That's what is screwing with my head. Apple's site says I can buy the phone for $199 and $299 (no discount), but the email I got from Verizon said my number was eligible for $100 discount.

I've had this phone and plan for 3 years now...

So I didn't get off work until 1AM PT (4AM ET) and I had to have my wife pre-order mine online, while I gave her instructions over the phone. Even still, I'm not 100% sure it worked. Was anybody else who pre-ordered through Verizon's site told they would receive a confirmation e-mail?

Hmm...

Damn you guys over there pay a lot of your plans!

I guess it's because we have... around 6+ networks all doing the iPhone here.

I pay £35 a month ($56.93) for this:

2,000 any network minutes
5,000 same network minutes
5,000 text
unlimited internet inc tethering - no cap at all on phone or tethering usage

and I only paid £69 ($112.24) for the phone.

took me 1 hour 48 min to receive confirmation e-mail

and what sucks is that they didn't get my full address (no apartment number)
i had my apartment number during order because I double checked. 100% sure.
Now i'm just hoping customer service will read my e-mail and make a quick fix before they ship the thing

Email confirmation arrived

Hey all,

Took about 1 hr 10 min for my confirmation email to arrive, too.
I also don't see my apartment number listed on the email either, though I am pretty sure I included it in my order as well. So hopefully this is all standard practice and things will all come through as expected.

Also says estimated shipping date 2/10/2011. I betcha we'll get 'em earlier though :)

Mine is even better, i just negotiated with my phone company now i get:

Unlimited calls
Unlimited text (inc MMS)
2gb data (inc teathering)

for $59 a month + $6 a month for the phone

i got a confirmation e-mail a while ago. just for the heck of it i thought i'd just the status of my order and it says:

We have experienced technical difficulty while processing your order.
Please contact Us.

anyone else?

I'm not happy about the 5000 texts with unlimited mobile to mobile texting....I often go way over 5000 and have many friends who are not verizon customers so this concerns me.

with a smartphone and email why spend $$ for text??
pls explain, what am I missing?

Wow, US mobile prices are really a bad joke. I pay 45EUR for unlimited voice, unlimited messages and unlimited data. But I guess the US prices have something todo with the fact that you always have to buy a phone from the carrier directly.

$140.00 per iPhone for everything unlimited? LMFAOL

I pay less for two android phones with everything unlimited.

I was waiting for this moment to switch for an iPhone.... I guess I need to wait for Sprint then.

VZW server issues?

anyone in Pacific time zone successful? started trying at 00:00:01 pacific (now see it's 10 min after eager starters) and have now almost 3 hours of "Sorry, an error has occured. We're working on getting this fixed as soon as we can. (Please try again)"
Maybe VZW is "best network in America" but this doesn't inspire confidence in those of us who DIDN'T switch to ATT and held our breath for years. VZW claim to "be ready for iPhone" maybe didn't apply to preordering...

You pay ~$2 a month more for the plan and over 24 months you pay ~$32 more for the phone. You may get 'unlimited'... but do you need more than I get? Maybe you do - I don't know.

I don't make more than 83 hours of calls to the same network nor do I make more than 33 hours of calls to other networks a month. (I get more than 166 hours of calls a month included)

I also use more than 2gb of data a month.

Are those calls and texts actually unlimited? I know a lot of companis have fair usage polices.

For me that wouldn't be better.

Still, you've got a good deal!

Yeah, its pretty much common knowledge that if you get mobile service in the US/Canada, prepare to be bent over for at least two years.

Still no email confirmation after 3 1/2 hours. Oh well, so far all of the order status checks reflect the orders.

It's this way for any smart phone.... not limited to the iPhone.

Asking employees to hold off on ordering? That's a little silly.

Is it giving anyone else a server error? I can get on verizon's main page, but every time I click "Start My Order" it gives me this message:

Sorry, an error has occured.

We're working on getting this fixed as soon as we can.
