Not sure if this question has been asked, but in your opinions, do you think that new macbook pros will have soldered ram too? If so I might just settler for an older 2012 non retina one.

Refurbs just came back into stock. Hmm.

Yeah and the most interesting one too: 16GB/512. Exactly what I want. But it's a June 2012. I don't know how I feel about that.

Still thinking a lot about what I should do now. Technically I can wait until the end of August. But then I might as well wait until mid September. I don't want Apple to delay it to October though. That's going to suck a lot.

Anyone else starting school at the end of August too? What are you guys planning to do?

I want the 16/768 so I can triple boot (256GB Linux, 128GB Windows 7/8 and the rest for OSX). :D But yeah, I'm not sure how I feel about year-old tech. Then again, people are still buying 17" refurb MBPs.

Interesting :)

Geekbench app signs the result with a DSA private key, does a 128bits hash (likely a MD5), and sends it to its server. I am quite sure the private key used for signing is embedded in Geekbench binary code. If someone could disassemble their code and get it, he would be able to send any trash that would be considered valid by GB website. I have already been able to send trash data to GB but couldn't find out the private key to sign the content... May be someone did it and is playing jokes with those benchmarks... :D

Weak blurs there xD I'm from the same place. It could just be me tricking my eyes into thinking the street you live on is the one I'm thinking of, but I doubt it.

Well, it's St. John university and we know his first name. Let's see what else we can find out so we can divert the order.

For the students, I find it dumb to release in October. The school session is halfway done at that point and I don't think most students will have the lion-share of their summer savings so late in the year.

I know that Apple is supposedly "doubling down" on secrecy but since we've seen leaked SKUs already this year I'm going to go ahead and say that a silent refresh tomorrow is highly unlikely.

In 2011 the MacBook Air was refreshed on July 20th [1] and the earnings call was on the 19th [2]. I was looking to see if there were any SKU leaks prior to the call and turns out there was [3] although they expected them to be released prior to the earnings call, on the 14th.

Too bad Mr. X isn't around right now to provide us with some insights this year.

I think most of us have given up on a silent refresh tomorrow. But I'm just wondering what Apple is thinking by not releasing them.

There's no way I could buy the current rMBP now given the Haswell rMBP would be out in 1.5 months max, as much as I need it now. Still playing the waiting game here.

Watch the apple store go down tonight, and then it just be for maintenance

Strange that Apple is waiting so long to update the rMBP. From the recent rumours it seems September or even October are the most likely months, so the MBA will be better than the "Pro" notebook in terms of SSD, WiFi and battery performance for a good 3-4 months.

Apple better have something special in store that vindicates the late arrival (maybe IGZO display, TB2 etc).

I will be very disappointed if it is simply a new CPU/GPU combo with updates to the SSD and WiFi similar to the MBA.

Perhaps we will see Thunderbolt 2. It would make sense.

What if they are designing a killer thermal paste that will reduce the heat but shorten the life of your rMBP... :D
