I find it fascinating to follow the progress and evolution of this device. I know it’s not for me right now, maybe never. But it is cool to see it reviewed and experienced. I like Brian Tong’s style of Vision Pro review.

Why is everyone ripping on the personas? How else can you be represented in a FaceTime call without a camera facing you? Even if there was a camera facing you, you still have this thing strapped to your face. What are we expecting here?
Apple’s implementation falls way short. It screams this product needs more time in the oven. I think Apple should’ve waited until at least 2025 to release it.

That glass and screen and cameras to show your “eyes” all costs $$$$. Remove all that tech and it’s certainly at the $2500-$2700 range at least.
I understand those cameras pointing at your eyes are tracking the user's eye movement so the AVP knows what the user is looking at, so they can interact with it.

The cameras inside the device, as I understand it, don't show a live view of the user's eyes. This has been mentioned before, and they are very clear about it in the CNET review. So those cameras inside will not be removed. The only saving from what you suggest would be the front-facing screen, which I don't believe would add up to a $1k savings.

On the other hand, substituting the front glass screen with something more utilitarian and less "Apple" would help to reduce the weight, in addition to any cost savings. Maybe there could be an Apple Vision SE in 5 years that doesn't have the EyeSight glass?

... According to Tong, third-party apps on visionOS are listed alphabetically starting on the second page of the Home Screen, and cannot be reordered like they can be on the iPhone and iPad. Apps cannot be placed into folders either. ...
It's late, I am tired and my brain is melting. After reading that for a second I was thinking, "Wait, If you delete an app, you can't even pay to get it back?"

There is something off about Justine's face. MKBHD looks a little cross-eyed in his persona, and Joanna Stern looked like the Wish.com version of the Mona Lisa.
Thought the same thing. it's her mouth. Photoshopped or surgery. That HUGE Mug isn't the same, it's definitely smaller. Maybe the headset kinda smashes it all back.

My mouth dropped when I saw Justine demo the keynote app. I think it sets the bar as to what a Vision Pro app can be capable of, but it would also involve a complete rethink of the app’s UI (most developers probably won’t bother). It could also explain why the other iWorks apps are not available (Apple probably needs a bit more time to redesign them).

I don’t expect this to come to PowerPoint either (not sure if keynote is using private APIs not available to other apps). But damn, can you imagine if Vision Pro owners are able to experience this for the next WWDC event?

I think Keynote was a great demo of what this device should be. And that’s as a companion device to elevate experiences.

You’re working on a Keynote on your Mac. And when you want to practice your presentation you can put on your Vision Pro and place yourself in a theatre.

If you see the device as a companion you would use for short periods rather than the whole ‘era of spacial computing’ do everything computer that Apple has attempted to market it begins to make more sense.

Honestly, Im kinda disappointed in the quality of the outer display. Eyesight doesn't look anywhere near as good as in the marketing pics on Apples web site.
I think because it’s a 3D display. Digital camera can’t recreate an illustration that 3D display provide. You need to see it in real life.

The front display is hands down 100% guranteed to be the FIRST feature that Apple drops for V2.0 in order to lower the price point and attract more customers.

It's terrible looking, and functionally almost pointless. Who cares what other people see whilst you are using the headset? A simple red light/green light could suffice to indicate someone can 'see you' whilst the headset is on if that is even deemed an important thing which it really isnt.

Seems to me the development of that screen, the costs involved engineering it, and the complexities of the software running it were all a total waste of time.

Nope, they need as much feedback as they can, for that it needs its developers and customers

I’m very curious how personas on the screen will look irl. They don’t look great in review stills but I don’t think studio lighting shining on very reflective + the quirks of a camera are doing the external display any favor. Doubtful they look acceptable in any case…
It's a version 1 none the less. This will only get better with time. Look at what videos games looked like just a few years ago. This isn't you creating the character yourself, it's literally the camera capturing an image and 3D data of yourself and then trying to create the character for you so to speak. It's cool that this is possible or the tech at all. Imagine if we had to use effing Mii characters for this.

Personas still look better than most social network apps where people blur there faces so much ont leurs and mouth is left.

I remember the wow factor when Apple introduced the first iPad. Comparing the current iPads to the first gen iPad now, we see how outdated, how primitive and how useless it became. Same will happen to this Vision Pro and in 10-15 years this version will be an antique just like the first gen iPad is now. Also, it will be interesting to see how Vision Pro will evolve in a decade from now.

Like the HomePod and AirPods Max this is another over priced product, all this spacial computing nonsense is just marketing it’s a vr headset that doesn’t do vr well, the quest is years ahead, it needs controllers to work well

Quest is already years ahead, Apple should not make a product that’s worse than that, the fov is terrible on vision pro

Why would you want multiple virtual monitors? Wouldn't one big one with more pixels and no gaps always be better?
Not so much. For my work it’s easier to assign windows to different monitors, especially using shortcuts. With a bigger display I feel there's more work involved in organising it.

And remember - these are the "paid" reviews. Wait til next weekend when the honest reviews come..... this thing is DOA. Gen 2-3 will be the one to get assuming apple gets real with a lot of Tim's insecurities.....

The others on Youtube will also be paid, by the advertisers.

I complained about an issue in Safari for a decade before they fixed it. There are several other bugs that I tracked for that were fixed in around that 10-year mark. I think that's their timetable for bug fixes and features -- AFTER release though. So the 10 year count down is just starting now.
So... uBlock Origin and Reddit Enhancement Suite will work in Safari... 20??
