My guess is that at least one of MBP, iMac, Mac mini, or Mac Pro will be announced as an "... and one more thing" at the end, with shipping before the end of September.

How the keynote is going to take place:
Coldplay fades, Tim Cook appears on stage - audience applauses.
10 min on new stores, amount of money they gave to devs.
Federighi comes on stage and talks about iOS 7.
Schiller announces iPhone 5S.
Cook teases about new iPhone 5C and announces it.

Bonus:
They talk about 10.9 and new machines designed to run it.

And scene.

Actually recently Apple has been putting the "less important" updates at the beginning of the keynote and the more important items at the end.

So if there are going to be Mac updates at the September 10th event I think they will happen before they talk about iOS 7 and new iPhones.

At WWDC they did Mac stuff first before the big iOS 7 reveal, and at the iPad Mini even they did all of the Mac refreshes before revealing the new iPads.

Here's what I am doing in preperation for September 10.

I am going to put my 15 inch retina MacBook Pro and my 21.5 inch late 2012 iMac up on eBay as an auction for 10 days. 10 days from now is September 13. Now, if no Haswell Retina MacBook Pro's or iMacs are announced on September 10, I can simply cancel the auction. That way I am not without a computer for who knows howlong. But, if new Haswell Retina MacBook Pros and iMacs are announced, I will keep the auction live and sell it on the 13th.

Also, I am for sure going to be trading in my iPhone 5 this week! 5S or 5C? Time will tell.

The iMac is the base $1299 model and has been used for 8 months and is in great condition.

The Retina MacBook Pro has been used for 2 months and it is the base $2799 model. It's also in great condition.

How much could I get? I plan to start the iMac at $300 and the MacBook Pro at $800

I don't think iPhone 5->5C would be an upgrade. It would be a downgrade.but you may come out with more money? maybe? i don't know how much you get for the trade-in

Are you sure you want to upgrade your desktop for Haswell? This is a power efficiency and iGPU CPU update. In the circles I work in I don't know anyone on Ivy who will be building a Haswell desktop.

The only reason to get the 5C would be if you're strapped for cash - the 5S will likely be a lot better (better camera & processor, thinner, etc).

Macs really don't lose their value all that much in the first several months, so I would expect to only lose a couple hundred on each. I upgrade my laptop (MBP) every year, and lose a couple hundred after a year of use.

Hope it goes smoothly for you! Upgrading computers/phones can be easy, but can be a pain sometimes as well.

I know performance gains will be minor, but I am all for 802.11ac Wi-Fi and this time, I will order the new machine with a fusion drive. When I bought it 8 months ago, the fusion drive was not available for the 21.5 inch $1299 model, but now it is.

Fair enough... in fact in retrospect I know better than to question someone's desire for a system upgrade, that's just rude. And actually I think that going from HDD only to a system with any form of SSD, even as a cache drive, will be a very noticeable improvement. I just put an SSD in my 17" MBP and it feels like a whole new system compared to the old 5400rpm drive (though it still has the physical dimensions of a submarine).

I bought the late 2013 iMac and Im kicking myself because I want the 802.11ac, wonder if they will make an adapter

I cant believe that I'm still following this thread.
I've read every single one of the 6k post.
And for the last 3k, there cant have been more then a total of 10 interesting thoughts or observations, that actually brings some new information, or tangible speculations to the table.

By this point I'm not sure if I'm going to be happier about the announcement of the new rMBP, or the fact that I don't have to compulsively check this thread every day. :)-

In for post #6000! :D

NICE WORK:cool:

The 5C isn't going to have Siri, which has become quite handy for me

Looking back at news earlier this year, it seems that it was about seven days before the last event that (Air) SKUs leaked. Hmmm...

So I don't know about you guys. But I spot four white (hollow) circles, with what look like silver-like borders to me.

iMac
13" rMBP
15" rMBP
???

Anyone?

The return of the 17" and the new 21" rMBP. That form factor's going to take some getting used to.

Just to add some content (though still nonsense)... If I'm Apple I'm going to release the MBP refresh now because there is little to no interest in the US markets in anything they're doing with the iPhone this year.

People who skipped the IP5 will get the IP5S, but they don't need a media event to know that. Anyone who wasn't impressed with the IP5 isn't coming back for the S. Serial upgraders will upgrade no questions asked. The C is for other markets and will not impress the US audience. iOS 7 is old news since it already got a big demo in June, though it will get a launch obviously

I'm not saying they will do it -- in fact it seems very unlikely -- I'm saying that it's going to be a giant snore if they don't. Every blog will be posting about how uninteresting this event was if they only drop the IP5S and IP5C. The iPad event can probably stand on its own; Apple is still the undisputed king of tablets and they'll have at the very least a new iPad form factor to show off (higher res mini is also a definite possibility IMO).

I'm sure they know better than me how to handle these things, but either way that's what I'd do.

I've been expecting "one more thing" for every apple event in recent years and I've been pretty much disappointed. Hopefully you're right. This does seem to be only iOS 7/iPhone 5S/C event though.

Don't get me wronf, I want the new MBP to be presented already and end this waiting game but... Is anybody else going to miss the thrill of checking this thread on a daily basis?
Please don't start throwing rocks at me...

Idk, probably not. The holiday season is coming up so usually by mid October I'm preoccupied with many other things in my life.

With that being said, I feel like at this point the rMBP refresh is going to be extremely underwhelming. By the time it's released, 2 months later next years tech will already be coming out...

I understand new stuff comes out every 4-6 months, but if they don't do another (full) refresh next June, I'm surely going to be annoyed waiting till October/November. Seeing as I don't plan to upgrade just for this light bump - Haswell

I'll miss the thrill, I guess. But I won't miss those times in the middle of a workday when I take a break and decide to go to the Apple Online store and I'm so tempted to just pull the trigger and finish the purchasing process. Those are also the times the officemate who sits next to me says "Still waiting for the new Macbook, eh?" because I'd let out an audible groan.

Everyone excited for the big announcement next week?

Yeah, of course! Already planned the evening with one of my Apple friends :D Pizza, beer, Apple. No disappointment if they do not announce the rMBP. I'm hooked because of the iPhone - rMBP would just be a bonus :D
