If there is no rMBP release on the october 22 event.....
I will flip the ******* out!

Well for me it's pretty clear.

Either they announce this damn notebook either I'll go for MBA the same day of the event.

Apple store employees never have any inside info. I actually helped an Apple store employee at my job 1-2 months back, and we began chatting about Macs and future Apple products.

It was clear I knew way more than he did.

So very very true. The guys working the Genius Bar generally know much more than the employees, but I once had one tell me I should take a look at the new "15 Mac Air. I looked at the table she was referencing then looked back at her like she was from Mars. 9 times out of 10 (And yes I go there that often) I know much more than the employees at the Apple Store, especially regarding future products. And YOU guys know a ton more than I do.

October 22. Confirmed finally. Should put a slight rest to this thread lol

I don't know...it seems kind of strange that the article didn't mention the Macbook Pros at all. It clearly mentioned the Mac Pro and OS X Mavericks, but said nothing of the Macbook Pro. I'm sketching out about how they may be delaying those even further.

It's either that or they silent release them which just seems really odd at this point also.

Well announcing doesn't necessarily mean launching.
Here's what I really fear: no talk on the rMBP during the event but silent release with the launch of Mac Pro and mavericks.

I would guess they'll get a brief mention. There's really not a lot to talk about; Haswell improves battery life like it does on the Air, the 13" gets a better GPU, 15" gets Iris Pro with an option for the 750m (I came around on this one). Faster wifi and SSDs. Mavericks has a lot of features designed to expand on Haswell's battery life improvements so just for that reason I think you have to mention the rMBP.

There's plenty of wild speculation out there, but none of it makes any sense this year (first refresh after major overhaul). IGZO is brand new largely untested technology (and as far as anyone knows there aren't any 16:10 panels out there right now). Broadwell's when we can expect to see actual significant CPU performance gains (30% decrease in power consumption at load means you could put more powerful CPUs in at the same TDP and power consumption).

Then I guess you really didn't want a rMBP in the first place, eh?

My credit card is going to be smoking in a couple weeks.. assuming a new rMBP. I'll be ordering a loaded 15" rMBP and loaded iPad 5 wi-fi with Applecare for both.

That is loaded! I might get an iPad myself, but for sure the new rMBP.

Silence release on the 15th lol.

Now that you said that, everyone in this thread will be going crazy and counting down on the night of the 14th!

If Apple doesn't release the refreshed rMBP, I'm just going with the current gen ones. My computing needs literally cannot wait any longer!

Wow, hold up. When have I ever knocked anything you said? You went way overboard there.

None of what you just rambled on about in those two paragraphs is true about the opinions I post on here.

Exactly. Was this the same guy that did bolding thing a couple of pages back, and I pointed it out? I don't understand how bolding the products you or your girlfriend use helps the reader in any way whatsoever. It just makes him seem like a braggart. He doesn't bold words in his other posts, only when they include a product in them that he owns.

You know, it wouldn't surprise me honestly.. wamm bamm.. MBP/Mac Mini silent release on the 15th, iPad and Mac Pro fanfare on the 22nd, and financials on the 29th. Oh SNAP!

Here's my very unsubstantiated opinion. If there's no word about out MBP on the 22 then it won't be released this year. And with a Feb 2014 release comes IGZO and TB2

Oh, maybe the senior level Apple store employees would know then, because obviously someone should know when, even if it is only a couple of days to a week in advance.

Hey now not all Apple Store employees are like that! I guess I'm the 1 time out of 10 because I'm an Apple Store employee and I would like to think I'm pretty intelligent when it comes to Apple products and technology in general. As far as future products, we all frequent MacRumors because the top dogs in Cupertino don't give us any inside information

Apple Store employees don't get much inside information. We get part numbers in advance but we don't know what exactly they correspond to until we open the boxes.

The Apple store employee I talked to said the big question is whether they will remove the DVD drive from the MBP. I was clearly talking about the Retina MBP.

I can totally see a scenario in which they are both announced at the event, but not available until a week later.
I cannot see any reason why Apple would want to kill MBP sales for a week. Whenever the Haswell MBP will be announced, this month, next month, or in 2014, I expect it will be available within 24 hours of the announcement. Same with the Haswell Mac mini.

Is it normal for Apple to hold an event releasing many new products, 6 days before an earnings call? I thought they don't like releasing new products right before those.
Apple release new hardware products when they have enough to ship. The timing has nothing to do with earnings calls. Software is different.

That's embarrassing haha, didn't happen at my store! We know our stuff ;)

He actually came into my workplace, and I chatted him up. But that was when I knew I knew more than he did.

I would love to work at the Apple store myself, but my nearest one is 20 miles away and my job wouldn't let me take off on the weekends anyway.
