Verizon iPhone Launch, Lines Forming

When others talk about how the Android phones are going to slaughter Apple and the iPhone... take note... what Android phone gets people to line up? Especially a phone model that was shipped 8 months ago? Or for that matter is a news item on local and national news as the Verizon iPhone launch is. Heck even the local news mentioned it.

Apple competitors are fighting more than features.
 
Holy crap. You mean it gets cold enough in the Orlando area to even own a pair of boots like that? :eek:

Because the on line ship date is Feb 18th? Otherwise you can pick it up today?

Feb 18th is what is on Apple's page.

or i could just call you dumb for not considering that my phone was on wifi which is almost every you go now and i can do the same thing but much faster, and actually hear the person im talking to while doing it, NO MORE "what did you say? OR Can you say that again i didn't hear you?"

Verizon has far better coverage for talk and 3G data, there is places so remote i thought no one had service around me when i had AT&T now with Verizon all those places have full service and 3G!!

In fact, my relatives put on a sweater anytime it gets below 72. It is only supposed to get up to 65 today. Brrrrrrrrrr!

Only 3 folks at the store this AM when my brother in-law was there @ 7:30 AM... most likely because it's a Thursday? ha ha! :apple: Got to work to pay for these toys man! :apple:

I haven't lined up for an iPhone before but I have lined up for some things I was passionate about. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it. Maybe pointless to others but I'm sure there's tons of things those same people do that maybe pointless also, so oh well.
And people keep saying "they will be doing the same thing this summer" I just don't think Verizon will get the refresh expected this summer until next Feb. But if so, then so be it, we all know how it goes. They don't have to buy each iPhone plus it'll probably be something like 3G-3GS, it'll be worthy upgrade but won't be bad to just wait til next years iPhone is released.

Yes, free country, go stand in line all you like.

But allow us to wonder why the "instant gratification" generation can't wait for anything.

They lived all their lives without an iphone.

Clearly there will be many many iphones available within the next few weeks.

PS: A well known source saw somebody who saw somebody, who knows somebody
who said that by accident Apple shipped one white Verizon iphone.
Whoever gets that will be rewarded with 1 million dollars.
Now, let's all stand in line for that:)

If my wife and I didn't already have our Verizon iPhones from pre-ordering, I'd be waiting out in a line this morning, probably first in line. Not because I couldn't wait a few more hours... but it seems to me like it would be fun to stand out there with other people and enjoy the experience.
 
is it just me, or is this iphone launch on verizon not very exciting? at least other launches had mobs of people and a sea of color.. a single person waiting outside a verizon hole-in-the-wall for 15hrs? plz.

I saw 2 people standing in line at our local Verizon Store....and this was 30 min before the store opened.

Sell Apple Stock now?

Yea the first time I stood in line for an Apple launch, the original iPhone, there were people from all walks of life. Even last June for the iPhone 4 launch, there were young, middle aged, old, housewifes, doctors, businessmen, thugs, etc. There's no one "type" of person that lines up for Apple launches and enjoys the experience.

Concurrent voice/data is a HUGE feature.

Just like I wouldn't buy a car without auto-transmission or power windows, I would not go to a carrier without concurrent voice/data. Once you use it, you rely upon it.

Sure, But I refuse to believe that normal people like to wait for hours/days for those items.

This isn't even really a "new" Apple product, just a modified on that is more than halfway toward replacement (if Apple keeps the yearly refresh going)

No, I think most people realize this isn't a new magical device. If you see this for the iPad2 or iPhone5 then start to worry.

No, and this is from someone who would love a Verizon iPhone, I'm going to wait for iPhone 5 or 6, my iPhone 4 works well.

I would never wait in line for something that in 2 or 3 weeks will be everywhere....
 
That store is literally less than 1.0 mile from me. While she waited in line, I was at home sleeping because I had UPS drop mine off at my doorstep. Thank god for pre-ordering. She probably camped out more for the experience than anything and because she needed them for this weekend.

She is an AT&T customer (iPhone 3GS) so she couldn't preorder to get it this week.
