Decided to go ahead and pay off my phone. Just got it in December (iPhone 7+ 128GB). That brings my new monthly total to $84 - $85 a month for unlimited data and unlimited tethering. Before last December, when I was with Sprint, I was paying about $30.00 more a month for the unlimited without tethering and crappy speeds.

So glad Verizon brought back unlimited data.

Same. I'm very happy. I had a Droid 1 back in the day of the original Verizon unlimited. I remember uploading photos to backup on 3G. Now... I can do that again. It's bringing back so many memories. WiFi Assist is on... turning off WiFi at college (cuz wifi sucks at college atm (semester just started)) ... ahhhhhh. :)

Tickled pink over the fact that I COULD turn on cellular photo backup on Google Photos if I wanted.

Edit: :D I'm going to turn on Photo backup over cellular. (leaving video backup for wifi only).

I'm going to wait for now. I pay exactly $83.59 with a 27% discount for a single line with the 12gb+Carry over. Once they start accepting the discounts then I may consider switching.

I hopped on that carryover as soon as it came out. I was so disappointed to see HOW they implemented that... can't use rollover until you use all your data for the month (meaning the next month you won't have any rollover). It should have been rollover FIRST then use your data.

That's how rollover has always been implemented - I still have rollover minutes on my AT&T plan and it works the same way, except they roll over for a year instead of just month to month. When they started promoting rollover data I was sure it would be as much of a joke. It's mainly a psychological thing, and only really useful for that one month you have abnormally high usage.

Ah ok - thanks for the info - did not know that. Never had rollover before. That makes me feel a little better. Agree 100% with your "it would be as much of a joke" lol.

I went to the Verizon website to see the pricing for a line.

It was $65 for the plan + $36 for the phone + $20 monthly fee = $121 monthly.
Well, you are counting the device cost in that too, which is always a separate unrelated thing to the actual plan cost.

So would this new plan be better than what I currently have?

I pay $92.00 for 2 lines, one with unlimited data and the other is a dumb phone. That's with a 22% discount. I've had this plan forever.

That's sneaky; VZW can get around the ~2% merchant fee credit cards charge them (and us customers can't get points or other credit card rewards).
While I agree that it sucks not being able to use a credit card for that, it's not really sneaky given that technically speaking Verizon offers you a discount for doing that.
Question about autopay. They want you to pick a date that it will be paid the same day every month. My bill has been due at different dates thus far. How the heck do we pick the correct autopay date?

My bill due has ALWAYS been on the same day. How strange is that (your situation). I just chose 3 days before my bill is due.

You're probably being forced to select a date because that's when they take the money out of your account (via debit card or direct withdrawal from your checking account). I don't think they can just randomly pluck money out of your account without your consent and specific dates.
I've read somewhere that you can still pay your bill using a credit card if you want to--basically you can sign up for auto-pay and then at any point before auto-pay would kick in (like 3 days before the bill, or whatever you set it to) just pay off your balance using a credit card and that's it (auto-pay wouldn't kick in since there wouldn't be anything due at that point).

That's normally how these plans work and have worked before. T-Mobile did something different and special with including the taxes and all that, and they advertise that point specifically because it's not usual and different.

I think pretty much all prepaid carriers do this.

Really? I still have my 15% discount according to the website after upgrading today on the VZW Website.

Estimated bill calc still includes the discount too.

Yeah, I have veteran discount as well or I probably wouldn't consider this.

So nothing like this?
Do you know what that was for? Perhaps just prorated charges related to switching plans in the middle of the cycle (if backdating or future dating wasn't used), or something else?

Yeah back in my original post I guessed that's what it was. Its close to the difference between the two months' charges, but too large to be the difference between my original February bill and my new one.

You don't see it when you sign up, either. You can only get this breakdown if you click on the "View my next bill summary" link in the first email they send you after signing up. I still haven't been charged for anything, so who knows what will happen...

No brainer for me after going through the numbers. I'm paying $79 a month after taxes and fees for the 5GB plan. The unlimited plan will cost me $89. $65 for the plan since I'm not under contract +$20 access fee and then $5 taken off bill since I am on autopay, the total is $80 a month. Add $9 for taxes and fees, that's a grand total of $89.

$80 supposedly includes line access.
Yea, it does. The post you quoted was made before the specifics were confirmed.
[doublepost=1487032875][/doublepost]Will be interesting to see how many people (new and current) subscribers signed up for the new plan, not to mention how system holds up under the increased data load.

To be technical it is 65 + 20 lines access - 5 Autopay credit. Giving you your 80 number, you don't get that unless Autopay enrolled.

Not sure why but for me and some others it's advertising at $65. MUST be a glitch
