To her credit, that's a pretty nice shopping plaza. Def. worse places she could be camping out in this country.

I should go to a line at Verizon, take a pic with my AT&T iPhone and post the pic to Facebook while talking on the phone and say, "HA HA! You can't do that!" :D

No, that would make you a loser.

Apple would never ever make a crappy sign like that. That's clearly the work of a Verizon store.

I know, eh? Isn't that just so tacky? lol... I sound like a snobby girl.

I waited in line overnight for the 4 on AT&T and had a great time. It's just another excuse to go hang out, meet new people, and have a good time.

Why are so many tech people do antisocial ... The experience is fun

Really, have not done it for the iphone but I am thinking of doing it for the ipad 2. :D Still how is this any different than people waiting in freezing weather to go see a football game. Now that is one thing you will never see me do. But something that I am taking home at least for me is a lasting experience. Oh its fun been a human monkey ;) we do some of the craziest things.

After last year's wait in line for 5 hours in 90-degree heat, I swore I wouldn't do it again. The next time I'm getting a new iPhone, it'll be done completely online. I'll have someone bring it to me, thanks very much.

Exactly.

I only stood in line because I had to. The Apple Store was good about bringing us sandwiches and drinks and such. But that is something I will absolutely never do again.

I've never waited in line for my iPhones. I just don't get the appeal. I'd rather read online articles/blogs about it with some coffee, while waiting for it to arrive to my house. Much MUCH calmer.

I did it because I "had" to. My original iPhone was on the fritz, after nearly 3 years of very heavy use. I bought an iPhone 3GS a few weeks before the iPhone 4 came out to hold me over. The way the whole "Upgrade Pricing" nonsense and refunds with AT&T work meant that I had to reserve it online for in store pick up to get it at $199.

I'll never stand in line like that again. No product is worth it. None.

I don't see what people talk about this "experience" standing in line. It's the furthest thing I can think of from the definition of "fun"

My girlfriend used to work in the Winter Garden Village, where this Verizon store is located. I can honestly say I haven't seen a worse area in the Orlando metro area with worse AT&T coverage than Winter Garden. I can see why this lady would want a phone with Verizon. I did a data speed test one time there and I got .03 Mbps download, .01 upload. Nowhere else have I seen such low speeds with AT&T.

And these people are not drinking them self into a drunken stopper is a plus. Starbuck as far as the eye can see. :D Stock, stock, i love my stocks.

Now if we could only get deal with Apple and Starbuck  in the same building life would be complete and you would have an excuse ;) every time you want a coffee to go to the Apple store and drool over that new "insert product placement" :D

Actually I'd like to see T-mobile get the iphone here in the US.

Cathernine Zeta-Jones and the iphone: now that's an ad.

I understand waiting in line and I've done it for a ton of things (Wii, various xbox games, etc.), but why would you do this when the option to reserve a phone for store pickup is available? Doesn't that negate the point of waiting in line...when you don't have to?

So is the Sprint iphone coming in Fall 2011?

I feel like I'm reading a picture book on my phone. So many emotes.

I had my iPhone 4 reserved for in store pickup at the closest Apple Store.

Was still a 5 hour wait in line.

then she'll scream ha ha when you keep yelling hello because you dropped your call.

People get in line to get concert tickets, video games.. why not electronics?

The typical response is that once concert or sports tickets are gone, that's it. Video games and electronics are always being restocked. I was lucky last summer - I only waited 4 and a half hours for my iPhone. It was a good experience, but I'll never do it again.

Not really, there are also psycho social reason to do it :p, look at religious people, not to say this is the only reason but there is a high "euphoria" that people get when they are around like minded people waiting for something, its not that the iphone is so special but so much as this feeling of acknowledgment.

People who do this have show to be less likely to have buyer remorse after the experience. This does happen for many other things not just phones but something like the iphone finally coming to Verizon after so many years makes it that more exciting. Can you imagine the amount of geekness you will find in these lines :)

And what if getting to an Apple store for pickup is not an option.
