Waiting for Haswell MBP Mega Thread

In the report from All Things Digital they dont mention anything about the MacBook Pros....which Im hoping is an oversight on their part. Enlighten us, where are you seeing the rMBP on for Oct 22nd event? I hope you are right, it would be a shame to wait until Feb 2014 (basing it on refresh history).

Apple insider not mentioning simply doesn't confirm it, doesn't deny it either.
Of the various blogs I read, one of then said that the MacBook could still very easily be updated, may have been Engadget--don't remember. Yes it's just their opinion, but if a large tech blog believes this, I still have hope.

I'm not saying that it's coming out, I'm just saying that all this report says is that mavericks and the Mac Pro are coming out, not mentioning the mbpr doesn't really mean anything.

Literally nothing to suggest that. I mean, there's nothing concrete to suggest any specific release date so feel free to get yourself worked up about whichever option you prefer (incoming silent refresh, release on the 22nd at the event, released with Mavericks on the 29th, delayed until 2015 and will run Core 2 Duo).

My point is that you have to realize that the rMBP refresh is not a big deal to anyone who wasn't already planning to buy an rMBP. This impending Haswell refresh prevents people from buying now, but very few people are going to run out and buy an rMBP because of the improved battery life. Notice that there were no rumors about the iMac refresh either, likely for the same reason: Just not very interesting. There wasn't anything about the Air either, was there? Maybe a leaked part number right before the refresh, but that was it.

Meanwhile all of us are talking about things such as CPU watt voltages, battery life, 2nd-gen and all the problems that should be erased, etc

But yeah, the rMBP really is a minor update if you look at it through another set of eyes.

So Rene Ritchie from iMore, a very reputable source, just posted the following:

Yeah, AllThingsD had it first.

Did we find the troll yet? No? I'm sure he's around here somewhere.

Blah blah, truth hurts right? I am not trolling! Walk into any Mac store and listen to the normal customers wanting to buy a new iMac/MBP/MBA. If they're asked what they want to do with their mac, it's always that what I wrote above.

It gets even better if 'smart' kids bring in their parents wanting them to buy a new MBP for "learning". Yah, sure...

Atleast I can sleep now knowing that I have a date to look forward to, as for now it's just to indulge myself into studying as the time passes by..there might be some light at the end of the tunnel!

I'm sure ASU is the top journalism school which your girlfriend attends. Meanwhile, the top Journalism schools in the nation, which your girlfriend does not attend, are Columbia, Northwestern, and Missouri.

My girlfriend currently attends all three when she's not working as a senior Apple employee.

I don't get it.
Sure the Mac Pro is going to be a lovely work machine for that select few that need it and can part with that sort of cash.
But there is millions of people hanging for the MacBook Pro and no mentions so far.
Are they trying to torture us on purpose?

Short answer, yes. People continue to buy the old model, why stop that with an announcement? The Mac Pro was pre-announced because the rumor at the time was that Apple was discontinuing the line entirely. Leaving that rumor alone would have resulted in a mass exodus from OS X, so Apple decided to show their hand.

As I've mentioned before, the leap of haswell alone wasn't good enough. Apple decided to add more arguments, like IGZO display, thinner body, battery status display, IR interface... I don't know... but my guess is that just putting a haswell cpu into the old MBPs wasn't innovative enough for Apple this year. The current MBP are perfectly fine for the upcoming holiday season. Again, I'm not trolling.

Well there's a difference between being fine for the holiday season and carrying outdated technology.

It's not just an updated processor... there is also the inclusion of 802.11ac WiFi, PCI-E flash storage, and POTENTIALLY Thunderbolt 2.

But who cares? The average consumers who will sweep through apple stores, during their holiday shopping marathon will be happy with any MBP.

Because I couldn't say it better, let me quite a wise forum member again:

Apple can release any time they wish. 98% of the Apple buying public are not going to jump over to Dell because newer chip sets are not available from Apple. Nor do most know anything about chipsets. Go into store, leave with computer. Easy breezy. Heck, how many tech heads here gave in and bought the 2012 version. I'd also bet that the majority of buyers would not even use all of the power in the Ivy bridge systems. The internal chipset will have nearly zero impact on holiday sales for Apple.
That being said. I'm waitingggggggggg...
