I guess it's because it got world wide but it's true I don't see that as a clue either.

A bit off-topic who got a shiny new 5s today? :D

I ordered one within a minute or so of launch, and somewhere in the middle of ordering, ship time jumped from 1-3 to 7-10 days. But! The good (and relevant) part of this is that we're running out of Apple products to focus on; hopefully we'll get more Mac news now!

We are under 1,000 replies from tying/beating the "I just ordered" thread. Possibly this thread will pass that thread before the new rMBPs come out?

All Macs are 1-2 days. I guess it's maybe because of the iPhone launch.

The iMac is still 'within 24 hours'.

Maybe if the the Haswell rMBP's are released this Tuesday we can bury this thread before it reaches that point :D

I'm trying to think of the seminal bits of technology in my life: where one company created a tool that made a huge difference in the world. I think that HP did that back in 1972 with the HP35 (good Wikipedia article). HP co-founder Bill Hewlett issued a SJ-like challenge to his engineering staff, and they delivered.
I had not thought about it this way, but "seminal" is exactly the right word.

I purchased an HP-41C in 1979, IIRC. It was a "seminal" moment in my life -- cutting edge hand-held power, with built in programmability. Optional plug-in memory and application program modules, and available magnetic card/strip reader. Made mincemeat of my engineering student assignments at the time.

Still have/use it. Long live RPN!

So when do we now think the rMBP is likely to come??

A few weeks before Mavericks with the free upgrade offer??
Alongside Mavericks?

Is there even an event scheduled for October?? If so, when??

Wouldn't that be nice. Here I am watching youtube videos of people with their new macs. Pathetic, I am!

I am not a candidate for Haswell because I'm a pragmatic individual and just can't justify getting rid of a perfectly good Sandy Bridge cMBP. (That, and the wife sez I can't have one )

But the sooner Haswell comes, the closer we get to Broadwell.

I see!

A maxed out 15" rMBP is at 1-3 days (and not 1-2 as the base). Interesting.

Could be a sign of them emptying their stock. Or just they are really busy shipping millions of iPhones.

There's no events scheduled for October. Apple usually sends out invites one week before the event is set to happen.

Most people think it will be released in late-October. But some are keeping high hopes on a late-September release next week :) If it's released next week, it'll come with a free upgrade to Mavericks if Mavericks is released next month (their up-to-date program usually covers all purchases one month before OS release).

Let's just hope something is on the way pretty soon because I really need a rMBP for my high school work.

I feel you man, I actually bought a late rMBP in august, but returned it due to lag with the retina screen (scroll lag in browser, lagg when scrolling through a lot of mails or pictures).
I started school september 2 with the hopes that the new mac would be release this september, and now I have to wait until late october, or maybe even longer?

This is getting SO annoying for me, but I can't wait for the feeling when you can actually order the new one!

Guys, I had the Retina Macbook Pro in my cart on Amazon... and the status changed to "This item is no longer available from the seller you selected" by Apple! Does this mean something maybe?

Yeah, good to hear from someone in a similar situation!

I tried a rMBP out when it first came out in the Apple Store and I have to agree with you on the lag issues; the processor/GPU especially simply isn't powerful enough to handle all those pixels without some lag in noticeable areas.

I'm pretty sure we'll not see anything the next week. The last rumor we had about MBP is dated 22 August. At this moment no leaked pictures and not even a news. If you remember last year we had infos about rMBP 13'' before going out. I can bet we won't see anything then people don't waste your time waiting for and enjoy the last days of September.

Just checked on Amazon UK; also reporting out of stock, with 1 Feb 2013 model available from a third-party reseller. All in all, stock levels look very low across the board.

I got mine. Black face, 64 gig. Coming from the 4S it's pretty nice. 5 hour wait and there were 300 behind me
