IGZO would be incredible in the new rMBPs, I still think it is too soon though.

I hope we do get it though. It would be easier to use a higher resolution like 1920x1200.

Speaking about high resolution, how does Windows handle pixel doubling? Anyone know? I guess everyone has a high resolution laptop now since the rMBP but I wonder how Windows actually displays the content. Does it not pixel double at all or what?

Give it up -- contrary to your apparent belief, you are not holding the intellectual high ground here.

As I said before, stop imposing this silly "sez who" crap on the rest of us who want to discuss the original subject matter of this thread -- or put more simply:

If it isn't directly related to Haswell MacBook Pro's, don't post it!

The past few pages have been about a plethora of topics; from credit/debit cards, to competitive options via HP/Dell/Fujuitsu. In all honesty no one has claimed to hold the intellectual high ground. It is a discussion board. To discuss on waiting for the Haswell MBP/details.

I am certainly awaiting it's release and hope that it is imminent since i still have a window to buy one.

BootCamp or virtual machine?

I tried VMWare Fusion with Windows 8 some hours ago. You can either configure VMWare to pixel double (Windows will display in normal size yet blocky) or to provide Windows with the full resolution. In the latter case, Windows 8 (and I think, 7 too) can be set to scale everything to 200%, effectively doing sort of retina for windows. As far as I've seen, this works well out of the box with some programs (even older software such as Virtual Studio 2010), but not so well with others (e.g. Firefox).

I will do more testing when I do have a real retina screen and not just a normal 24" screen set to HiDPI for testing purposes.

You get 14 days at the Apple Store to return it. I work for an Apple Store and we do not go beyond that policy unless it's a special circumstance.

Hey, if you work at an Apple store, do you have any inside info on when we'll get the new rmbps(most likely not, but it's worth a shot)?

Apple store employees never have any inside info. I actually helped an Apple store employee at my job 1-2 months back, and we began chatting about Macs and future Apple products.

It was clear I knew way more than he did.

No I dont. Anyone who works for Apple saying they have information is lying. Apple doesn't let us know anything anymore because information always gets leaked out. So unless you work at corporate ignore all of the "my friend's uncle's sister works for apple" posts. I don't know anything and neither does anyone else claiming they do lol. But I wish I knew... :apple:

Actually they do have a slightly better insight, certain Apple employees my friend being a Senior Associate are responsible for being trained in proficiently using future OS updates, they are also informed of days they are not allowed to request off because of an increase in output/sales/etc. that day. My friend told me it is most likely to be released this year because according to his schedule and the training his coworkers are undergoing there are indications of an imminent release.

it's not much but it's better than nothing. just minor signs of a possible refresh.

BootCamp or virtual machine?

No I meant, in an actual Windows laptop. Going by your bootcamp comment though, I guess it doesn't pixel double out of the box but you can set it that way?

So if you buy the Fujitsu with a 3200x1800, will you be seeing the full 3200x1800 native resolution? That seems wrong. You wouldn't be able to read the text, I don't think.

I'm waiting since the Haswell MBA announcement to buy a Haswell rMBP and really want a new computer now because the slow harddrive of my 2012 mac mini is killing me while i work with lots of photos in Lightroom and i seriously need a portable computer to show my work to clients. Bought 4 different MBA configurations in the meantime but returned all of them because of different issues like uneven hinge or faulty graphics adapter. Also i was fed up with the MBA TN-panel. I don't want to wait any longer so i'm trying to get the current rMBP for a good value. I'm living in Germany and a well known online-store has a sale for a certain rMBP configuration:

Apple MacBook Pro 13,3" Retina 2,5 GHz i5 8 GB RAM 768 GB SSD BTO

It's listed at 2034,- € brand new. Same configuration is 2399,- € at the apple online-store. Do you guys think this is a good deal? I really like to have lots of storage space so i don't have to carry an external hard-drive with me and the 768 GB SSD has always been out of reach with my budget, but this one i could afford. I know i should wait to get the Intel 5000 for my graphics and photo related work but on the other hand the Intel 4000 in my mac mini has always treated me well. What do you think?

No offence, but buying a new computer just one year after you bought your old one is a bit weird. Did you not know that you would need a portable computer last-year? It's only one year into the future, whatever occupation you have couldn't have changed that much over a year. You can always swap out the drive of the mini for an SSD, just saying.

From what I've heard, most Apple store employees usually only get info for new/updated products 12-24 hours before they are released in the store.

There is no evidence, just like there is no evidence that there wont be a refresh.

I was just saying there is just as many reason to think there is going to be a refresh as there is not going to be a refresh.

You can look through all my post, I never for once believed there would be a refresh anytime in June or any part of the Summer. But I can assure you we will see the rMBP along with the MacPro and Mavericks this fall all together. How do I know this? Where is my evidence? There is none, thats the point of this board. It is not my fault people keep throwing numbers against the wall and everyone seems to believe them over and over again :p

We're just like people in India/Russia/Germany/[insert chosen country with bad train connections] waiting for a train that should come today but it's not really sure if and when, so what else is there to do but speculate: When will it come? Why is it late? Is it a train with a working loo? Will there be an minibar on it? Who is responsible? Why is there no information available? What alternative ways are there to get to where need to go?
So it's quite normal I think. Ask the average German comuter...:D
If there's anyone who doesn't like this he/she doesn't have to listen/read this.

who is this guy and whats his source?

also would apple release os x mavericks and not have any new hardware released to run on it?

I think this is the same guy that tweeted a week ago that the release would be the 15th. If he keeps after it, he'll eventually predict the release date.

That's somewhat true. When the original rMBP came out last year we got boxes of them in stores as the announcement was going on but that's as early as I've seen. We weren't allowed to open the boxes until after the announcement so we weren't even 100% what computers were in there. We will get part numbers for Macs in the 12-24 hour range but we never know what they actually are until after they are opened up.

The article says it's iPad centric but Mac Pro and mavericks will be featured too. Don't know why they can't also include the rMBP too though. Probably will.
