How is it "not nice"? The problem with pre-announcing products is that it kills sales of your existing products.

A lot of manufacturers don't pre-announce their products. It just so happens to be the case that Apple's users are more passionate than the users of the average brand, so they tend to get in a tizzy about not knowing, the wait, and the hype.

I hate to be rude, but the problem isn't Apple. It's the users. There's really nothing to be angry about here. If the waiting game is too stressful, then maybe you should pick up a current model, or find ways to manage that stress.

TOTALLY AGREE! It's not their problem though it does not change the fact that they piss many of their customers as you can see here. But you are right, they do not torture me to wait or buy their products...

The apple store employees don't know about product updates and new releases till they happen. He may very well end up being right, but don't assume he knows anything for certain.

I guess one of us is wrong and has his cache/history or whatever uncleared. Try a different browser or an iOS device browser (not the app) or may be someone will confirm one of us is right because I am just tired from all of that. I feel like they caused me to be angry which I have not been before in any situation and that, even if they released it at whatever f... time, I will not be happy at all while buying it. I wish I already had any Mac and I would not be even here and just wait for them to overcook it and even burn it if they want, but I am just feeling this because I got very excited to try mac for the first time.

i with you buddy...
it is going to be my first mac aswell, and for me the wait is fine,
its not knowing when is whats so hard...
i think if it wont come out anytime soon i might just get a current gen rmbp,
eventhough i hate buying last year products...

If they would be available tomorrow or in a few days, he would certainly know that they will receive something special, don't you think ? Maybe they will announce it and it will be available in only one or two weeks and yes, he wouldn't know.

just go here: http://store.apple.com/us/configure/MD212LL/A?
then click "add to cart" -> "check out" -> "continue as guest" -> "select apple store for availability" -> then you will see its unavailable until the 25th or later...

60605 - North Michigan Ave is July 26th. That's still only a couple days - what's the big deal. You can't tell me someone can't go to an apple store right now and pick one up. Although 55415 has a ship date of the 29th.

Then again, are we so desperate that we refuse to believe the earlier explanation that the website is currently being upgraded? :apple:

I know everyone will tell me where did you get this from or totally disagree with me or whatever, but I wanna really disappoint and frustrate everyone here including myself and tell you NO NEW PRODUCTS OR REFRESHES ARE BEING RELEASED THIS WEEK. I am ****ing tired...Apple is sick with its secretive attitude as if it is inventing a new planet and this is no longer acceptable as it is not done nicely anymore and makes people really angry and not happy with the money they pay. They make most of the people in this forum sick including me who instead of focusing on their work or whatever they are gonna do with the machine, consider the machine in itself as the goal and life winning. I am so sorry if I have mixed and unorganized thoughts and if I am pissing anyone off, but that is how I feel right now. Sometimes, if one hides a surprise from you for too long time, he can literally ruin it no matter what it was. Apple has to learn to draw the line or I may be just an idiot person who knows nothing about business or how to make people happy....

I did exactly what you wanted and it is available today in store and available to ship within 24 hours too. Tell me a zip code to try if you want me to see the specific outcome for your situation, but I am telling you it will be available and I will send you a screen shot if you want....

See this post and laugh a bit. Honestly, this is what I call New World problems. No need to stress or anger yourself over a laptop.

:p

It really made me laugh a lot and it is VERY True (Every single word of it). May be we need stress management ad learn how to just buy what we need when we need it only...

Seriously, chillax. As someone said, it's not apple's fault. We're the overzealous users who spent far too much time pining over something new and different. To my knowledge, Apple has never announced this new machine so people can't be mad at them because they're taking their time to release a product. Maybe there are bugs and they want them fixed before they sell a $2,000 faulty machine.

Apple never promised anything at anytime. They're not late, they're not stringing us along. Just like some here, I've waited months for my first MBP, but it's my fault for not having one at this very minute. Just like me, you could have purchased one earlier and you can purchase one today.

Either way, it's just a laptop. If you need it for work, your employer can provide it. If you need one for school, go to the library and use one. You're not in need of a heart or lung, it's just a laptop.

That's good. I understand your frustration and was there about a month ago.

Think of the bright side - the money you set aside to buy the laptop has probably netted you $0.23 in interest. :D

Thanks everyone for your wisdom :apple: I guess I have learned now to leave this forum and never be back and just focus on my f... work

Even if we don't see a release today/tomorrow, mid-September is an easy wait. Not that I want to wait that long, but we're almost through with July. We're not in June anymore. I'm certainly not going to purchase the current model with a month and a half to go.

That said, I'm still praying for a release tomorrow.

While Mid Sept is an easy wait, where I am they will have a tax free weekend on computers the first weekend in Aug. So waiting until Sept is going to cost me about $150 more from Apple, then the $100 app card will be in timing jeopardy also. Obviously the tax free route would be the way to go , but I'll bet it will be a longer wait for the internet retailers to get decent stock.

Does your state not have a limit on computers for tax free weekend? I've never bought anything during a tax free weekend but I looked up the information for my state since I'm planning on getting a new rMBP. It says there's a limit on computers of $750. Seems I'm out of luck there :(

$3500 here in NC. I'm in same boat wanting to take advantage of both tax free and BTS

I believe some states allow you the first $750 to be tax free even if the laptop is more than $750.

I don't understand why anyone would fully max out the 15'' rMBP. The extra L3 cache and 100 MHz won't make a measurable difference in anything but benchmarks. Maxxing out the storage might make sense for some, but for $400 you can get a very nice external thunderbolt raid both for extended storage and backups...

Of course, if you can afford it... but I don't understand when some people feel "forced" to buy the maxed out version, since it is clearly not necessary.

Personally, the $2799 model seems to be a nice package, although I would be happy enough with the base model + RAM upgrade.

Edit: For those still following the store pickup availabilities: For me, all Macs are now again "Available Now." I believe there were some temporary hickups, but nothing points to an update :( :( :(

The maxed out current laptop, erm macbook, is the next model's base config. :p

It's not a laptop, it's a Macbook ! :p

I'm still learning. That along with it's pronounced O S Ten, not O S X. LOL

I understand RAM and disk, but I agree with you on the CPU. The higher CPU also has battery consequences (albeit not much).

Hi !

I just saw something a bit weird on the Apple Store app... Next monday (or sunday, for some of them), several stores are closing earlier. In my town and in Paris (+ ALL the AS in France), in Germany, in Italy, in Holland, in Hong-Kong... Could it mean something, like... new Macbook Pro retina ?

I can understand getting the 2.7/16/512 model over the base but paying extra for the 2.8 is plain stupid.

Sorry, just trying to protect everyone from the eventual disappointment.

I know! Im not having a good feeling about today either :( as much as want to believe in a July launch, Im starting to suck up the September/October timeframe ( although I dont want too :D)
