October would be my guess
Ok - is this when the Mac Pro is anticipated?

No. No no no no no!
The obvious problem with dislocating the Touch-ID device from the computer is exposing the validation mechanism to man-in-the-middle (or maybe device-in-the-middle) attacks. If the path between the fingerprint and its validation has external wires, you can count on the fact that those wires will be hacked. You can never eliminate that threat, but you can do a pretty darn good job minimizing it -- by having the Touch ID device firmly installed. Right. On. The. Computer.
Well someone could just as easily take the casing off the Mac Pro and access the cables from the inside.
University students always get the better discounts. Probably because they're paying for their education.
Just as easily, eh?
I think the point is that this fingerprint scanning stuff just makes more sense on portable devices, since these are exponentially more vulnerable to theft than desktop computers. I can't see Apple making it a priority to put it on Mac Pros or iMacs, at least not anytime soon.
But iPads? Definitely. Laptops? Probably, just not likely this year.
Anybody else want a dedicated power button?
Based on previous product launch dates, I'd guess that Apple will have an event between 21-25 October ish where they'll launch the updated iPad, iPad mini, Macbook Pro, iMac, Mac Mini and new Mac Pro, possibly with a new iPod lineup.
It already has a dedicated power button. Unless you meant separate from the keyboard?
Yes I mean beside the keyboard. Like its own button. Like on the legacy pros
I hear dates suggesting the 24th, 21st, etc...are these september dates or october dates?
The thing is, if they are "just" going to update to haswell, why didn't they do it when they updated the airs? What is taking so long? Maybe they are doing more changes?
Yeah, I don't know why they changed it.
I think the predictions at the moment are 24th of September, 2 weeks after the BTS promotion ends, and around the 22nd of October, a year after the 13" rMBP was originally released.
Apple had to get early access to the Haswell processors for the Air, but the potential chips for the Pro weren't ready in volume at the time.
Probably to save that tiny bit of space, but it might also have looked bad aesthetically with the reduced bezel.
I can see Apple having 2 more events this year. There's too much left for one event. An iPad event similar to the iPhone event we've just had, and a Back to Mac type event.
Yep, that is what I think too. I think the next event will be the iPads followed by a 'Mac' event showing off Mavericks, the Mac Pro, and the notebook line.
Uh-oh, I guess this could signify that there will be no 16 GB of RAM this year for the 13-inch: http://www.pcworld.com/article/2048...surrances-after-facility-fire.html#tk.rss_all

On the other hand the lack of any solid rumours makes me thing it's not going to be anything major.
I don't see why they'd need 2. To be honest it only takes 5 minutes to talk about the new iPads. Unless they were planning on introducing a new 12" iPad, which won't be for another couple years probably.
