That's what I've been saying since August but everyone kept on telling me Apple didn't care and would release it when it's ready.

I don't think we'll have a silent update on this MBP otherwise it would have been released last week alongside the iMac.
They'll use those next weeks to get enough stock.

You've been seeing a lot of hopeful rationalization. I think I can say that now without seriously annoying anyone.

I think after the September event passed (and this was unlikely to begin with) it was pretty much clear that the rMBP would refresh with Mavericks. The machines will come with Mavericks installed because the optimizations there are tightly linked to Haswell's low-load power efficiency. Apple can use the combination of the two for claims of significant battery life improvements.

They'll also be able to show the machine not lagging on things like web page scrolling, another Mavericks improvement (more GPU acceleration of desktop rendering tasks).

Stop complaining.
Another event this fall is 100% sure. Go to apple.com and you find maverick and mac pro "coming this fall'. Is here someone who think they will just do a silent update for the new mac pro?
Then fall ends december 21th but close to christmas it's impossible they introduce a new product. Look at history guys: 90% of probabilities are for the event to be held in october, 10% in the first two weeks of november.
Obviously rMBP may be delayed to 2014 but:
- another apple event in 2013 is CERTAIN
- for sure at the event we will know if rMBP will be presented or, in case of no show, we will be sure it will be delayed.
But, and this is the point I want to stress, everybody waiting for rMBP must understand that in one month he will have a definite answer on haswell.

makes sense to me. although I need mine by Christmas.. going to see the inlaws, that mbp would be the only thing tying me to sanity. **shudders at the thought of inlaws**

Pro event?

Knowing Apple, I wouldn't be surprised if they want to do much more than just a release of the Mac Pro. They want to do that in style. So I expect a Pro event that introduces a new Pro line. It's just a guess, but a launch of new rMBPs with 4K over TB2 would fit really, really nicely into a launch of the Mac Pro (with 4K over TB2) and a 4K screen. I don't expect the rMBPs to have 4K resolution themselves, though. But possibly, there could be some software at the event to set the context. Is a FCPX update coming up? I'm not following that piece of software.

It would be logical if the cMBP would be killed at that point, too. That leaves two clean and distinct lines: Pro (rMBP and Mac Pro) vs consumer (MBA, Mac Mini, iMac). I don't see any future for the cMBP in the direction Apple is going in. The only "advantage" it has is upgradeability, which is not an advantage for Apple. The rMBP has nicer specs and a thinner body, so it's the logical successor in the evolution that Apple is exhibiting.

What do you think?

I honestly think it's absurd to suggest there won't be an event or that we won't see the Haswell rMBP until next year. We know both are coming in October.

kinda wish the event was next week though similar pattern to the iphone event.. early in the month announcement with products released at end of the month. probably 0% chance the event is next week.. 50% the following week.

Seems like oct 15th, in other words the 8th(invitation day) is the last waiting day for me, and I assume it will be same for many if not for the most. Then I'll make a decision no matter what the rumors will be.

Because if Apple got a device which is in the final step to be released, then they would release it before the holiday season. October is the best and the last month for that. Later will be too late and I don't expect them they would do an unwise job to release anything in november.

That is again my opinion and I can easily be wrong though.

Do you guys think Apple will be able to have an event of both iPad releases, as well as Mavericks/Mac Pro/rMBP? Makes me wonder if there won't be 2 separate events

Man... a Pro event from Apple... That would be awesome.

It's advisable for people to wait until the invitations to the event be sent.

Remind when it was the september event, everyon'e's know cleared that these event was for iphone coloured.

So it'll be same for the next one. Must wait for the invitation card.

One thing i've got pretty sure is if this next 15th event is not released rMBP, it won't be released anymore.

That's why i said before i'd buy the current model

Well well well.

1. Everyone proclaiming an Oct. 1 silent refresh was plain wrong.
2. In their defense, this does not mean that the Haswell rMBP will be any more of an update than the Haswell iMacs were, even if they're first announced at the event this month.

We can only hope. :D

the longer this takes, the less I think this will be just a minor silent update
im thinking something major like body redesign

I can't wait any longer!! Have really important work to do and sold my rMBP about 3 months ago as I didn't think it would take we that fast to sell it!! If I buy a 13 MBA how many days do I have to return it?? Is it 14 or 30 in the UK?? I know it's wrong but needs must and apple have kept us waiting!

In that case Apple lost me as a MBP customer.

that may very well be true for you and a "few" others similarly situated but I'm pretty sure the vast majority of us (me also) are going to suffer through the wait because THIS is what we WANT!

So, honestly now people, do you think we are going to se the new rmbp this year, without any hope involed?

Im starting to doubt it.

Why do you doubt it? Let's start with the fact that it'd be absolutely ridiculous for Apple to not release it. They aren't dumb. This thing is not being pushed into February.

I agree with you sir, I think its dumb of apple not to release it. However it feels like we havent heard anything about it, no clue, no evidence, just speculations.

Maybe im just so sick and tired of waiting, im just mad.

Well the Macs certainly don't need rumors or leaks. iOS devices get all the attention. I'm going to be relieved when it comes out in the next 2 or so weeks.

Why couldn't it be the 22nd or 29th? The 15th is still just a rumor and there are other dates that fit into your criteria.....

I would find it pretty amusing for a bunch of people to give up and buy something on the 9th only to have the invitations to the event come out a week or two later.

Last year Apple announced updated an updated Mac Mini, iMac, 13" rMBP, iPad 4, and iPad mini all at one event.

I could see Mac Pro, rMBPs, and two new iPads all together this year.
