Okay is it just me or does Tim Cook have a really odd presentation voice? It's like a whisper with a crescendo? Watching this I keep thinking use a normal voice Tim! I wish Jony Ive was more of an extrovert because I'd love to see him up on stage. Tim Cook and Phil Schiller just don't do it for me. :(

Some features on the new iPhone such as Siri, I'll never use, and that's fine, no biggie.

You'll use Siri. Maybe not every day. Maybe not for everything Siri can do. But Siri does certain tasks so much faster than you can do manually, it's pretty crazy not to use it. If you ever use alarms, or timers, Siri is faster. If you ever check the weather, Siri is faster. If you ever want to make a reminder, especially a complicated one involving repeats, Siri is much faster. If you ever want to check something while you're driving, Siri is safer. With iOS 6, and I've been using it as a developer for some time now, Siri saves a lot of time on a lot of tasks that would otherwise involve lots of typing or settings-fiddling. With one spoken sentence, I can do so many things that might take me a whole minute otherwise. iOS is fast and easy and intuitive, but ultimately it's not as fast as your voice. Heck, just having Siri open apps for me is faster in some cases than trying to remember on which of my many home screens or folders I stashed that little-used app that suddenly is very important.

Siri was a fun novelty at first, but I found my use of it increased over time, not the reverse. With iOS 6, it is so much more powerful.

I'm starting to think that this was the most "leaky" Apple keynote on purpose. That way developers, accessory makers, and the general public could get all of their complaining about the shape and connector out the way BEFORE they buy it this holiday season.

Think about it.

Sorry....but no, I won't be using Siri. Not because I wouldn't love to be able to do so, but because unlike a lot of people I am not easily understood when I speak to other humans, much less a machine. There are a few of us out here......

Sure, Siri is great for those who can use her -- enjoy!

To be honest, I'm starting to find these keynotes simply unbearable.

One huge reason I think I was just not excited at today's keynote is....well....for me, the magic is gone. Really. First of all, this is no longer a brand-new totally innovative product, it's simply an upgrade to something we've had for several years now. Heck, everyone and his uncle or aunt has an iPhone now. An upgrade to the product....great. Exciting? Uh...not so much so....

Exactly!

Plus, all the speakers now sound so repetitive and fake... a bit over the top for such minor upgrade. I really think Apple has abused this so-called showmanship.

But all this boredom ended when they announced the $29-$39 adapter. This is a nasty kick to the customer's private parts. Seriously Apple: $29 for an adapter that can't even support Video and iPod out? have you lost it?!?!? As if this new plug is a favor to all your customers... I can only think of one place where you can put those adapters for that price.

EDIT: and it gets worse! just saw the new iPod Nano announcement. WTF Apple??? they seem to completely ignore the fact that so many customers chose the Nano for its portability. The older one was brilliant - and the fact that so many people used it even as a watch... and now they killed it?!?!? Enough: I can't watch it anymore, it's a waste of time.

This headline is confusingly worded and implies that today's event is already available as an Apple podcast, which it is not.

A more careful selection of words would have been more professional.

Retina Display Envy

I hope you watch this Keynote on your Retina display. The video quality was nothing short of amazing on my iPad Retina!

I'm excited about the iPhone 5. But I was more impressed with the iPod Touch presentation. They look much better than the iPhone, IMO. For a brief moment I considered foregoing an iPhone and just getting the 64 gb Touch and using Skype. But I've become spoiled by continuous 3G connectivity....

Why did they take so long to post the video. usually it's posted right after the keynote.

I like Tim Cook. He's not Steve, but no one is. I get the sense that he is a down to earth, regular kind of guy, easy to talk to, and nice to work with. I enjoy watching him present. I think people are too hard on him.

Loved the little mini concert at the end! David Grohl rocks!

Who's that guy presenting iPod?? I wanted to fall asleep watching his presentation. If you want the audience to be excited, at least act slight bit excited yourself. Sheesh

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING. GREED! $29 for the little adapter.

I agree. I wish they would've given one adapter for free to everyone upgrading from a previous iPhone. Even if they did that, I would probably still buy one or two more because ideally I'd like to keep one in my car, one on the nightstand, and one in my office (all places I always keep an "old" 30-pin cable plugged in.) It's going to be a pain having to try to locate the single adapter and keep it handy at all times when I need a quick charge and have tons of old cables and only one new one.

Like most everyone else, I have tons of old 30-pin dock connector to USB cables around; and at $19 a pop, I'm not loading up on a bunch of new "lightning" cables that cost Apple a buck or two or less to have mass produced. I hope third parties can ramp up production of legit "lightning" cables soon.

I like the new iPhone. I am glad Apple kept the same form factor and did not come up with a huge phone like the Samsung ones.
Improvements all over.
All good, but again here I must be the minority. Some of you love to whine.

I was at first disappointed by the lack of some new hardward addition to the iPhone, but then realized the iPhone is like a Car.

If you have a 2010 Camry, you could look at it and say it has some mildly outdated specs. If you have a 2012 Camry, everything in the car might have been improved in some way, but it is still a Camry, and as such, does the same things a Camry does, just a bit better. That which it does, is what the Camry is.

What the iPhone 4, 4S, and 5 do, is what an iPhone is. As someone used to conclude after presenting the feature set, "And that's the iPhone".

Sure, I want holoprojection facetime and laser scanner and wacom digitizer layer and built-in lcd projector and NFC Home, Car, and Shopping authentication and a thunderbolt connector and an HDMI output and wireless charging pad too. But that's not what the iPhone is. The iPhone does what the iPhone has done for the last few years, it just does it really well.

But that Nano is ugly.

nothing To WOW me

all the months of excitement and anticipation only to find out the iPhone 5 is only marginally better than the last. There was no "and one more thing" to WOW me. I was so hoping for that keyboard that projects onto a table that we've all seen for years in the Youtube video for iPhone 5 or at least some other state of the art invention. Does the iPhone 5 meet my expectations? Not really. Will I be one of the first in line to buy it? Hell yea!
