dont fall for it....
Apple does not want phones arriving early. this is all part of a huge promotional blitz. remember they want to sell phones until the next Iphone comes out. They want launch day to be as big and chaotic as possible. they want lines outside of stores and they certainly want internet buzz. Kind of funny how each year a "reader" of a well known tech publication "luckily" receives an early delivery?
My phone was shipped UPS 2nd Day Air. The largest UPS air hub in the world is about 20 minutes from my house in Louisville. However, my phone originated in Memphis, TN and appears to be on a truck heading for Louisville (it has already passed through Nashville, TN). I guess 2nd Day AIR is just a clever name for "we will send it the cheapest way possible in order to make sure it takes 2 days to deliver."
I'm not mad, just confused as to why that wasn't planned better. If they have a pallet-load of iPhones in Louisville (which they obviously do based on other peoples' tracking updates), they could have shipped mine by UPS Ground and it would have gotten here in 1 business day.
