Let me put an end to this undying discussion. The top journalism school in the nation which my girlfriend attends is ASU Walter Cronkite School of Mass Communication and Journalism. They are using Adobe Premiere CS6 this semester (it is required for every student). They are also using high end cameras and audio devices. She has a 2011 MBP 15" with 2.0GHZ i7 processor and upgraded 8GBs of RAM.

To edit and render a video clip lasting longer than 10-15 minutes literally pushes her laptop to it's limits. It is clean, well maintenanced, has all of the programs installed correctly through her school. in 2011 that was one of the top of the line laptops coming in around $2000USD. I think some college students are justified in their purchase of a high end MBP. Especially since it is an investment that is supposed to last you through your college career 3-8 years. I've heard enough of people saying that you don't need it to write essays. Some students actually need it to design, edit, post process and create. English major vs Computer/Science/Film major.

Your constant bolding really helps.

Have we given up on the 15th?

Yes.

Ok, now Fujitsu just announced laptops with IGZO displays shipping this month. 13.3-inch with 2,560 x 1,440 resolution. It's highly suspect now that Apple will not include those panels in its upcoming Haswell refresh.

Yes.

I find it a true lack of contribution when all you do is constantly reinforce your own insecurities by attempting to deconstruct whatever I post. If you are so firm in your beliefs, rather than spread your ignorance for blindlessly wanting the next big thing add to it's relevance by offering real world uses and probabilities. You claim of being a minimalist and all of this about yourself yet you are in need of this new laptop with speculated performance results. Seems contradictory.

The real world uses for these laptops expand further than the minimalists uses and I for one do not knock any viable options like the Dell XPS 15 with IGZO and Haswell I truly believe they really one-up'd Apple by featuring technology that is truly next-gen. I am still hoping there is an announcement this month/year for Haswell.

Wow, hold up. When have I ever knocked anything you said? You went way overboard there.

None of what you just rambled on about in those two paragraphs is true about the opinions I post on here.

Your assumption that I am an elitist and continually dismissing DELL XPS 15 because you need OS X - the fact that you claimed to be a minimalist does not add up to supporting your basis. I was applying real world uses into the justification of purchasing a laptop. Rather than an insubstantial biased view point. I am not going to dig through pages of discussion to unearth this.

Enough of the whiney tit-for-tat -- there's enough of that after every "it didn't show today" crying fest.

Back to waiting for Haswell.

If you say so, man. Leave it be.

I'm now in the market for a new laptop, and I have a couple of questions.

I recently bought my first Mac product... an iPad. I love it, but like many people, I occasionally encounter the "phantom signaling" issue: https://discussions.apple.com/message/12108341#12108341

Do you guys suspect the new Haswells might have this issue, either with their keyboards or their touch screens? I plan to use my laptop for my job, so phantom signaling would be especially disruptive if I'm with a client.

Also, is there any chance that Apple will offer 4K screens as an upgrade for the 13 inch Haswells? That's the size I want most.

Er, what?

1st... Take your ipad back.
2nd... Phantom signalling, Haswell, keyboard, 13" 4k screen... touch screen!?!?

Haha... you're not fooling anybody. You're really 12 years old, aren't you?

Apple makes both products. That's why I was wondering whether the Haswells might also exhibit phantom signaling.

Luckily, most people seen unconcerned, so I'm not going to worry, either. :D

It's usually 14 days - at least here in Canada - during which you can return a new purchase with zero restocking fee. After that it's down to the discretion of the staff member but I wouldn't be too hopefully.

I bought a new iMac on the day they were announced but I still haven't got it yet so I'm hoping the MBP it released before the end of the month so I can make a decision about returning the iMac.

Oh yes, another Canadian guy is a part of the thread. What part of Canada are you from? Do you need the portability of the rmbp? Or do you just like the screen more? Do you want the better specs of the iMac?

With Gruber's hunch for the 22nd, seems like a doable date for Mavericks release along Mac Pro and new MBPs, right? And of course, iPads

This is wrong. It's a "push" transaction vs. a "pull" transaction. If you care about the details, read all about it in the UCC. But long story shorty, with a CC, the burden is on the credit card company, since they've paid and are just seeking to get reimbursement from you. With a debit card, you've already taken the money out of your account and put it in someone else's hands.

But don't let anyone tell you what to do.

If you cared to read what I wrote, you would have noticed that I recognised that credit cards generally offer more security. The statement that debit cards offer no security at all was and still is false.

Are you serious?

That escalated quickly. His posts were all over the place lol, to say nothing of the irony baked into every other sentence.. :D

Please enlighten me on this so called irony in every other sentence you speak of. If you haven't followed the conversation and do not completely understand what we are referencing then I await your entertaining response.
