I opted for Verizon totalmaxcareplusawesomeness, but may see if I can opt out and go AppleCare outright. Thoughts?

How is that possible lol my email sent at 1159 and my number was 96k. Do you think it has to do with when the order started?

I tried to order online and kept getting an error message. I didn't know what else to do because I wasn't sure if it was the backlog or an account issue (since others were getting through fine). So I got on with chat. They said they were pacing the order. It was a little suspect because she said I could bill the tax to the account, which I had heard is not possible. Then said I had to talk to billing in order to confirm the bill to account. So I called them and they found no history of the order that was in progress. So I had to start all over and got an October 7 estimated arrival.

Hoping that it ends up earlier. I have extremely bad luck so I knew I figured it wouldn't go well but that's still a pretty astronomically bad performance by VZW.

Probably. Because I'm sure they can only add AC online with the device in the same order. But it wouldn't hurt to ask or try.

Ehh I'm not gonna risk it. The model I ordered is already back ordered through VZW until 10/7.

I'll just fork over the additional $30 in a month or two. Makes me wonder, would Apple honor those?

did you have better luck with yours?

I didn't speak to a chat rep until after I had ordered through Apple. The chat rep told me that they were having problems with two-year upgrades on their website, though I suspect they are hiding it on purpose to push people to device payment plans or buying outright.

Verizon grandfathered unlimited data customer - just ordered through Apple.com for a full price 64GB Space Gray phone; Delivers on 9/25.

So easy. Glad that I could order from Apple directly instead of Verizon and keep my unlimited data.

I work at an apple specialist and the amount of asurion (sp?) phones we see with aftermarket parts was enough to turn me off of insurance through carriers. But AC doesn't cover theft/loss. Pretty sure the deductible is cheaper than the claims are.

the chat guy was not helpful. he basically said that he couldn't even get the 2 year pricing for me, much less do a transfer + upgrade. did you have better luck with yours?

My chat experience was awful but the phone people are there and they got the order placed.

I've only had to use them a few times...my fault of course. I'll see if I can opt out. Sign me up for some AC+

hey guys need your help, is there any way of preordering this without it being on any kind of service. I want an iPhone 6s verizon off contract with no service. Can I use the mobile one for this?

That's why I was cautious. Apple is pretty good about bending rules like that for customers though.

Yeah I'm one to know. Currently going through a return for my Apple Watch and all the bands. Broke out in a rash and engineers said all models would cause the same issue. I'm gonna try a stainless model regardless, but I'm still sad at the thought I might not be able to wear an Apple Watch again.

Hopefully this new phone will make me slightly less sad. :(

Did your unlimited plan show up as "Unlimited iPhone"? I am assuming that refers to my grandfathered unlimited data plan. The rest of the plan info matches my current 700 talk minutes, etc.

I feel like I remember some of the early October people getting bumped to the release date and receiving it early (in past releases). Is my memory correct?

Yes, it shows as unlimited iPhone. Honestly, I'll be watching this like a hawk, but I don't think it modified our plans in any way. It was just listing values that came back from Verizon's database as to the present features on our plan. I'll be popping the SIM in my 6 into the 6S when it arrives.
