Damn dude. I knew Europe was higher, but holy...
Granted, you've got everything covered 100%
Better system, wouldn't work here though.
Moving on

I wonder what the refurb store is gonna look like after the Haswell release.
Thank you for replies.
Well at least we are sure: either Oct 15th or Oct 22th we will have the keynote. If we are lucky, next tuesday invitations will be sent.
I hope we all agree on that

Oh and this thread will arrive to 10.000 post / 400 pages today!!!
I wonder what will come first; Haswell rMBP or my student loan. Hopefully my student loan, I want to buy my new baby ASAP.

What if it's the 29th? It seems that everyone has overlooked that date.
I think it's because it is a date that just doesn't make sense. Mavericks just got GM. We know Apple will want to release Mavericks and the Haswell rMBP together. And iPad event definitely wouldn't be that late.

The main reasons for the difference are the rapacious taxes in Europe and the much heavier regulatory burden in Europe. A smaller factor is that Apple need to charge a little bit extra to protect themselves against fluctuations in the currency exchange rate.At this moment in the Netherlands, the high end rMBP 2.7GHz, 16GB, 512SSD, costs 2830 euro = $3854. At least that's what Google says.
Now I'm starting to see how great a deal it was for some guys buying this model for $2000. Wow..
edit: I find it insane that the same product costs $2799 in the US store. That's more than a thousand dollars difference, for the same product, in a different country... fml
Five US states have no sales tax: Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, and Oregon.Remember that the US store show tax exclusive prices.

feel like explaining? !
Does that mean no sales tax on anything in those five states? What about for internet purchases?
Apple are now offering a 1TB SSD option for the iMac, so I expect it will be an option for the Haswell MBP as well -- at least for the 15" MBP.1TB will be awesome - but I'm trying to keep my expectations low.
I think there is a good chance that Apple might offer a 16GB DRAM option for the 13" Haswell MBP. That's the only advance I expect to see in memory capacity for the Haswell MBPs -- unless a 17" model might be introduced. I'm confident that the base DRAM for both the 13" and 15" models will remain 8GB and I'm confident that neither the 13" nor 15" Haswell models will get a 32GB option. If I were Apple, I would introduce a 17" Haswell MBP in February with 16GB base and 32GB optional, plus two PCIe SSD slots and three Thunderbolt 2, four USB 3.0 (or 3.1) ports, a powerful discrete GPU, and a 4K Retina display optimized for 1920x1200.Is anyone here expecting a 16GB RAM option in the 13-inch?
I don't know that Apple would want to release Mavericks and the Haswell rMBP together. I don't believe that Apple care one way or another. We've seen cases in the past where Apple have released new Macs a few weeks before an OS X release and we've seen cases where Apple have released new Macs a few weeks after an OS X release. I cannot remember a simultaneous release. We know Apple will want to release Mavericks and the Haswell rMBP together.
I really doubt it but who knows? Apple needs to keep the two MBP models as far apart from one another as possible. Especially, if there's no dGPU in the 15".![]()
Hey people I have just read this news
http://appleinsider.com/articles/13...expects-big-things-from-apples-fifth-gen-ipad
What does it mean? Maybe Won't we see any Mac?!?!? How is that possible? I mean everyone want an iPad...No one buy anymore Macbook Pro?
Very pleased with my recent purchase already 2013/rMBP/2.7Ghz i7/16GB/512SSD and as a traveling photographer / cinematographer I am going to push this computer to it's limits. So far the screen resolution and overall weight is amazing. The first program I downloaded was Geekbench 3 and ran a 32bit test scoring 3098 on a single core and 11980 on the multicore. A BIG leap from my Mid-2011 27" iMac/2.7Ghz i5/24GB/1TB which single core scored was 2650 multi core score highest ever 6990.
I imagine the 2013 Haswell comparative model for my laptop will break 12,000 and hover just below 13,000. Would it be worth $3,100+ vs the $2,200 I paid. Only time will tell, the likelihood of a screen upgrade is looking very slim if not outright doubtful as the IGZO may not be ready until Early 2014 indicated by many sources.
In your case, the only reason to upgrade to Haswell would be for the battery life. Performance isn't going to be a big jump.
I need one. Desperately.
Did you hear about the special Steve Jobs edition? Black unibody aluminum.
Exactly, a minor performance boost + battery life doesn't quite justify the $900 difference to me. The update is more of a lateral move at best in the right direction might I add! I am extremely excited for next year, we may see the introduction of 3K and 4K mobile screens and as a cinematographer that is beautiful!
I could have bought the current rMBP months ago, but I decided not to because for me the Haswell rMBP is that big of a jump. Sounds like you were able to get a deal you were happy with, though. For me, no amount of savings could convince me to buy the Ivy Bridge rMBP.
