You're still worried about the screen after more than a year? Pretty sure the LG screens are just fine now.
That is a good point and one I hadn't considered. I still think it's a year too soon to go iGPU only in the 15" rMBP and it's only rumored. Maybe no pre-announcement is cryptic evidence that the Haswell rMBP will come with an option for a dGPU?![]()
Hmmm, that is possible. But if I'm right, then it's almost certain that there will be no discrete GPU for the 15-inch.
By that logic you would be right. Unless Apple thinks that the performance of the iGPU is going to be 'good enough'.
I can see them touting some benchmark that makes the iGPU seem like it's incrementally faster but is much more energy efficient. In that case Apple wouldn't see the need to warn anyone about lack of a dGPU. I hope they don't do that because IMO it's too soon. But it's not out of the realm of possibility.

Or they put the 4950hq in the 13'' rMBP. Not impossible. This debate is only speculation. It's totally irrelevant what the majority thinks or tries to present as logical consequence (poll is 54% for iGPU only). It's fun, but nothing is safe until we have new detailed hints or Apple launches the new rMBPs.
Are you suggesting the old screens have somehow lost the image retention/ghosting issue over time? I mentioned I bought a refurb, not new, so these are still old notebooks.
There's an extremely good chance that your refurb has a perfectly fine LG screen.
Well we find out very soon...... Or at the most a month![]()

The Haswell MBP announcement and release could come as late as February if Apple cannot amass sufficient stock to keep up with holiday season demand. Apple will not repeat last year's mistake of releasing the new iMac before they had sufficient stock in hand.
Yeah, the only reason why it seems like a lot of people have IR is because no one will go online, search it about it, and post about it unless they have the problem themselves.
By the way, did I make your poll big enough on the website? It wasn't letting me make it bigger.

I'm going to miss the Haswell rmbp waiting threadI know most people won't as basically most people here have been pissed off because Apple didn't release it earlier.
Well, I hope you are right. That said, I may end up cancelling my order if they announce the Haswell rMBP this Tuesday.
It looked good to me! ::thumbs up:: And good write up - it's gonna be really interesting to look back after all is said and done!

Roger that - just keep an eye on the screen. At least you have a couple options.
I don't know who is the genius, who thought that it would be a good idea to release everything in the fall.
Oppenheimer said Apple is on track to have a "very busy fall"..
I hope that means more than iPhone and Mac Pro by October.

Not if Apple announce the rMBP on Sep 10 before Intel's keynote![]()
