It's annoying that next year's crop stands a chance of being so much awesomer than this year's. But it is what it is...

yeah its sad that we will be buying before the izgo + decent igpu + possible ddr4? (but there is always something new coming)

the way i see it is that oct 2013 will be fantastic as its so much better than 2012 (ac wifi, tb2, hdmi2.0, pcie ssd, increased battery, cheaper) and the teething issues from the first gen rmbp will have been fully fixed (heat / fan scraping / image retention)

my next upgrade will be the border-less (thus smaller size overall) 15" of 2016

IGZO and Broadwell sounds awesome and all, but I am so focused on the improvements we are getting in the Haswell rMBP. So it's hard to even think about next year right now.

I have to correct you there it's not HDMI 2.0, if a refresh of the HDMI port occurred, it would be HDMI 1.4. And, DDR4 will take a couple of years to drop to more acceptable prices and no one knows whether Apple would adopt DDR4 at that point in time. I think the fan thing was a software issue, and has been fixed since then. I still believe IR issues were and are still being blown out of proportion by many member of this forum. Every display supplier has their problems, and perhaps they are a bit magnified when yields were as low as they were for much of last-year. Heat for the 15-inch probably will be reduced as a result of the very likely removal of the dgpu, and I don't think there was a heat problem for the 13-inch. I personally think the borders help the design aesthetic, but that's just my opinion, which may not be supported by the general public, and as they say, the needs/wants of the many supercede the needs/wants of the few.

+1 for the rMBP is that the cooling is way better than on past Pro models and also the MBA.

Exactly my thought process. I'm glad I never purchased the first-gen rMBP. The Haswell rMBP is a big step up when you consider all of that.

After I finally get the Haswell rMBP....guess I will be on the "Waiting for Skylake MBP" Mega thread in 2015/2016 :D

Maybe me too. I am definitely very interested in the Broadwell MBP and want it, but I will be abroad next year and fear having to pay ridiculous prices on a Mac that us US buyers just aren't accustomed to.

I've never owned a MacBook Pro or Air, so I didn't have any points of reference. I just heard about some issues some people had, and it was probably more if an inconvenience than anything. I guess the Haswell rmbp is more a refinement of a great product than a significant change.

That's exactly what it is. For some it's not a big deal, but it's why many of us want it so bad.

Amazon out of stock again

just a note. Amazon is running low on stock for both models of the rMBP. It happened 2 weeks ago before the iMac was updated. It's probably nothing. Just thought i would mention it

Im going back and forth for almost 6mths now and as it currently stands... no IGZO, no buy from me :( I would also love the 16GB option for the '13.

Denmark: 25% VAT.

+ I currently pay the top rate tax at 70% of all my income.

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Edit:

And I would actually save $220 by flying to the US, buy the Mac and return to Denmark.

But: a) I don't want to spend 8 hours in plane (and 8 hours back home) and b) Feel comfy having a Danish keyboard (well.. my first PowerBook actually had a US keyboard). I don't ever look on the keys, but the US layout has less keys than the Danish layout, so it get's a little weird typing on it when I miss some keys :) + the resale value here in DK is higher with.. a Danish keyboard :D

If you pay the top rate over your income it means you earn a lot, so stop complaining :p

I think we should all take a moment and remember Steven Paul Jobs, the man who (although some disagree) revolutionized the technology industry multiple times for the better. He died two years ago today, on October 5, 2011.

It seems if Apple doesn't release these soon, we could have an international riot on our hands :D C'mon Apple!

Haha, indeed! :D

The Leafs Fan: You're correct. I didn't mean to say the USA isn't (sorry if it came across that way), but more just fighting the notion that "high taxes = despair and general horribleness"... :)

In case you haven't noticed just yet, I'm from Canada. And Canadians don't really like Americans all that much:D.

I amaze myself about how eager I am to get a Haswell rMBP. How much I salivate for it. Funny thing is, I will use it for web surfing, some Aperture and some Netflix. I lust for one of these and yet I could use my 2012 MBA for the next 5 years for what I do. Must be something in that cool aid. I never wanted a Windows machine this bad (the years before I switched anyway).
Weirdness.
