I might just get the MBA and be done with it. They only reason I wanted the rMBP is for the retina screen but since I'm not used to having it, I guess I won't miss it.

Or you could wait patiently for a few weeks. Unless you absolutely need a new laptop for work.

That' just it - hopefully. If it were for sure, I'd wait but they may not release for a month or more. I don't know why Apple is so secretive about their releases...especially for a minor bump in specs.

Wouldn't it be crazy if nothing at all happend today. No. refresh of anything. Not that I want it, I promise you that I'm longing for that sweet rMBP too, but just because. After September the optimists said 15th, and after iMac it was the coming weeks and now it's in about 30 minutes.

A silent refresh would be sweet but I have stopped hoping lately...

I still don't know why we expected anything to happen today. Just as we said WWDC, then during Back 2 School, then week after BTS, then sometime in September, now October 1st? We're just making things up and hoping it becomes true.

The only thing special about today is it's Independence Day for my country.

:)

Bought a new battery for my MBP today. I'm ready for another few years until these Haswell machines come out :D

See? No update. Like I said, Apple could have released it last week but they didn't. It's not ready yet. But only about 15 days more to go until the event so we don't have too much to wait. :)

Even if we wait 2 weeks, how can we say it'll be released then. Apple has neither promised nor hinted at rMBP release this year. We're just hoping and wishing this gets released and picking arbitrary dates to support our delusions.

well if we hear nothing at the next apple event im getting a MBA it has a better screen then the macbook pro classic at least. cost more though because of SSD

APR in the Netherlands is now offering free giftcards for teachers and students. This offer is different from Apple's BTS promotion. The promotion is for Mac and iPad, except for the iPad Mini and the Mac Mini (don't ask me why). The offer is valid till October 19th.. http://www.a-mac.nl/blog/ipad-mac-studie

Guys wait wait, don't give up,

Maybe there will be a silent update this afternoon? Or tomorrow morning ?

^just kidding haha

I guess I got excited as well for the "silent release" today, seeing all these posts. I shouldn't have. It's normal that everybody keeps making up possible release dates, but like other people said, nothing is confirmed, neither are there hints that it should be released anytime soon.

I'm just going to wait, there is no hurry at all for me personally. It's just not a nice feeling to get ourselves excited so many times to get disappointing after. What if it only comes out in February? That's gonna be a whole lot of disappointment. Wait patiently for the release (or solid info/leaks about it). That's what I'm going to do (or at least try lol).

I still want it badly though.

.. if there *is* an event. That too is currently still a rumour. So we're two hopes deep here, that they might release the rMBPs at an event which may or may not happen and might or might not be about iPads.

Unless there's something incredibly new in here I'd expect a silent update, probably timed to the availability of mavericks. This is good in a way, I also wouldn't want to have a new machine on ML and then upgrade it a week or two later if I could avoid it. Current Mavericks beta I've had zero issues with so I'm sure as heck ready.

My old MBP is still sitting unused with a broken keyboard and I'm coding on the Air which is just no fun .. it can't come soon enough.

YES. Thank you for interjecting some reason up in here.

For everyone waiting for the 15th, let me point out two items:

1. You realize that the 15th is just another rumor...

2. We will have more information next Tuesday. Apple has never (using their past history) sent out invites to an event without giving the press seven days notice. If they do an event on the 15th they will have to send out press invitations. If next Tuesday rolls around and there are no invitations then I wouldn't hold my breath for the 15th…

We've seen some benchmark results with the new CPU's, and now other manufacturers are releasing theirs, surely something will be coming soon, wont it?

I certainly hope so!!!!!

agree!

and with all my pain hurting me, i'd buy the ivy bridge one....

can't wait so much time for a computer when i need to deal with huge amount of working....

I cant wait to order my new rMBP when I get home :)

I am confused how come macrumors.com hasn't updated new story "Apple updates MacBook Pro with Haskell and increased battery life" yet?

if they have the event on the 22nd (similar to last years event) and there is no mavericks GM till then its cutting things close for the final version. Im guessing a mavericks release on the 23rd or 30th - previous releases have been on Wednesdays. so something has to happen on the 15th for new macbooks and GM version of Mavericks in order to make those 22nd or 30th dates. we will wait and see i guess.

That's what I've been saying since August but everyone kept on telling me Apple didn't care and would release it when it's ready.

I don't think we'll have a silent update on this MBP otherwise it would have been released last week alongside the iMac.
They'll use those next weeks to get enough stock.

There _has_ to be another event.
Tim promised us a fall full of goodness.
Two new iPhones and a silently released stunning Mac Pro isn't a fall of goodness.
