Am I the only one here who doesn't like ear buds? I have to use actual oldschool headphones because the buds make my ears hurt.

No, can headphones are in style right now - quite in style, in fact!

Nope, illogical. Can't just skip 5. Most users are clueless to the number of models in existence, but they expect 5 to come after 4....not 6.

They skipped Xboxes 2-359. Skipping 5 is nothing compared to that....

wow, that design is very bad indeed. apple seems to get backward. stop suing companies. you will be perished by lawsuit after all. it's only ****ing US. you can't win out of countries. I really expect that apple will be back to 1997. they lost their mind, throw away innovation (wait, they never invented anything. just adapted existed tech, made better). so apple tries to ban Samsung galaxy s3, note 2 as well? look at people's reaction, and visit at stores. they all sold out comparing to iphone whatever. fanboys, stop blaming. it's all consumer choice. you fanboys are only very small number in terms of product consumption. adroid base phone still dominates the market more than 56%. iphone is only 17% worldwide. it's only phenomenon in the US. it's the same way for macbook pro and other macs sale as well. it's only 10% in the US. for worldwide? it's not even 5%. ****ing Apple should be disappeared if they continue to sue. patent law is very different from each country. it only works in the US which apple want to monopolize. you know, it's illegal. I think that Tim Cook should be resigned. what this guy knows? money, money, money. dumb****.

At least the previous earbuds have rubbering on them. Never found them that discomforting as many have said.

But these look like they would hurt after 3 songs...

If apple sends C&D letters then it proves the legitimacy of the Leak. Not saying anything at all makes it more mysterious as to what the product is...

C&D letters of this type are completely pointless in this day and age and Apple knows it.

really ?? I would use them all the time on iPad..... Maybe I still better get the old ones now while i still can.

Just wanted to point out:

Finally a leak with good photo quality!

It appears to have been shot with a DSLR, everything is perfectly framed, well lit and in focus! The shallow depth of field also almost makes it artistic. :p

I'm pretty sure that if those were made by Apple, they'd use either Myriad Pro or VAG Rounded for the L/R typography.

Why would they use a new font?

I call fake. This must be one of the many Chinese knockoffs available pretty much anywhere.

EDIT: Judge by yourself:

Image

The font used looks like Klavika or Deria Sans, fonts which Apple has never used anywhere.

EDIT 2: Just looked up current Apple earbuds. They don't use one of the usual apple fonts for the R/L signs either. It seems to be the same font as the one in this leak. You can ignore all this. Those may be real, sadly.

Thank you font police. I'm pretty sure Apple could just, you know, change fonts.

I bet these will be crap, just like their predecessors.

Why?

Because if you have good earphones, you'll quickly learn to recognize how horrendous the quality of music is that you get off the iTunes store. I'm not talking about some audiophile "zomg my headphones increase instrument separation" stuff here, I'm talking about honest to god quality difference that you can blind A/B test and get the same answer every time.

I used to use Apple earphones. I used to believe that Apple somehow knew what they were doing in the audio department (they haven't, since they stopped using quality DACs in their equipment). After I somehow burned out 5 pairs of Apple earphones (never exceeding 50% volume in iOS), I decided that enough was enough and splurged on a pair of Shure SE535s.

Suddenly, all my music is new again- like nothing I've ever heard before. Listening to music is enjoyable, not just something you do to block out ambient noise. Everything is so clear you can close your eyes and just let yourself get submerged in the music, as if you're there in the studio while they're mastering it.

And you quickly learn to recognize which tracks are ripped as lossless (using ALAC or FLAC), and which tracks are downloaded from the internet off the iTunes Store. The CD rips sound fantastic, the downloaded stuff sounds like ass.

With proper earphones, I've actually gone back to going out of my way to buy and rip CDs. I avoid digital downloads because the quality is absolutely horrendous.

But you don't notice this unless you've got good earphones...

Which makes me wonder why Apple would bother producing anything better then their predecessor units. If your headphones suck, then there's no difference between FLAC and MP3/MP4 because the headphone drivers can't reproduce the level of quality for you to notice it. This makes me think that these new headphones will suck on purpose, otherwise people might pick up on the fact that the iTunes store is selling lossy garbage- and that'd make Apple look bad.

You paid $500 for headphones? Wow. Absurd in my opinion.

I don't like earbuds at all, at least not these kind. The "earplug" type ones are best. They keep external sound out, give good bass, and actually don't cause extreme pain to my ears. The downside is that you'd better keep your ears wax-free, or you'll have a nasty pair of earbuds. Sadly, the earplug earbuds I got from a Canada Air flight are better than everything else I've tried, including those expensive Apple ones.

I use over-the-ear whenever possible. Of course, not Beats by Dr Dre, not Beats by Billy Mays, but Sony headphones. Great quality, relatively low price, no extra cost for branding.

In 5 months Samsung's earbuds will look exactly the same.

I hope not. The in-ear headphones that came with my S3 actually helps blocking outside noise and doesn't come out off my ears when I move around. I would call it a downgrade if it happens.

Give Shure a try. I also like my Ultimate Ears, but actually liked my old Shures better (before they broke).

They hurt when I started using them with my first Gameboy, and still hurt now when I occasionally use them with my iPhone/iPad.

Every earphone hurts with a Gameboy. Even the great soundtrack on Super Mario Bros Deluxe ends up giving me a headache if it's over earphones.

I don't like earbuds either, but I am forced to use them sometimes because I can't carry my Sony headphones around or my old-school $5 set (which is very nice, actually). The ones that kinda plug your ears are the best.
