Two things that would be perfect if Apple were still at MacWorld: iPad in 2010, and the Verizon iPhone in 2011.
There's a Qualcomm SV-DO chip that's looking for a handset. It could be iPhone 4, an Android handset, whatever. Apparently the changes to the CDMA network are trivial to accommodate SV-DO for simultaneous voice and data.Wrong....AT&T is much faster. Verizon is capped at 3.1 mbs......AT&T is now at 7.2 mbs here in Chicago. The 3GS supports speeds up to 7.2. You'd be going backwards if you went to Verizon and you would lose concurrent voice and data access.
Any chance apple can solve that problem or is it technically impossible?
Contracts are rewritten all the time. You ever refinance a mortgage? Yeah, I thought so.Wait, didn't the five-year contract between Apple and AT&T start in 2007? That's when the first iPhone came out...so wouldn't that contract last until 2012?
I would laugh if Apple turns out to be making an iphone for Sprint instead!!!
CDMA = No Voice and Data at the same time. Suck.
I'm wondering if there will be new features in the Verizon iPhone if it is released in January.
Just heard on Bloomberg that Iphone on Verizon Jan 2011. I guess this is the reason AT&T was offering early upgrades.
I'm sitting in Maine right now with an iPhone telling me "No Service." I literally have to press up against a window in order to make a phonecall around here. Step two feet inside? Nothing.
I don't have to worry about dropped calls in Maine, because half the time I don't even get the chance to make a phone call.
So Apple is gonna make a whole different CDMA phone just for Verizon? Good luck with the resale value on that black sheep crappy iPhone that won't work anywhere else in the world except on Verizon.
Unlike the GSM iPhones we have now that can be unlocked and used anywhere in the world, CDMA doesn't use SIM cards so it will be locked to Verizon permanently. Have fun trying to sell those crappy phones people, have fun.
Not really good news for the 1.7 million iPhone 4 buyers - they're locked in for a full two years.
You don't suppose AT&T knew this was coming and tried to get everyone locked up in a long term contract.![]()
WOW
All of you ATT users know that your iPhone is unreliable.
AT&T has been dropping my calls since 3 quarter of 2007 when the first gen iPhone was still somewhat exclusive and limited.
I wonder what was AT&T's excuse back then?
Highly unlikely apart from the slight chance of LTE support.I'm wondering if there will be new features in the Verizon iPhone if it is released in January.
