The screen is what loses a lot of people.

That same screen is what keeps the battery life high... it won't matter if Haswell comes out and an IGZO display comes with it if it means more pixels that the current displays. Potential significant increases to battery life would be far reduced if that were the case, not to mention the additional processing power to push those pixels, which trades off with some of the benefits of a new card or faster cpu.

Another one out of the line :D

Was in Glasgow today so popped into the Apple store to compare the 13" rMBP with my 13" MBA. Even if they trim a little off the new rMBP its still quite "fat" when sat next to the MBA. It's also a little smaller, but not by much. Had the two sat side by side and whilst the screen is clearly better on the rMBP the MBA screen isn't as bad as some would have you think. Anyway, decided I'd be better served with another MBA and would have just gone with the 8GB/512GB option, but they don't sell that in-store so had to go with the processor bump too to i7 :D And didn't seem much point leaving with a wifi ac laptop and not a ac router, so added a new Airport Extreme to the bag.

New MBA restored from Time Machine and in the process of recreating a slightly bigger (now I have twice the space!) bootcamp partition, but feels much faster than my 2010 model. Once mine is all set-up with restore the old one with a time machine back of my girlfriends 2007 MBA and she'll be a happy bunny too.

Hopefully still a little in the old 2007 MBA (which as a Runcore 128GB SSD) when I stick it on eBay...

Thanks for the entertaining thread, and hope the wait isn't too much longer and delivers for you all

:apple:

I want everyone here to pause for a moment. Just take a moment's pause, take a deep breath - now, just think that we check in a few more hours and the haswell's have been released. Just indulge in the possibility. Let your mind wander.

Felt good right?

Gnite.

Ooooh, I'm gonna miss you guys.

But then we'll meet on the new Haswell Macbookpro bugs thread, right?:p

The 15'' is thinner than the 13''.

I think I'm holding my breath for the 15th more than the 8th. Its a bummer for some of the people around here who had to pull the trigger one way or another today.

I'm reverting back to my previous prediction of October 22-24. I don't understand how HP could have enough supplies of Haswell chips but Apple doesn't. Perhaps they're using different mobile haswell chips, I haven't checked yet. There could be something else holding the new rmbps up......

Well, this new HP laptop uses the Intel 4200U processor. Perhaps Iris and Iris Pro are holding the new rmbps back, as this processor only comes with Intel HD graphics 4400.

They released iMacs last week, released the new iPhone and will release Mac Pro. That's it!
No MBP this year.
New MBPs coming out February 2014.

I'm sure they'll be out this year. Mavericks won't take that long to be ready. They have the updates out in time for the holidays for sure.

Here's HP's Elitbook Lineup (Note that some still use Ivy-Bridge processors, while the others use Intel 4200U and 4300U processors).

I'll take that over the Air screen any day of the week.

It could be the 15th or the 22nd, I don't really care. I just want it to come out so I can buy it.

Its clearly that Apple change the marketing for the right reasons. We no longer have a March event for iPad , a summer for iphone and fall for mac. They put iPhone in sept event and the ipads with mac. So they left the spring empty for a new product, like Tim said, we should expect nice devices this fall and early 2014. So from 2014 i think there will be a iwatch event and itv or whatever new product will be

It will probably come out when mavericks is released. No reason to make a custom build of 10.8 when they can just release it with 10.9 in a couple weeks.
