Yep! The guessing continues.

Just doing my part here to get the post count over 5000 :D

lol!! Congrats!! :D:D

Intel could have built a quad-core 28W Haswell chip, but it would have been comprised in some way, such an anemic GPU or small cache sizes or low clock rate. I once expected it too, before I realized how much emphasis Intel would put into improving the GPU.

Intel has a 37W quad core (4702HQ), which only draws 2W more than the current i7 in the 13". It only has 4600 graphics though, so unlikely Apple'd use it.

While I've been one of those expecting an October release, I'm starting to think September may be more likely.

Why? Because the rumors about what we'll see in the iPhone 5S/5C and iOS7 don't seem to contain enough "new" stuff to fill an entire Apple event.

iPhone: there's not much "significant" hardware news -- a slight performance increase, camera upgrade, fingerprint sensor, lower cost/colored version, and a couple other trivial bits.

iOS7: there's not much in the rumors (including from beta "sneak peaks") to suggest that there's that much to talk about in iOS7 -- new "flatter" Ive-led UI, some additional features -- usual stuff.

Doesn't strike me as enough to fill a typical Apple show.

Coupled with the rumors that the iPad update will be later (and that iOS7 for iPad may be behind), I'm thinking that the Haswell MBP's make a nice complement to the iPhone/iOS7 to "fill out" the event -- and in fact may be the only other hardware that is "ready" for presentation at the September 10 event.

but but.. there will be a gold iphone! :D they could talk about that for at least a half hour

Maybe this:

September event: iPhone, iOS, rMBP's
October event: iPad, iPad mini with retina, Mac Pro, Mavericks

That's pretty much what I'm thinking.

Maybe Mavericks in September with the rMBP? I know the Apple engineers are all working on iOS, but it makes sense to me to release iOS7 with Mavericks because of features like sending a Maps location to your iPhone and the global/shared notifications.

I don't see why we wouldn't just assume it's going to be iPhone/iOS7 in September. And MBPr and Mavericks in October. I don't see why it would be any other way

That's what I've been thinking! Some of these other posts started making me feel crazy!

Um, I don't see why you're convinced there needs to be an "event" dedicated to introducing an incremental upgrade to a non-iOS product line.

I suspect that Apple will roll Mavericks, the Mac Pro, and the MBP line all in one event. It would be a nice round pr event covering their Mac computer line.

simply another dgpu.

lets make this clear, while there will be probably a version without a dgpu, there will be a version with dgpu.

while we are here lets just say that geekench is another trash synth benchie that serves no purpose

Highly agree. This is why I doubt the Iris Pro benchmarks. Way to convenient for an iGPU.

I was telling you that you don't have to apologize for considering something "crazy" (an event introducing non-iOS products). I then proposed a completely ludicrous topic as proof that ideas on a rumor site do not need to have any base in reality.

Apple will ship the Haswell MBP when they are able to produce them in sufficient volume. Period. It's not about back-to-school, the timing of the iOS announcement, the Mavericks release, etc. The idea that Apple would sit on the new product just because "October would be a good time to ship" makes no sense.

i went ahead and bought the current gen last week, i couldn't wait any longer because college starts in a few days and i wanted to get all of my software that i needed downloaded

hf the rest of you waiting! i wish i could have haha

Apple has a history of paving it's own path - not so sure it will fall in line with 'common sense'...

Apple do not have a history of sitting on new products or technology until "the right time". This is not Operation Barbarossa. Apple will ship the Haswell MBPs when they can get enough suitable Haswell chips from Intel.

If I can wait for Sept 10, I can wait for October. Heck I can wait for Feb 2014.. don't want to, but I'm just not going to buy until the new rMBP is out.

Same boat here. I've waited long enough that buying the current gen will mean I wasted all this time for nothing.

I'm inclined to agree with this. There were rumours recently about the iPad update being pushed out later and since the Mac Pro is scheduled for later this year, it makes more sense to bundle them together in one announcement since each one on their own isn't enough for a full event. Though I have to agree with polymersayb that Mavericks and iOS 7 might debut together so that Apple can show off the integration and stuff like airdrop between the two.

Apple knows that the majority of people is only interested in iRelated stuff. So, although doing an event about iOS/iPhone/iPad and doing a seperate event about OS X/rMBP/MacPro makes more sense, they will want the peoples attention.

The only effective way of doing so is by having iStuff on each of the events.
So iOS/OSX/iPhone/rMBP in September and iPad/MacPro/... in October is the way to go!

Or maybe this is just wishfull thinking :D

no... logic can be found everywhere (if you need it)..
iOS/iPhone/(r)MBP = September; iPad/Mac Pro/Mac Mini/Mavericks/iMac = October; and February new (r)MBP to fix whatever major hardware problem they have as usual...

BUT, with no MBP rumors I don't think we will see new MBP September...

No. Apple is focused on people's money. This is the target... :D
