the 13th to arrive on the 14th, fedex/ups does deliver that day.
If it ships on 14th and is standard overnight (not Saturday delivery), it will be sitting in some FedEx / UPS warehouse and delivered on the 17th.
I hope you are right though.
I doubt she knows what she's talking about, but if that's true then it should say that on their site. The point of a pre-order is to get it on launch day.
Agreed. It is pointless to do a pre-order and then ship them after you can buy them in the store.
I preOrdered for the Verizon iPhone... it said also said it would ship on the launch date. I got it 2 days before the official launch date.
Wow, I pre-ordered off verizon.com because apple.com wasn't fixed yet and the second I completed my pre-order apples site was back up...and if they ship them out to come on the 21'st im going to be so pissed that I didnt wait.
She evidently doesn't know what she is talking about. Verizon would never hear the end of that if that happened. They would lose a ton customers. The website still says "Pre-order October 7. Available October 14.
website shows new orders shipping 10/20 last time i checked, that is for orders entered now which what the vz rep was probably referring to not preorders made the first day
I was with att for the first iphone 4 pre-order and all the people that ordered directly from apple.com were shipped and were posting there tracking updates. They were coming from china. I pre ordered from att.com and we got our phones shipped after apple.com Turned out they were shipped from the US not CHINA.
we will have them no later than the 14th. the reps don't have any more information than we do, and Verizon always words the confirmation letters funny for pre orders so you are always unsure when you will get it.
calm down everyone. they did this to me back in February. I thought i was getting it 3 days after the launch day and I was pissed. I got it 2 days before launch.

I'm in the same status with Verizon (indicating to be shipped on the 14th). I ordered about 5:00am on the 7th.
I can't imagine it would really ship on the 14th. I think it's more likely that Verizon's site isn't set up to give this information as freely and in as real time as Apple. Frankly I'm not expecting good information until they hand over a tracking number.
I'm cool if it doesn't get here until the following Monday, heck I was thrilled that I got to keep my unlimited data plan. But I'll be really pissed if they actually screwed up so bad that I wouldn't have until the 21st.

I agree. Being able to keep my unlimited data plan was one of the reasons I made this purchase. I am very happy for that. If they take that away the gloves come off.
One of the things you'll learn quickly is that Verizon reps don't know what they're talking about. In fact, no rep does. Why do you think I can call Apple and ask about adding AppleCare+ and get 10 different answers? No one knows anything. They all guess and they are all equally as clueless.
But there has to be a chance that one of them knows something. There's like a physics law or something for that. Maybe if you asked 12 reps.
If absolutely no one that ordered from Verizon has the phone on the 14th then why do they even bother offering pre-orders...it doesn't make sense. The point of a pre-order is to guarantee that every person who does, gets the product on the release date. Apple needs to start pre-orders a lot sooner than a week before launch day.
