We know it's been a long thread as you wait for the Haswell MacBook Pros but please try to keep the discussion on topic and no more petty bickering!

Thank you.

Haha, I can almost "feel" the frustration of waiting for Haswell in your words...

But ya, I am just going to keep it. If haswell becomes uber desirable to me later, I am sure I can still make a little profit off this machine.

Thanks for all y'alls input!

Enjoy that thing, you lucky SOB!!

Nice avatar pic.

Thanks. :)

Haha, both GSpice and powerslave12r reflect my conflicting thoughts!

No help! Kidding.. :)

But I think I am leaning towards GSpice. If I think about it, ~7 hrs of battery life is plenty for my needs, and im never really far from an outlet.

Like I said, the ram and ssd will haunt you if pay $1000 *more* for *half* the memory and ssd space. :)

Nah, I gotta wait until I get my 2013-2014 June report card. If I have an 85 GPA or higher, I'll get it. Well actually my parents would be buying it for me. I probably could contribute if I get a job next summer.

So then how come you want a rMBP specifically, or even a Mac? Is it important to your workflow? Just asking. Must suck to not be able to buy something big like this on your own.

He must still be in high school. If I were in his shoes, I would LOVE for my parents to buy me a $2k+ laptop! :)

Well, I haven't had very good experiences with windows, and I really love OSX. I also don't believe in buying a cheap PC, which will just crap out in a couple of years, over and over again. I would rather buy something that lasts for 6 or more years. I would think a rmbp would last me a pretty long time. I'm going to get a 13-inch rmbp, as my budget is 1300$. It really does suck to make my parents pay for it, I would really rather buy it myself. But I'm still a kid (grade 9 student), and I can still reap the advantages of that:D.

Sometimes it's a bad thing to be an adult and have no budget for buying Apple products, hehe.

Yeah true.:D

More likely a base model 13-inch rmbp. $1300~ Yeah, most likely I'm not going to be able to pay for it at all, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, although I don't really get the joy of purchasing it myself.

:) Well I have a job at Barnes & Noble~ Once I got out of high school I started working and collected 1500$ in 3-4 months... So it is possible to pay it yourself if you start searching for a job as soon as possible. (I understand working and going to school is hard... But it get's worse in college, trust me.) But why pay it for yourself if your parents are willing to pay for you? ;) Maybe I'm just spoiled, but my grandfather bought me my rMBP 15" since I needed it for my major.

Are you sure it didn't "fall off a truck"?

Hahaha. But a serious concern ;) :D

99% chance my parents will buy it, but they'll only pay $1300 and I probably will need some upgrades beyond the base model.

Technically speaking, it's on topic because he is giving an example on how I could make money to buy a rmbp, and if I have the money, then I would be waiting for the new rmbp. In reality, I'm actually waiting for next year's rmbp, and most likely will only pay a very small amount of the actual price.

I meant I deleted my own comment. Because it was off topic. Forgot to take the quote out

I'm a she dear. ;) And yes, I understand about needing something beyond the base model.. That's how I feel about my rMBP now actually... I still have time to return it and get the 16GB/512 SSD model... But saving my money for my first iPhone...

I think releasing Touch ID on Mac Pro first is a good strategy. It will be a flagship feature for iOS; rapidly deploying it on the Macs will increase the branding everywhere. Of course, a critical factor is having apps (rapidly followed by an API) for both platforms.

Your "flagship to flagship" idea is understandable but unreasonable.

Fingerprint id is more used in mobile product that it needs protection. a Mac Pro is basically a desktop machine that stayed at home, need no such level.

Plus iphone 5S would be sold to millions of people. But Mac pro would only be purchased by a very small group of user, which is almost pointless.

Just to play devil's advocate, touch id would seem very useful (and has been from other laptop manufacturers I would presume), in the corporate environment where security is rather important.

Here physical access to the machine does not imply permissions to use it/access data on it.

Last year WWDC at June, apple announced 15inch RMBP, then announced 13inch RMBP at Oct 24th.

Apparently, it would make more sense to release all size RMBP together this year. So they picked the later date which is in October.

This would make sense, and have them all on the same cycle year to year. Their earning call should be around Oct 23rd, I wonder if the will hold the special event on the 16th of October :apple:. Either way, we should be hearing something in the near future about there being a "One more thing to show you" event.

Sorry, I always seem to assume everyone on the forum is male. Well my first iPhone will be a few more years down the line, as right now I've got a Motorola Razr V. It's an ok midrange android phone. It all depends on what next year's 13-inch rmbp base model is. If it's 256gb, I'll get 16 GB of RAM if they add that next year. I won't need more than 256gb, and if I do, I'll just buy an external hard drive.

Probably more like, "A couple of things we didn't show you last time due to supply constraints":D:D

It's understandable... Not many females are into electronics like that. But yeah, I have a crappy Samsung Phone, so I desperately need an upgrade. And mind if I ask why you would need 16GB of RAM? Is there a certain major you're trying to get into for college? (And yes, you can always get an External HDD, it's cheaper to get than getting an upgrade.)

I think we'll see the new pros Sep 20 or mid Oct. The 20th is because of the fact that the back to school sale ended on the 6th and apple has a 14 day return policy. Putting a pin on the 20th. But that is unlikely because they will most likely do it with the new iPads. I also think the new pros will only have retina display, and won't have IGZO. Usually apple brings the new flashy tech to the Mobile line first. So well see a IGZO MBP next year after the six is released, most likely. Now one aspect I can't figure out is the super drive. Apple stated they won't 86 it yet due to the fact that to many uses have use for it. I also don't see then holding on to the legacy pros. They could squeeze a drive in the rMBP, but that would be quite the challenge. Oh and sorry guys, PHILLY boy here. I see a ID scanner on the Mac line eventually, and it would make sense for the MBP to have, but I would not count on it this year.
