Which notebook model costs $1500 and can handle properly a $3500 4k-Retina Display?. If you can afford the latter, then I am quite sure you could afford the new MacPro... ;)

Why not. I know that a $2000 camera can handle a $20,000 Lens.:D

^ I've said it before but if i was in the market for the '15, i WOULDN'T wait a sec longer.

Why not.

If they release Haswell and they do omit the dGPU and lower the price.

Ivy Bridge models are gonna be cheaper still in the refurb store

If you don't need now simple wait and see what they bring out 1st before deciding.

Apple released Logic Pro X today they should also release a new rMBP :D

This makes the chances for a Pro event (announcing Mac Pro details, new rMBP's and pro software updates) slim. If they have a Logic Pro update now they could have easily held that another month or 2. I wasn't expecting an update of Logic now.

Anyway: Now more engineers have time to work on Aperture.

I don't know if this has been mentioned here before but... on last week's Accidental Tech Podcast Marco Arment felt that there would be a Mac event in September where Apple would release new rMBP's and the Mac Pro.

Of course he also said he thought iOS 7 wouldn't be done and released until November, which seems unthinkable given past iPhone/iOS releases.

He had nothing to really back this up other than the fact that the Intel silicon would then be ready.

I hope this is true because September is before October, obviously, and if rMBP's are released with the Mac Pro there is a greater likelihood of Thunderbolt 2 on them.

Why? None of us really knows what's up apple's sleeves...at the very least you will be getting improved CPU, SSD and Wifi. This dGPU drama is overplayed I think, but that's just my sense at this point. I'm willing to wait (After a failed eBay purchase...call it a sign)

Can't remember where, but I was reading an Intel report that said the CPUs with the 5200 on them would be available in July. Didn't say when in July.

I suspect that the Haswell MBPs will be getting a Fusion Drive.

Why? Well, if you're a Pro user (photographer or videographer, for example) who needs a lot of storage on the road and doesn't want to deal with an external hard drive, then you'll have to pay a high premium for less storage than many Windows laptops come with. I can't see Apple skimping on disk space in their high-end laptops this way. Right now it costs $700 to upgrade a MBP with a 768GB flash drive; you can get an entire Dell laptop with a terabyte hard drive for less than that.

And Haswell's better power management will easily compensate for the additional (meager) power demands of a flash drive + 5400rpm hard drive.

Chances of this happening are 0.1%. Apple would be moving backwards.

Having a fusion drive would decrease the overall speed of the system. Not to mention there is absolutely NO Space for a 2nd HD.

Most 'Professionals' have all their work on either a firewire or thunderbolt HD. Very, very few leave all of their work on their actual laptop

I suspect that you will be wrong.

reminds me, i've been meaning to try / test blue tooth audio adapter:

LINK. I'm assuming this will allow me to plug my future rMBP into my current speaker setup painlessly. Do not want an extra cable going into the laptop

I recently got a similar gadget on amazon (Link) It is very nifty. you can plug in anything with an aux port just like you would plug in your computer or phone, but now, I can use the device from across the room at the same time. So nice!

Wouldn't they have done that already? You're wrong. Maybe you can't afford the 768GB SSD, but it's an option for a reason.

Well, i just think that the current rMBP is a darn good laptop. The 13 would be "better" if not for HD4000.

Waiting on a 13" here. My 2009 is running hot and slow these days, and summer isn't helping.

Hopefully we'll see a HD5100 in the 13" minimum, would be great if there was a i7 5200 upgrade option.

Price drop would be lovely too ;)

That's the main reason I'm waiting for the Haswell upgrade (though a couple more hours of battery life wouldn't hurt either). I like the 13" rMBP for the portability, but I want an improved GPU first (HD5100 would be nice). I would also love if Apple made the 13" rMBP as thin as the 15" version (yes, I know 0.04" is such a small difference, but just knowing there's a difference bothers me )

Curious to know if Apple will offer 32GB in the rMBP this time around ....

No chance for the 13" MBP which will probably go from 8GB only to include a 16GB BTO option which is not currently available. Not much chance for the 15" MBP either because Apple will only offer one BTO memory option. That means 16GB would have to be the base for Apple to offer a 32GB BTO option, which is difficult to imagine for 2013. If Apple introduce a 17" rMBP this year, that might come with 16GB base and a 32GB BTO option, but I think either 8GB base and a 16GB BTO option or 16GB with no BTO option would be more likely.
