They released iMacs last week, released the new iPhone and will release Mac Pro. That's it!
No MBP this year.
New MBPs coming out February 2014.

I agree with this. With the packed schedule remaining for the rest of the year, it's looking more like next February will be it.

And the logic behind that is what exactly? I doubt Apple cares about the scheduled being packed. Tim Cook said so himself.

"Behold: the new MacBook Pro Retina Vintage--aged for over 365 days in a genuine Islay oak cask, for the smoothest mobile computing experience yet!"

Its clearly that Apple change the marketing for the right reasons. We no longer have a March event for iPad , a summer for iphone and fall for mac. They put iPhone in sept event and the ipads with mac. So they left the spring empty for a new product, like Tim said, we should expect nice devices this fall and early 2014. So from 2014 i think there will be a iwatch event and itv or whatever new product will be

Sounds about right. It's highly doubtful at this point that Apple will silent release the Haswell rMBP's. The next event will be iPads and Macs with Mavericks, Haswell rMBP's, possibly an announcement about the Mac Pro, and possibly a new ACD. But of course, this is just a guess. No proof :(

I couldn't wait any longer so I bought a 2013 Macbook Air, refurb, on Apple.com

I have a 14 day return window so if something AMAZING happens on Oct 15th I'll run to the Apple store to return my Macbook Air and get that amazing thing. Whatever it is.

Wise choice. Enjoy your laptop - I'm already on month 8 of my wait....8!
I wish I knew what the status is - hey, if it gets released next year, just let us know.

The amazing thing will be a patinaMBP.

Does apple charge a restocking fee for returns? I'm tempted to buy but feel that if I do, I'll know it's just a temporary solution. I would either just hang on to it - barely using it because I know I do not want to transfer my files only to have to repeat the process the next week.

Ok so Im seriously thinking about getting the 15" rmbp basemodell now, I cant wait any longer, do you know if mavericks solve the lagg issues?

you'all so young and apple newbies or rookies to remember the black macbook pro......what a pity....

you'all see man! last who laughs, laughs better

Yeah, no restocking fee or anything. You have 14 days to use it and return it.

I will get a MBA if they don't release it on October. Might even go the Linux laptop way if they piss me off too much.

Thanks. What's funny is the ship time for the unit I want is 3-5 days and I'm out of town during the week. If I order today, I may not get it until Monday - ugh...damn you apple and your secret release plan.

We both know u won't do that. :p

If the Haswell rMBP gets released at an event on October 15, is it the norm for them to do the "and it's available to buy today" thing?

If they announce the new rMBP on October 15 that is great, but if it can't be bought straight away, I'm in a bit of a dilemma because I might be leaving my country on the 21st, and I need a new laptop before I go!

And the BTO MacBook Pros are now at 2-4 days in the UK store, having been 3-5 earlier down from 4-6. It's going the wrong way :(

You can always order online the day of, but it might not be in Apple stores until the next day or two.

It's very likely that Apple is skipping Haswell and waiting for Broadwell instead due to better iGPU performance. Thunderbolt 2 is also delaying everything.

That's a ridiculous claim to make. Everyone knows Apple wouldn't skip Haswell, especially on a machine as important as the rMBP.

Why couldn't it be the 22nd or 29th? The 15th is still just a rumor and there are other dates that fit into your criteria.....

I would find it pretty amusing for a bunch of people to give up and buy something on the 9th only to have the invitations to the event come out a week or two later.

Just to clarify, 15th is just my reference date, for the keynote as the rumors are pointing that out. What I meant was, I don't expect anything after the keynote, 15th, 22nd or 29th are all same for me. I do expect a keynote but if the rMBP is not there then I'm done for waiting.

So, honestly now people, do you think we are going to se the new rmbp this year, without any hope involed?

Im starting to doubt it.

A bunch of you guys and gals got your hopes up about a silent refresh today due to the ramblings of that mischievous mcarling dude and the silent iMac refresh. Now it doesn't happen and you've lost hope. Come on. You gotta be stronger than that!

Nothing has changed. reset your expectations to what they were 10 days ago and you'll be fine.

Now, back to work, study, play, spying, stealing... whatever you all do.

I know they have released laptops on the same day of announcement in the past. Anything goes with Apple though ;)
