I appreciate this thread and hope I can clearly explain what i am trying to do.

My plan has:
A- current phone, contract up in December (will not use once iPhone arrives)
B- tablet, suspended/not using it, contract has been up for some time
C- new line so I could get an iPhone earlier than line A.

Is it possible to move Line A to the unused tablet Line B, so that for the time until December, I'm only paying $10/month instead of $40/month for the extra line? When I called customer service about just canceling Line A, they suggested this, but I know they are wrong 50% of the time.

There's way too many questions for me to answer by myself. I'm trying my best, but if someone else can help answer, that would be awesome. I know someone else was helping before and it's greatly appreciated.

I have 2 iPhone 4S with unlimited data.
I missed out on the promotional 8GB Max plan to woo unlimited data users a month ago.
I'd like to switch to that plan. 6GB Max was offered earlier this week, but that since disappeared from my choices when logged into my Verizon account.

Would going to a store and attempting to gehe 8GB Max plan be better than calling CS? I'm not far from a Verizon store (real store, not approved reseller).

The 6GB plan is still available. Calling CS will definitely get you further than going to a store. The other option being asking for the 6GB plan then asking for an extra 1GB on that line. They will usually help with that, especially if you're switching from unlimited. Just ask them to speak with their supervisor (you can't talk to them) if they resist.

YMMV on that for sure. Usually if you call to cancel, they'll do anything they can to get you to not cancel. I would ask for Line A to be put as a "test device" rather than switching them all around. They will probably do that, if they resist, just say you'd like to cancel. ;)

Thank you! I have no clue what it means but I will definitely tell them that :D

I have a typical 2 year contract with verizon that isn't up on my iPhone 5 until late November. I know I want to get the iPhone 6 plus as my next device when it comes time to upgrade. My question is, there any way I could "preorder" the iPhone 6 plus now being that they are pushed back 4+ weeks until delivery? I don't have Verizon Edge, but just wondered if I can somehow order the device now at upgrade price through Apple and just not activate it until my upgrade date. Would that work or not?

You can't do that, unfortunately. You may be able to pre order it at Best Buy / Walmart, but not through Verizon / Apple.

Single Line Plan

As many people have noticed, the 2GB/unlimited calling & texting Single Line Plan was not an option when pre-ordering the iPhone 6 from Verizon's website. Will it be possible to switch from "More Everything" to a Single Line Plan?

If so, should this be attempted before or after activating the phone? If it matters, I'm new to Verizon from at&t and did the Edge option.

This is probably the most frustrating thing I have had to deal with in my history of upgrading devices through VZW/Apple.

I have 3 lines on my VZW account, one of which is eligible for full upgrade pricing, yay! BUT when Trying to upgrade and complete my preorder with a reservation code that I received last night through apple.com I get this weird error message when trying to get through checkout:

Now, I understand this to be a message when trying to order a phone with a NEW line where activation deposit is required based off the credit decision of the carrier, but this account has been active for 10 years and there has never been anything to block an upgrade like this. I have called VZW and they confirmed "yes this line is eligible for contract subsidy pricing, there would be no deposits required" and then apple says "I have never seen that or don't understand why that would be an error message, call Verizon".

The REAL kicker out of all of this is the fact that if I go through the checkout process as if i'm going to proceed with the other two lines that aren't eligible and just buy outright retail, theres NO hiccups or issues at all. My reservation code runs out tomorrow morning at 9AM and i'm guessing by the time I get an answer to this that window will have passed, but now i'm even worried about waiting in line at apple and trying to upgrade and running into issues. I just want to know what the heck this is and why it's there since neither company seems to have a clue! Ahh!!!

Anyone :-(

Hmm...damn. The 8GB Max had tethering as well, 6GB Max doesn't. 8GB for $50/month is the better deal.

Thanks for the help! I'll do it in store, because I hate talking on the phone to CS.

Help!

I have an iPhone 5 with unlimited data (JB'd for free tethering) under an old Talk and Text plan, and I have an IPad Mini with 5GB of data. I'd like to put my unlimited SIM in the iPad and get a new 6....what's the cheapest way to do this? Add a line to my existing service, then put the unlimited data SIM in the iPad? Just get a new number under a modern plan? With the unlimited data SIM in my iPad I won't need much data for the iPhone 6 itself....2GBs or less will do.

I have a family plan with unlimited talk and text, all 4 lines eligible for upgrade:

iPhone 4s with unlimited data
iPhone 4 with unlimited data
Dumb phone
Dumb phone

Is there a way to get iPhone 6 on all 4 lines, and keep unlimited data on the two while getting less shared data on the other two? Or should I give up the fight and get Edge? We don't use that much data really, and would like the most affordable plan per GB. We don't need new phones yearly either, is there a cost savings with edge?

I thought to put the new 6 on EDGE, add 2 new 5s's to EDGE in December, and convert the remaining 5s to EDGE (if that's even an option).

Thanks!

Is that an option or do I have to wait until the 2 years are up?

If I decide I want another 6 now, do I have to pay the ETF AND buy a new phone at full retail? Or can I pay the ETF and start a new 2 year contract from scratch, paying the subsidized rate?

Im sure this has been covered but ill try. I have two lines one dumb phone (no data) and the other( iphone5). Can i upgrade the dumb phone with a 6+ and then cancel that line and pay the ETF and then replace my 5 with the 6?

I haven't been able to get a clear answer to this question from anyone so I hope somebody here knows: Is it possible to buy a Verizon iPhone 6 at full price from an Apple store next friday? I am not eligible for an upgrade. One Apple rep told me I could and another told me I could only buy one if I was eligible for an upgrade...

yes, you can. i've always been able to. if you're not eligible for an upgrade, i'd just tell them that up front and have them not even enter in your account info and stuff. it'll make check out a lot faster.

Thanks! I was afraid I'd end up waiting in line for nothing.

does your current iphone 5 sim (with unlimited data) work in the mini? i used to do this when i had unlimited data, but sometime around a year or so ago, verizon prevented the ipad from using the iphone's data.

Obviously verizon would be your best source of information but is there a reason you won't order directly from Verizon? I don't think you get the free 1GB of data for a year if you order from Apple but I could be wrong.

I think the answer to that is no, I think when you order you have to be eligible for an upgrade. One thing you should consider is that the special trade in promo with Verizon ends at the end of September (you just have to submit a request by then). And also for many people, the Edge plan is cheaper. It might be cheaper for you to order a 6+ via the Edge plan.

Sim question. Ordered a 6 using another lines upgrade. When I get the phone, do I put my IP5's sim in my 6 and then go online and activate?

I have 2 lines on verizon
Line A: iPhone 5s with UDP with upgrade
Line B: Stupid Phone no data no upgrade.

When I upgraded line a to the iphone 5s i just upgraded line b and got a new sim which i heard they are killing the loopholes. So how can i get a iphone 6 plus on line a without losing my data plan and without paying full retail?
or is retail pricing my only option? I dont know the cost of adding a line and cancelling it, dont know anything about the edge up or the cost. The goal is to keep line b without a data plan and not to pay full retail lol. Im on a family share plan. Thanks for the help in advanced.

There's no way to upgrade Line A and keep unlimited. You have to wait until Line B is eligible or switch to the Max Plan.

Q

Can you confirm or not confirm that the post that went around that stated verizon will cut the loophole of upgrading a basic phone then switching it with another line and putting the basic phone back on the line and removing the data plan.

I spoke with some reps online and in store and they all haven't heard that if you put a basic phone back on a line you have to keep a data plan on it.
