Anyone know how long does it take to get this activation process going through? I just submitted the activation, however I am not getting any cell phone service!?!? Also, I did not receive any kind of Welcome to Verizon package for my phone!

Interesting. How did that work? I thought you could not pick up a phone when it was out for delivery. How did you know to go to the sorting center?
There is a number on the back of the note that they leave. You call that, schedule a hold, then give them your phone number. They have somebody from the local hub call you to tell you where to go and when you can come get it. You have to wait for the truck to return to the facility before you pick it up.

mine was very fast, not even a minute. my mom and i both got phones and you had to make sure it was the right one, the number is already set in the phone somehow.

Horrible experience. Got my phone at about noon today after I finally woke up from UPS even though I cancelled my preorder. It wouldn't activate so I took it into the Verizon store and they said they couldn't even find the phone in their system so they couldn't activate it. Long story short I had to buy another phone at a store 45 miles away because my local store didn't have any in stock. Already hate Verizon and I've only been with them for about three hours. Should have just stuck with AT&T and my unlimited data.

It completed the activation, however its not letting me make any calls neither I get the network id on the phone. I am a new customer.

Whats the latest anyone has goten a UPS delivery?

Mine phone was been out for delivery since 7 A.M., and still has not shown up. It's almost 7PM here in California

I got my 32gb white phone! It was fun to unbox and set up. Now it's just a phone, and it's sort of underwhelming. Oh well.

Did anyone who preordered one in the Verizon store receive any notification or the actual phone itself? My order still says processing... and no tracking ID yet. I'm thinking I may be better off canceling and heading to a store.

Got mine, but its set to my dad's number instead of mine. I have att so I went through the port in process, got charged the subsidized price so I know I didnt screw up... apple site said to just activate it then call, so I went through activate but it tells me it couldnt activate. Guess I'll wait on hold for a few years :|

Well, ladies and gents, I have successfully retrieved my 64GB white iPhone 4S from the lovely people at the downtown Los Angeles UPS Customer Center after I screwed up my own address (I'm smooth, you're jealous, I know).

Best of luck to any of you still waiting! Enjoy!

after UPS leaving a note on my door because there was nobody to sign (even though I pre-authorized the release), I tried to have them hold it at UPS for pick up tonight. They were able to accomodate and said it would be there between 7:30 and 8:30, which I thought was odd cause they close at 7. When I got there at 7:50, there was a huuuuge line - probably 150 people. I waited for about 50 minutes, then had to leave to pick up my kids from school (evening class) and asked one of the workers whether they'd still be here in 30 minutes - they smiled and said, "I'm sure we still be". A total of 2+ hours later, I finally picked up my wife's iphone. (would have helped if they had maybe 2 people working the line instead of one)

I thought it was ironic because I pre-ordered to AVOID the lines and I ended up having to wait in one anyways. All things considered, people were in pretty good spirits and cordial in their conversations (which made things easier). Happily setting up the iPhone for the wife now - she's going to love it (I hope).

This is B.S.

Absolutely ridiculous experience. I am NEVER pre-ordering an iPhone again. With all the BS that has happened to me this past weak BECAUSE of this phone, I will never pre-order again.

Anyways, I finally got my iPhone 4S today (first one ever, I WAS excited, now I just want it to work). After turning it on and going through the set up assistant, I thought it was working. Nope. I looked at the Activation Guide that came with the package and it said nothing about a number to call or anything. Just to follow the prompts after you select a wireless network or connecting to iTunes. but nothing happened afterwards, just if I agree to the terms and conditions.

After agreeing, I was able to start using the phone, but I had no cellular connection. Looked online, found out that I have to call *228. I called several times and each time: "Sorry, could not activate your phone, please try again or call (800) 922-0204." Called them and couldn't get through. I had to go to work so I couldn't call back.

Now, I've reset the phone to factory settings, went through the set up assistant again (again, no prompt on how to switch cellular service from my old phone to the new iPhone), dialed *228 again, and still said I couldn't activate my phone.

What gives? This is B.S. I should've just gone into the store to buy it in person instead of ordering online. I've had the phone for 12 hrs and have not been able to use it. HELP!

just call *611 and talk to customer service. I was up and running in 5 minutes and htey'll walk you thorugh activation. Your phone has to be in their system for *228 to work and mine wasn't. Quick fix!

I ordered mine at the Verizon store, on the 7th, about 4:30 pm central. My phone arrived about 6:15 last night.
I had gotten a shipment notification e-mail on Wed.

I bought mine in a AT&T store. NO LINE OR WAITING. My wife bought hers at a Verizon store. NO LINE AND NO WAITING. Still had plenty left at 4pm. I don't fall for pre-order jargon. She's silly because she pre ordered and it will not arrive till the 21st. She canceled it.

Verizon doesn't want you to buy at store and then cancel the pre order.

I did the pre-order and mine arrived around 7:00PM on Friday. It took a strange route though. It shipped from California to KY and then back to CA for delivery to San Francisco. It did arrive Friday as promised so no big deal.

I also heard 2nd hand that there was almost no line at the San Francisco Apple Store. Is that right? Anyone happen to pass the store and see if there is little to no line?

I'm loving this phone. Siri is awesome. Reminders are fantastic, especially that you can speak your requests. I'm using Siri all the time now. It's so much faster to just tell the phone what you want. Play my favorites for example, and the Favorites playlist begins to play. I don't have to tap music, then playlists, and find the one I want.

I think the people that are disappointed are missing out on a truly great upgrade.

Mine got stolen out of the warehouse, i don't even have one to bitch about.... ****ing FedEx bastards
