Wrong....AT&T is much faster. Verizon is capped at 3.1 mbs......AT&T is now at 7.2 mbs here in Chicago. The 3GS supports speeds up to 7.2. You'd be going backwards if you went to Verizon and you would lose concurrent voice and data access.

Not that I buy the rumor, but presumably after January the new iPhone roll-outs will be available on Verizon as well as AT&T in the summer. it only makes sense.
So yes, you'd have early Verizon adopters buying an "old" phone for a few months, but then in June/July it'll catch up and be on a level playing field.
Makes sense to me.

Not really good news for the 1.7 million iPhone 4 buyers - they're locked in for a full two years.
You don't suppose AT&T knew this was coming and tried to get everyone locked up in a long term contract.

HA! Someone's been drinking the KoolAid! Think: iPhone4 leak, iPad leak and dozen others that ruin the secret culture of Apple. Adding Verizon, new chip makers, and new Verizon vacation blackout dates to the mix only increases Apple's difficulty of keeping things on the DL. I'd be surprised if we didn't see a cdma test-device 'leaked' (real or planned) by Thanksgiving.

Given today's horrible stock market, I think that somebody over at Verizon decided to begin another rumor with the hopes of boosting Verizon's stock price as much as they can. Sad that it worked.

Spoken like a true Kool-Aid drinker. Verizon could have a tickertape parade trumpeting the news, but until it comes from Apple.....

Wait, didn't the five-year contract between Apple and AT&T start in 2007? That's when the first iPhone came out...so wouldn't that contract last until 2012?

Yeah, just like Jobs says it's "not an issue" about the reception, it MUST be true! LOL.
Right there with ya! Mine ends in February 2011 as well and I may just jump over to Verizon depending on what the plans look like. I think it'll be more expensive but we will see.
