I ordered 1 32 GB gray iPhone 5s and 1 32 GB gold iPhone 5s just after 3:00 AM EDT on September 20th. My confirmation email stated a ship by date of September 24th. I received the infamous "Shipping Status Update" email stating my new ship by date was October 16th.
Since visits to Verizon's order status website still show September 24th as the ship by date, I called Verizon to see if they had any new information last night. I was told that the company expected another shipment of phones on October 7th, so the CSR said, "Hopefully we can ship your phone with that shipment." I responded, "Basically you are stating that Verizon has no idea when my phone will ship." He grudgingly responded, "That's correct."
In my opinion, the bottom line is Verizon made assumptions about order quantities or was told to assume shipping timelines that have turned out to be incorrect. The company should have told those whose phones would not ship by September 24th that their orders have been delayed and that the company would keep them informed about future order status rather than make a new guess about a shipment date. I have no confidence in any date provided now and can only hope that my phones get delivered sooner than later. As such, I expect to be disappointed when October 7th comes and goes without an updated. Hopefully October 16th won't come and go without a shipment too.
