It’s hard to distinguish normal crappy service from newly crappy service, at least for me. I did the T-Mobile trial and they’re actually a little better in my area…may have to go back.

I had issues where the watch update kept pausing for wifi connection when it was clear connected and strong. The verizon signal seemed lower than the 13. Maybe a placeabo, but the beta 14.1 seems a little stronger signal.

Well unlikely for you. For me, it is a hassle having to remove the phone from a case, get out the SIM card tool to get the tray out and then swap cards and then put it back in the case. Doing it via settings is easier IMO but everyone does have an opinion.
Yeah, getting out that SIM card tool is a hassle. Do you keep yours in the attic, too? 😂

Last time I tried to use eSIM, it was one error message after another and lots on time on chat support with the carrier.

Since your post was worded as "in general" I'd say it would take most people less time to swap SIM cards than figure out how to work an eSIM transfer.

Oh man here we go again! Free bumper cases anyone?

Verizon 14 Pro here, works better than it did before. I live in a low service area where calls are always dropped. Haven’t experienced it on the new phone, pleasantly surprised.

Some people don't understand the word opinion anymore. Everyone has one. Just because you prefer something a certain way, doesn't mean everyone does. That is ok.

At no time, did I say it was a general response or for the majority. I just stated my personal opinion.

This confirms my strategy of never buying a new iPhone until the following year. If you are in no desperate need to upgrade and you can wait 6 months, sometimes it’s best to wait. I remember purchasing my iPhone X in March of 2018. That was six months after launch. By then most of the kinks in manufacturing and software bugs would have been ironed. I expect the same for the iPhone 15 and will likely wait until spring of 2024.

Nope. Work from home has zero bearing on performance. That’s just propaganda spread by anti-wfh articles.

Most places, mine included have the metrics to back up the fact we get significantly more and better work done from home. The only people who don’t are the people who never really did anything to begin with.

This. Any company is going to notice you not getting the job done and they are going to be even more looking for it if you aren’t in the office.

I think the problems coming from Apple right now are more from management who presumably are in the office. Or are immune to the whole question anyway.

I am shocked more people don’t quote Apple’s “evil bosses” ad. Guess the ad firm was working from home and didn’t get the memo.

Just swap the SIM card to see if it’s the same on another network……oh wait
You actually can do this in less than 30 seconds. Download T-Mobile app from App Store, enter your email address and set a password, and activate 90 day trial. It would probably take you longer to find a SIM removal tool. The people complaining about the move to eSIM just don’t know what they don’t know.

No problems here with my iPhone 14 Pro Max on T-Mobile in NE Ohio area or with the new AirPods Pro 2 so far. Hopefully those with issues will get them resolved with the next iOS update or an update through Verizon.

Just did a test while at work and seems to be similar speeds as with the iPhone 12 Pro Max I replaced.

Yup, I'm having this issue too! Really hoping there is a SW fix instead of hardware issues

Unlikely. I can swap SIM cards in 30 seconds or less.
Are you one of those people who wear a SIM removal tool around your neck? For everyone else, it’s a bit of a hassle, especially when compared to eSIM. Forgot to mention, once you install a new eSIM, switching between them is done in under 5 seconds – beat that.

We had a power outage here the 17th or 18th, and I was surprised I had no data on my 14pro. But my iPhone 12 for work on Verizon was pulling data normally with more bars. Hopefully it’s fixed soon with a firmware update.

iPhone 14 Pro Max - have both an AT&T & Verizon Line on phone. Was having problems first few days were randomly would get errors that phone wasn't connected to Internet so couldn't access anything - even Maps wouldn't connect. Finally did a network reset and thus far seems to have cleared up the previous problems.

Because every release was perfect before WFH became a big thing, right?

You really think people can WFH and not actually do the work? They'd be fired.

The WFH bias is so funny because it falls apart easy with those 2 things.
Agreed. This has been a thing for ages. I remember back when the 2013 rMBP came out 2013 trash can Mac Pro and people were talking NEVER ORDER A REV A PRODUCT!!!!

But yes it’s just now there are issues due to WFH /s.

30 seconds huh?

With Verizon service so bad, you can't even download the T-Mobile app in that amount of time.

More likely too much Apple only testing their devices in secret at Infinite Loop in ideal conditions with ideal cell "towers" to test against, and not in the real world where things may not behave ideally or to spec. The iPhone does not deal well with many real-world conditions, like being at the edge of service areas or being in airplane mode for several days continuously.
Agree. I think it’s the secrecy that will bring Apple down.

Hows it a bit of a hassle? You dont have to use a sim removal tool. You can use a paperclip, push pin, staple, nail etc. Or are those a hassle to get too?

Man, what’s going on with those teams at Apple, they are surely unhappy giving such shoddy work..maybe something to do with taking away telework days? Not sure, but they shouldn’t let quality slip like that.

Not just Verizon. I'm on AT&T. My 13PM gave me better 5G/wifi. Been annoying with 14PM. Have noticed on spots I had awesome speeds with 13PM now slow/bad with the 14PM. I believe its esim issues.

I said it before but I honestly think Apple cannot focus on more than one thing at a time which means I’m not looking forward to VR/AR and the car. Macs are finally FINALLY back to being great. I never ordered three macs as fast as I ordered them this past two years with the M1, M1 Max and M1 Ultra. Apple let the ball drop with macs SO BAD I started to despise them. Bad keyboards on the laptops, not a fan of iMacs. As much as the PR and legal teams allowed, they apologized for the state of the Mac and we got the iMac Pro and 2019 Mac Pro as a result. Too much focus was on iPhone at the time it seems. And now that macs are getting A LOT of attention again, iPhones seem to be slipping.
