I think there will definitely be a 16GB RAM option next year. Perhaps even this year with Haswell. And by next year, there will probably be IGZO and quad-core.

That said, how are you going to live with the 4th-gen iPad? ;)

I remember when it came out last year, I already knew the 5th-gen would be much lighter/thinner like the Mini is. The one out now is outdated in terms of design, IMO.

Yeah, most likely there will be a 16 GB RAM option next year, but I didn't want someone to say "How can you be so sure?" When I got the 4th-Gen iPad last year, it was my first introduction into the Apple ecosystem. I had ever owned an Apple product before, (not counting my 2nd Gen iPod touch my cousin gave me after he bought the iPhone 4 unlocked, which he later lost) and I didn't really want to wait another year to buy one. As well, I had already decided on buying an iPad when the Mini came out, and it was too late to change my mind by then. It does it's job well, but it's not hard to see it's limitations. Also, my mother will get a new computer, as her current computer has slowed down so much that she refuses to use it. :D I'll just use her new laptop to last me over the next year.

Oh, it's a perfectly fine iPad. I wasn't questioning that. I'm not even sure if I want an iPad, I'm debating if I want to get one. I guess I will wait for the event, but I am very intrigued by what the iPad 5 is going to be like. And who knows if an iPad Mini with Retina Display will make an appearance.

You will be glad when the day comes that you can buy Apple products on your own like the rest of us!

When I buy the new 15" RMBP, would it be benificial to get the new airport extreme to?

Do you have any experience with it? Does it work as good with stationairy and laptop PC's to?

The coolest rumour I've heard about the iPad 5 is that the Apple logo will glow like on the MacBook Air and Pro. By the time I'll be able to purchase Apple products on my own, we'll be looking at leaks of the iPhone 8. :D

1. Brazil
2. 5.727,28
3. Nope it takes a month or 2 for the new models to appear

thats so cheap

I was waiting for Brazil to chime in. That's ****** outrageous. Mr MM, I didn't know you were from the beautiful country of Brazil, but it surely wouldn't cost you $3,000 to hop on a plane and come visit me in Los Angeles and buy your computer here. And to top it off you can have your MBP over the weekend instead of waiting months

Or buy it in Canada, where it's actually slightly cheaper.

And I thought the NZ price of $4,199 was ridiculous. The prices in Brazil are absolutely crazy. I guess not many people own Macs there then.

And we Canadians laugh at how fat Americans are:D

Just kidding Mr. McDonalds, I have an Aunt in Connecticut.

Not me brother. 400 sit-ups a day and I would never be caught dead in a Mcdonalds. Yech.

BTW, I call you Maple man cause you're a leafs fan. No offense intended.

Since september is gone (my original prediction was end of sept), it is pretty much guaranteed now that these will release alongside Mavericks. So end of this month fellas.

I'm hoping for the same model :). It just seems silly to go from my current 500gb drive (or even the old 160gb drive) to 128gb. The upgrade to 512gb is more than I'm willing to spend, so 256gb it is. Definitely don't need more that 8gb ram and i5 for my uses.

SSD all the way. 256 definitely sounds like the sweet spot for you.

Not necessarily the end of the month. We are pretty much looking at the 15th or 22nd.

It would be cool to have a poll or for people to just list what model they want and the specs they hope for.

I'll be buying the off the shelf high-end 15" option the first day they are available. I might even buy it at the Grand Central store. I wasn't planning on buying one but after a significant raise at work I have a little bit of "fun money". In truth I need one for all the the 3d modeling, Autocad, and Adobe suite I've been doing and my 2 year old air can't cut it anymore. I really hope they do include a dGPU.

I'm going to be visiting the Grand Central Store for the first time in November! 3D modeling and graphic design is very intensive and demanding, a dGPU would help that tremendously. I'm trying to get more into Adobe CS6 and the new versions of Lightroom, Photoshop, AE and Premiere.

That machine does not feel solid, it feels like it has way too much flex if you try to hold it by the "blade" edges. To get thinner these things are going to need a stronger internal framework not made out of aluminum to provide some resistance to bending.

Respectfully disagree, Walrus. My GF's 2013 MBA feels much sturdier and less flexible than my 2010 MBP17 did.

None of these are designed to be thrown around or rag-dolled, granted, but I think you'd have to be pretty careless or rough on one to inflict serious damage to that case.

I live in Peru for several months of the year. Over there it is $3600. It takes two plus months to get to the "Premium Resellers"; there are no Apple Stores only a few iStores.

Man, grand central would be an excuse to wait until Christmas when I'm in Baltimore and take the train up! The Kansas City stores are so unoriginal :(. On the plus side though they'll probably have plenty of stock after the launch.

I went to the Grand Central store the very week it opened. And I've been there a few times since. The station/terminal and Apple are a perfect mix. I remember when I first went there, I didn't expect it to be out in the open like it is. You just walk up the stairs, and there you are. No real entrance or anything. And you overlook the main lobby.

I love all Apple stores, and how Apple can incorporate such designs. But yeah, the Grand Central store is the best I've been in.

The glass cube store on 5th Avenue is nice, but once inside it's really just your typical Apple store. And severely overcrowded. So the only thing it has IMO is the exterior design. But due to the layout, the Grand Central store never gets unbearably crowded in the times I've been in there.

True that. I was there in 2007 and was impressed at the time (I was 15, hehe), but it's pretty unremarkable aside from the entrance.

Mall of America is nothing special either. It's just like every other mall Apple Store other than it's crowded all the time.

Mon dieu! Almost $6,000 USD? I live in Chicago, IL, but I'm originally from Nigeria and have family in South Africa, UK, and Italy. It's always cheapest to purchase from the US and send it to them - either when someone comes to visit or if I send it air freight from Chicago.

Yeah, that's what I mean. There has to be something special to it with the architecture of the building or whatever, otherwise it's just your regular small-town Apple store. There are a few other Apple stores like that, but not many. Usually found in big cities like London or Madrid.

Man, I love the Grand Central store.

The store itself is lovely, but DON'T go to the genius bar to get something repaired. Go to a smaller store if you can. I tried to get an iPad power cable replaced only 8 months after I had bought it (1 year warranty). Nope, they considered the light fraying of the cord customer caused damage, but the worst part was how they tried to convince me I was yanking it out and bending it instead of pulling it out correctly. Just plain wrong, and didn't seem to matter tons of people on the internet have the same problem with the same cable. Their cold, nothing-I-can-do-about-it attitude was terrible, unsympathetic, and dismissive, a bad way to treat a long-term customer with lots of their products. Very different from the service I have been used to at Apple stores. Maybe it's just such a high traffic store with lots of tourists that their care falls short, I don't know.

Long story short, I went to the New Haven store a couple days later, and was in and out in 10 minutes after having a friendly chat with the employees and left with a smile on my face and a new cord.
