I personally see no need for a fingerprint scanner on a pc. How many times a day do you lock and unlock it vs a mobile device.
You meant on a MAC...

btw... I do!... i lock and unlock my mac dozens of times per day!

I think it would be awesome! if Apple uses the same iPhone 5S fingerprint technology, into the new Haswell rMBP late 2013 edition.

What i would like to see is the return of the physical power button to the right top area, and the fingerprint scanner built inside the power button, just like the home button in the iphone 5S.

THAT WOULD BE AWESOME! :D

Ps.- That, and the 32Gb ram BTO option :p:p

I highly doubt a 4k screen for this update.

I do think October 15 or 22 are likely release dates.

Agreed, still have high hopes for IGZO though. Powering a 4K Cinema Display over TB2 with the rmbp seems plausible to me. An exterior redesign wouldn't shock me as well. It could use some cues from the Mac Pro to make a cohesive Pro line.

I dated a girl who worked for Apple out at Cupertino( in an executive position). She said one way to know a refresh is coming is to look at the refurbs, if they aren't restocked on Monday morning a refresh is possibly coming. I just checked and sure enough the refurbs haven't been refreshed since Friday. So take it for what it's worth. I just got a refurb 2012 15inch retina on Thursday so I could careless about Haswell upgrades but I do hope u guys that have waited get New Macs soon!!

A few publications have alluded to this:

But where are these alleged benchmarks? They don't show any charts or pages no geekbench scores, where are the benchmarks ??

It just looks to me like all of these sites are repeating what the others are saying without actually seeing the source material (if it even exists) that the rumor is based on.

They probably based it on this thread:cool:

If Apple needed a reason to release MBP immediately, this thread says it all.

The number of replies has surpassed the 'I just ordered/ bought' thread that was created almost 4 years earlier and the number of views is rather impressive at over 1,000,000.

Come on, release the goddamn kracken!

i think pretty much it would nee dsomething insane for me to think not to buy a used 2012 rmbp. right now the price difference is something like 1,000

actually i joked about it before but it would really make sense for apple to keep the 2012 rmbp around to replace the cmbp

4K display would destroy the battery life... so I'm gonna hope they don't have 4k resolution.
Retina display is fine... IGZO panel is what I want

Guys...think about it. The article states a 4K display, TB2, and improved battery life. How would Apple make a 4K display with better battery life.......Oh wait IGZO.

Just sayin, it's possible.

:apple:

I'm not sure what to expect in the display area, but I have a few thoughts.

First, right now Apple can say they have the highest res laptop on the market, but that's changing soon whenever the ATIV book comes out, and likely others to follow. If Apple wants to keep that title, they'd practically have to go 4K on the rMBP.

However, the retinas haven't been out all that long, and a 4k display would be much more expensive, so I wouldn't think it likely that they would go for that.

Without major updates to OS X UI scaling (which clearly aren't coming this year since Mavericks is already widely in use) a 4K display (let's say 2x 1920x1200) would produce an unreasonably small user interface on a 15" display. The only way this is going to happen without major software changes to UI scaling is in a 17" model, where 1920x1200 was already the standard resolution.

I think it's pretty obvious that the article misunderstood the new 4k apple cinema display (that will be presented with mac pro) with the internal monitor of rMBP.
C-mon just look at the quality of this crappy article

Less than 15 hours till we find out if a new rMBP will be out tomorrow!

Ain't gonna happen, people. Better kiss that dream goodbye.

September was a made-up release month - why is anyone believing something will happen tomorrow?

Hey! I Google my ass off sifting the innerwebs for this stuff! :D Here's another from:
http://au.ibtimes.com/articles/509702/20130928/macbook-pro-2013-haswell-release-date-specs.htm#.Ukn4PZEyH1o

Just like the new iMacs, the low end MacBook Pro will boot an Iris Pro GPU. The high end Apple laptop will pack a more powerful NVIDIA GeForce 700.

Also, it is very likely that the consumers may able to purchase a laptop with 1TB storage

And here we have a repeat rumor coming from a 2nd source. Therefore, it must be true: :)

Last week, alleged benchmarks of MacBook Pro 2013 surfaced. Based on the document, MacBook Pro will pack the new Intel Haswell processor, Thunderbolt 2 GPU, 4K screen resolution, OS X Mavericks and longer battery life.

Ignore the comments at the end of the article threatening bodily harm to the author!

Very highly doubt 4K will be in this new release for the rMBP, especially since the price would undoubtedly go up and this would take more battery life from the Haswell-power-saving processor.

http://news.softpedia.com/news/Shar...-4K-Panels-for-15-6-Inch-Laptops-387022.shtml

4K (3840x2160) IGZO will be coming out next year. Currently they offer 3200x1800 (just short of 4k?) IGZO panels. So could see 3200x1800 IGZO this refresh if they increase resolution at all. Seems logical that they'd wait till the 4K IGZO next year though but who knows

I would certainly hope that the eventual IGZO switch doesn't involve a move to 16:9 on Apple's machines. It's a terrible ratio for most actual work, which requires vertical space instead of horizontal. So far I've only seen IGZO panels discussed in the 16:9 ratio, but I would like to hope that Apple has the buying power to insist on 16:10 screens.

Evidence that this is the same rumour being mindlessly recycled is the recurring jumbled syntax of "Thunderbolt 2 GPU, 4K screen resolution."

If there's any truth behind that confusing clump of words, it's that the Haswell MBP will sport TB2 ports capable of driving 4K displays. Which is a reasonable expectation, I suppose...
