This goes along with what I've concluded about the recent number of Apple releases.
No KILLER 1st party apps. I returned my Apple TV 4 for this reason. The iPad Pro if it's going to be deserving of the name needs enterprise features to be the KILLER 1st party app that differentiates it as you described.

I don't see this argument as being valid. When the MacBook was released, what killer 1st party app was there? You people have no patience. It just came out yesterday. Give developers a little time to see what this beast can do.

I think any major changes to iOS just because you have a bigger screen would be stupid. They are trying to limit OS fragmentation. That's why there are no major changes on the phone front with the much larger iPhone 6+. There will be tweaks, allowing more icons on the screen in later iOS updates, but the feel and the look will stay the same. It's not OSX and it never will be. I'm just looking to the apps to show the difference.

Sorry I don't agree.
Whilst I'm not saying iOS should necessarily be any different in functionality.
The iPad Pro, with a 13" screen is screaming out for better more useful/imaginative ways to "Present" the icons of the apps you have installed.

Welcome to a forum that is populated by a wide variety of people who all have their own preferences.

If you don't want to read things that make you uncomfortable remember participation here is voluntary.

No one is forcing you to be here.

Yeah but most of the complaints are from people who don't own or haven't even laid their hands on the product they are complaining about. It's hypocritical to tell the OP that if he doesn't like what's being said then he has the option not to participate. Given he actually owns the product his opinion actually has substantive basis vs speculative hatred.

I don't hate the iPad Pro. In fact, I intensely dislike the word "hate". I am so happy for all who wanted one and got one and is enjoying it.

What I truly dislike is the amount of $$$ the low end 32gb costs. With tax, AppleCare +, a keyboard and pencil, it is well over $1000. For an iPad. That is what I dislike.

I think many who are putting it down just can't seem to see it as anything other than a larger iPad, and not for what it actually is, a just released, version 1 device that has huge potential that will be exploited by future iOS updates and pro level apps.

I have had mine for about 24 hours so far and have been blown away by the experience overall. ...And I say that coming from the recent Air 2. To me this really represents what the iPad should be. It is super fast, super fluid, super bright and immersive with whatever you're doing with it.

I can't even rationalize the speaker complaints, this quad system is awesome. They are loud and vibrant on any rotation. Perhaps there's been too much listening to beats style headphones or something.

Yes...it's big...how could you NOT know that. It's also incredibly thin. It may be the same iOS but if you thought you would just use it like the Air or Mini you're doing it wrong, frankly. Just because it's big doesn't make it a bad product. The fact that it works with a full size keyboard feels seamless.

No iOS device multitasks like this - none. Nothing refreshes, it's all instant. Switching tasks and split screening my work feels like it would on anything else.

The apps will be updated, they always are, criticizing that right now is just silly.

Complaints I can understand - iOS. I agree the icon layout right now looks wasteful, there are definitely better ways to handle that and I agree with Gruber there are some obvious keyboard enhancements that should happen. There also seem to be a few bugs, and I have seen the keyboard drop out randomly twice. All of that is likely to be fixed, and trivial.

Overall it's a near perfect device, and to me, the first that feels worthy of the "post pc" label. I don't have the Pencil yet so can't comment there. If Apple enhances iOS a bit more they will really be on to something...
People hate and fear what they don't understand.

This is an awesome device specially if you have the apple smart keyboard. Pencil would be a bonus on top of all the amazing features.

I think cost is very subjective. I priced out what a 128gb Air 2 + LTE with a smart cover, same setup I got in the Pro and it was only about ~$292 (w/ tax) MORE expensive for the Pro than the Air 2.

Now I know $300 is not chump change for most but in my opinion I don't think it's that much more expensive.

You are getting a lot of iPad for that extra $300, bigger screen, better internals, those speakers! Again this is very subjective, but for a device I use 99% of the time while at home I think the $300 is well justified if you like the Pro.

I'm still on the fence, I love it but it could be a tad too big for me, I'm going to give it a few more days.

are you using with apple smart keyboard? If not you will regret returning it.

No smart keyboard. I have been using my physical apple keyboard.

get the Apple keyboard it will change your perspective of ipp completely. Yesterday when i was using ipp without Apple keyboard i was very confused because i was unable to hold it or put it on desk or table. And it also does not look nice without keyboard which is a case. ipp sure is a bundled item apple must have sell it togther. So if you can wait you will have no regrets and the screen size will look perfect.

I want to weld two together and turn them into a laptop :)

In fact, it will be interesting to see how professional companies adopt this new format / hardware. With the Pencil as a precision input device, If Apple can convince the likes of AutoDesk and Adobe to make real versions of their headline software for this device, it will make the shift to a primary iOS world much more enticing.

I don't think Apple will ever abandon OSX, they'll still support it and just let it drift into obsolescence, much like they've done with with the iPod platform and the legacy Macbook Pro.

Apple doesn't have to develop the software if Adobe, et al, develop iOS apps like they have started to.

iPads are for fun. A bit of chin scratching and the Pro name comes up. Add a pen... meh. The iPad's own keyboard is great. My wife can type faster on her iPad Air than me with a keyboard of any other type.

Most will do as they did with any other iPad just with a bigger screen.

Clumsy mistake or best ever, you decide it makes no difference to anyone else but you.

I'll hold my mini closer... insta iPad Pro... :D Saving £679/$799 in the process. ;)

Obviously that is what most people are doing. We just use this forum to voice what we are doing. In a forum where people are mentioning negatives and you feel so inclined to defend Apple and/or the iPad Pro, you should use counter argument about the positives of the device rather than just a blanket "don't buy it then" statement which does nothing to support the positive side of the iPad. Just a recommendation so you can learn how to communicate in a forum where opinions are discussed.

How can I be defending Apple if I'm telling people not to buy the product if it doesn't suit their needs. I'm trying to provide counter arguments to those saying that Apple has made poor business decisions or a poor product because for some reason or another the product doesn't suit a particular user's needs or cost profile, especially if that person hasn't tried the product. There is a little cognitive dissonance in saying, "Obviously that is what most people are doing" and then telling me not to state the obvious. I'm voicing a valid opinion as well. You don't have to patronize me.

The thing is.. You aren't providing a counter argument. When someone says a negative and you respond with "Don't buy it then" you are just trolling and providing no counter to their statements. Your just shutting down the conversation when someone has a legitimate thing they wish to discuss.

If you wish to participate in a forum and have a conversation then don't shut the conversation down. Provide an actual legitimate counter argument. If someone says "I think the iPad pro is overpriced" and you don't agree then respond saying "Actually, the iPad pro provides x number of things that are a very good value and priced accordingly." If you say "Don't buy it then," you have provided nothing to the conversation and thus you should not be using forums as you clearly do not understand how to have a conversation with your fellow man/woman.

This is very strange. You are happy for people posting their criticisms without having used the product and you want me to engage in pros and cons argument on a hypothetical basis. I'm not shutting any conversation down. I hope you realize that your argument flows both ways. A discussion is a discussion and how a person engages is their prerogative. You are also cherry picking.

Agreed, it took me two hours to know I wanted to return my SP4 and 30 minutes to fall in love with the iPad Pro, it's probably going to be my primary device over my MacBook
