Here's what I think will happen in the events.

September 10th:
- iPhone:
aaaa- iPhone 5s
aaaa- iPhone 5c
- iPad:
aaaa- iPad mini
aaaa- iPad??? Maybe (however small the odds)
- iPod:
aaaa- iPod Shuffle
aaaa- iPod Nano
aaaa- iPod Classic
- Airport Express

Late October:

- iMac
- Mac Mini
- Mac Pro
- MacBook Pro Retina (standerd MacBook 15' cancelled)
- Displays

Early 2014:

- iWatch
- iTV
- Apple TV

Of course, this is all speculation and there is no reason for anybody to believe this as the truth. In my eyes it makes sense to do it like this for the items in each event are similar ie. iPod/iPhone vs Computers vs New market segments.

The iPads won't be at the September event.

Also, having a whole event to just show off spec upgrades? That would only take 15-20 minutes. It's not like they need to show off a Mac they've updated (I don't think they've ever done that).

"Let's see how fast this updated rMBP opens Safari" --- 5 minutes later ---- "Okay, let's fire up Safari on the new Mac Pro".

Would make no sense :D so there's no chance they only would announce spec upgrade in ONE event. Then they could just make it a silent upgrade.

They announce spec upgrades together with "big" updates. In this case, possible iPad event. They'd show off games utilizing the new A-CPU, and how amazing a retina iPad mini is etc. :p

This time it's real folks http://9to5mac.com/2013/09/03/apple-announces-its-september-10-iphone-media-event/

My guess is that at least one of MBP, iMac, Mac mini, or Mac Pro will be announced as an "... and one more thing" at the end, with shipping before the end of September.

How the keynote is going to take place:
Coldplay fades, Tim Cook appears on stage - audience applauses.
10 min on new stores, amount of money they gave to devs.
Federighi comes on stage and talks about iOS 7.
Schiller announces iPhone 5S.
Cook teases about new iPhone 5C and announces it.

Bonus:
They talk about 10.9 and new machines designed to run it.

And scene.

Just wanted to chime in and say thank you to the people who are hesitating between the Haswell and previous Ivy Bridge. It's so easy to get all caught up in the idea of the latest and greatest that the utility view goes out the window.

My 17" rarely leaves the power plug and sits on my desk. I don't want a Mac Pro as I do need portability at times.

Question for one of the graphics card people (I'm completely ignorant here), the old graphics card should be able to run dual 24" monitors just fine, correct? I do music production so quality of graphics isn't huge aside from not having the screens lag. I haven't tried driving both with the 17" as I will not pay for a USB adapter to get video up and running.

The 650m will have no problem driving two displays. It's a faster chip than the HD 5200 that is expected to drive 4K displays. Things might get a little more difficult if you want to run 2 high res externals (say 2560x1440) and the integrated 5 million pixel display at the same time, as this is now over 12 million pixels, but I can't say exactly where you'll hit the performance wall. I'm sure someone else knows, but this may not be the right thread to get more info on this topic.

This is all I need to know. I'm running two 1920 x 1200 displays with the MBP in clamshell mode. I appreciate the info. Looks like I'll take advantage of the early 2013 models for a discount unless something spectacular comes from the new ones.

Thanks!

I don't think they'll talk about money to devs; it's not a developer event.

Instead, they'll show videos of how happy people are with their iPhone. It's the solution for everything. Everyone's happy, and have a great life.

Other than that, I agree with you :D

Stock shortages suggest that, in addition to the iPhone 5S and 5C debuting at the event, we'll also see an update to the iMac.

No reports of MacBook Pro stock shortages yet. Though that might just be because people are waiting for the next model instead of buying them.

I thought I read one about stock shortages for the MBP from Best Buy or somewhere else. But at the very least, a lot of places are selling them at extreme discounts which hints at a refresh.

Not super promising on that front. I feel like the hardcore specs-obsessed nerds who are postponing their MBP purchase are a very small (albeit disproportionately vocal) minority. Most people just go to the store and buy something when they need it. (If only it were that easy...!) ;)

Anyway, no MBP stock shortages either means an October release date is more likely, or maybe they'll just have more early-2013 MBPs to clear out at bargain basement prices! Not holding my breath for the latter.

Hang on--where are these "extreme discounts" at, Gman? $200 off a $2800 laptop does not an extreme discount make...

What's the problem to simply put an haswell in the MBP? They even fit in an air. Do you still have too many retinas in stock because now one is buying them at the moment?
There are currently kind of no reasons to buy a MBP!
