They are the ones who want to get this out the door more than ANYONE of us here. They would present it to us on a silver platter today if they had it ready.

Apple themselves stand to lose the most from the delay.

So take solace in the fact that we can be assured they are working as hard as they can and are not holding out on us or something.

Finally, a little sanity.

My current MBP is taking its last breaths Apple, where the **** is my refresh. At least leak something you incompetent *******s.

I'm right there with you. I've skated by not having to pay for repairs on my 2009 MBP even though AppleCare expired over a year ago.

Regardless I'd like a machine that won't require repairs for a while!

Well I hope the design is already fixed from months.

They need time to produce some hundred thousands / millions rMBP that must be produced before the presentation.

I guess the delay is not even an Apple fault but, more likely, Intel's late.

Well, interesting the rumors posted before:

D'après nos informations, les stocks d'iMac sont au plus bas dans les boutiques physiques

Selon les derniers bruits de couloir, Apple tiendra un nouveau special event le 15 octobre prochain.

I was just thinking the same thing this afternoon. How awesome would a black aluminum unibody rMBP be.

They probably won't do a dark black color based on how well the black iPhone 5 held up over time.

If they do a new color it would probably be the same as the new Space Gray color being used for the iPhone 5S and the iPods.

This means you're allowed to treat them abusively?

Awwwww :)

I was going to comment on how the brand Apple has atleast a responsibility to people who are depending on them etc, but then I thought about it from Apple's POV.

They are the ones who want to get this out the door more than ANYONE of us here. They would present it to us on a silver platter today if they had it ready. Every day they delay is some money lost. Tim Cook must be losing his hair. Apple themselves stand to lose the most from the delay.

No...

I would assume that if Steve Jobs was still in charge. Not with Tim Cook.

Yay! Another "If Steve Jobs were in charge.." post!

So you are suggesting they're on the beaches of California, perhaps Mavericks itself, surfing and drinking beer with Tim Cook doing a keg stand?

No, please smarten up.

SJ had an amazing ability to focus certain teams while running the company as usual.

Good news everyone the rumor on the street says the keynote is planned for Oct 15

Source in French http://www.macg.co/news/voir/261224/des-stocks-d-imac-au-plus-bas-et-un-special-event-le-15-octobre

Edit: 9to5 has just posted something on this http://9to5mac.com/2013/09/16/rumeur-apples-next-event-to-be-held-on-october-15th/ Gurman seems skeptical.

Maybe we'll get a Jim Dalrymple "yep" at some point in the next couple of weeks for the 15th or the 23rd. Of course hope it's the 15th. That is if there is no silent update this month on the 24th. Holding out some small hope for the latter.

Smarten up to realize that Steve Jobs running the company a certain way implies that Tim Cook and team aren't doing the hardest work they can?

I don't think I can be as smart as you since you seem to know how Apple works inside out, enough to comment on Tim Cook's work ethic and style.

Bottomline is Tim Cook is in charge and "he's not Steve Jobs" doesn't mean he isn't working his ass off.

His confirmations do seem to come within a couple weeks of what he's confirming/denying, if I'm not mistaken. Should be interesting.

Why do people think there has been a delay? We don't know when Intel promised to deliver Haswell chips to Apple. They may be ahead of schedule, for all we know.

It's not a question of whether or not Apple can add a discrete GPU. Of course they could add one, just as they could rifle handgrips for gamers. The question is whether or not Apple will add a discrete GPU.

The whole point of Iris Pro 5200 HD graphics, which Intel developed largely for Apple, is to obviate the need for a discrete GPU by providing good integrated graphics performance. So, if Apple were to include a discrete GPU in the 15" Haswell MBPs (which I think would be an insane business decision and I would sell my AAPL stock if they did it), then it would be paired with a Haswell GPU with weaker HD 4600 integrated graphics.

Intel HD 4600 plus a discrete GPU would, in my opinion, be crazy. Iris Pro 5200 plus a discrete GPU would be double crazy.

I suggest you sell your stock then. Also, if that's the way you run your stocks you might want to get into a different game ;) stocks would go up (or remain unchanged) from an "Intel iGPU" and a "dGPU".

Keep in mind Iris Pro comes with the CPU. And the HD 4600 model isn't infinitly cheaper.

Maybe apple should have put AC Wifi, PCI-e SSD, and Ivy Bridge in a case and shoved it out as an update in June. Then had another update for Haswell in October. Would you be happy then?

I wonder if they're gonna change the color of the aluminum unibody..

I'm usually an "if it ain't broke"/"keep it simple" kinda guy, but I must admit I'd probably fork over an extra $50 for a black or "space gray" MBP. That thing would be dead sexy. (Scratches would really suck though.)
