I've tried several times to get them to budge on the $40 contract access fee and they won't move it's frustrating.
Why would they budge on that? The fee is there to basically make up for the subsidy they provide on a cheaper device for signing up for a contract (so that the subsidy could be recuperated basically over the term of the contract).

I had to talk to them 3 times about getting my plan fixed. One Rep said by the end of the day it would be done. Didn't happen. Got on chat and they said would be done within the hour and that the system was overloaded and screwed it up the first time. That didn't happen either. The 3rd call the lady got it fixed and I asked about the $40 fee and she got it approved to be dropped to $20. I just checked the app and it is showing as $20 so they were true to their word this time.

So for those if us who live in smaller areas would we not see much of any deprioritization at all after we hit 22 gigs?

Yes but it has a cost, which is a trade-in. If that's what you wanna do, then do it.

You have a .01% of ever getting deprioritized, unless VZW implements a strict policy, which I doubt.

So they're going to implement that after everyone gets on new policy?

I think if they do and customers rise up en masse, they'll be forced to pull back. My guess is a similar deprioritization policy as the other carriers.

Time will tell, though

I was quoted by a rep that it would be $65+$20 SEVERAL times in the duration of the phone call. Turns out it was $65+$40 which I didn't know about with the contract pricing. I tried to do this online and I am sure it would have said it, but I couldn't access my account. Anyways, I found a supervisor today that was willing to work with me and correct things with what I was quoted.

Sounds like a mistake on the representative's part. Seems that they worked it out with you.

Hey all.... Last night... for the first time in 5 years? (since Verizon's last unlimited) I updated an app from the app store on LTE. <giggles> Was the greatest feeling ever. Amazingly fast as well! Loving this unlimited plan!

Anyone else have an idea on where to check the data usage for the Mobile Hotspot? Nothing on the app tells you how much your hotspot usage is.

Wow yeah I'd like to know this too. Other than the built in iPhone monitoring, I don't see anywhere where this is reported in the app or the website.

The 10 GB is related to 4G/LTE tethering use, which simply becomes 3G after that. The mobile data doesn't have that 10 GB limit (it can be subject to deprioritization after 22 GB of data used on a line, but it would still get data).

After over 25 pages of this discussion where this has been brought up on most pages, how is it that people are still getting it wrong?
Basically because it makes no sense why an evil corporation like Verizon would do that. They have been pounding their unlimited data customers in the arse for years now with rate increases and other punishments, so why all of a sudden have a change of heart and LOWER those people's bills?

To stop more customers from leaving and attract more new customers in an environment with noticeably increased competition that they are feeling more and more? Rather basic business/economics in play there.

Agreed. I'm one of those Verizon customers that was pretty close to leaving. Now? Heck no.

With my iPhone 7 plus I was able to add the "My Verizon" widget so when I swipe left it shows me how much data total usage I have used.
True. It doesn't show tether data specifically, which is important, if one wants to know if the speed that is being achieved is due to exceeding the monthly limit, poor cell reception, or other factors.

"4G LTE only. We may manage your network usage to ensure a quality experience for all customers, and may prioritize your data behind some Verizon customers during times/places of network congestion. Not available for machine-to-machine services. Mobile hotspot/tethering reduced to 3G speeds after 10GB/month; domestic data roaming at 2G speeds; int'l data reduced to 2G speeds after 500MB/day. If more than 50% of your talk, text or data usage in a 60-day period is in Canada or Mexico, use of those services in those countries may be removed or limited. Discounts not available."

It almost feels like it's missing something in the beginning there where "4G LTE only." seems like a sentence fragment. It also doesn't mention anything about 22 GB/line/mo in relation to prioritizing data.

Well I've done it. I've gave up my grandfathered udp plan I've had for years. I sure hope I don't regret it. I gave it up so I could order the iPad Pro 12.9 to my plan. My husband and mom now have unlimited even though my mom don't have a smartphone. I may need to get her one now lol.

I am making device payments also including the iPad so my bill will be outrageous. It already is though. Also the sales rep said that the depriortization after 22 gb would happen if a lot of people was trying to use data in the same area at the same time such as a ball game etc. and of course hot spot after 10 gb will slow down to 3G speeds. I hate that though.

The Verizon CS on live chat is telling me that the tethering data is lumped in with the phone data total, which doesn't make sense to me. If what she said is true, we got no way of knowing how much tether data we have used.

Just now:
MEGAN: I definitely understand your concern, being that the unlimited plan is a fairly new plan that is actually a really good question.
MEGAN: I am currently looking on the account to see if this information is available, If not I will fill out a form for this option to get added to be able to see.
Thank you very much
MEGAN: My pleasure, apple doesn't have alot of phone setting to choose from .I know on our android devices there is a setting especially for the hot spot usage. No worries, I will find a solution for you if not I will get this concern escalated. Because that really is a great question!
I appreciate your help, Megan.
My pleasure!!
MEGAN: Upon looking through all the available settings and websites, I show nothing for hot spot usage for Iphone specially. I am going to submit a form, being that this plan went into effect recently. They are open to things that may need to be added to the plan, I am going to make sure I submit for this concern. I do apologize!

Thanks for posting your findings @BasicGreatGuy - I only tether to my iPhone so for now I'll go off of that (Settings-->Cellular-->System Services ----- Personal Hotspot).

I never use more than 100MB anyway, lol. (26.1MB atm and bill ends in 3 days). But now that I can use 10GB, I'll be using this a lot more.

I think it's funny that I'm so happy/ecstatic about this unlimited data. My bill resets in 3 days and I've used .78GB so far this month. :p

Thanks for the post. It saved me from having to initiate a hunt in settings. I wonder if there is an app that keeps track of tethering usage.

Well, aside from them hopefully putting a solution to have some way to monitor that usage separately, I hope what that representative mentioned also doesn't mean that they might somehow bundle the tethering/hotspot data with mobile data and essentially also count it toward that 22 GB/line/month amount.
