I second this. I would literally break my bank to buy an IGZO. Hell i'd even buy it retail price haha, since I already used my buddy's 25% employee discount, it's that good!

BTW, I've been wanting to mention to you, I'm an AD

Come on Apple, stick a fork in it, it's done. The MBP is done. Push it out the door. I want one. I don't care what kind of GPU it has.

Shut up and take my money.

Not sure if you're being serious.

I'm questioning whether or not to go swap it out tomorrow or not.

100% serious depending on how great the Haswell model is I would return my current rMBP. I would never sit on my hands however, there is still work to be done and I opted to buy this in the meantime and dispute returning if I was past my 14 day period and a new one was announced this month.

I don't know what that is, but that sounds scary.

Apple store is down.

Same for me, but at this point I'm no longer super excited the store is down. I'll just find out when it comes back up if anything significant actually changed.

As a side note, does anyone else think the Apple homepage looks weird in the colours for the 5C rather than the white it usually is?

Maintenance again, most likely.

Also, can't believe were at 11,000 posts. I wonder at what post the previous "waiting for x MBP thread" stopped at.

I like the colors

Pertinent question to ask yourself: when was the last time a MBP update was so significant it rendered the previous gen obsolete overnight?

All signs point to this refresh being a modest one at best--say, a 10-13% improvement across the board over the current model. Battery life at low CPU loads will be noticeably improved, while improvements at higher loads will be much less significant. There's nothing here that's going to drastically impact your workflow in a meaningful way.

Don't get me wrong--I'm all over this thing when it gets released because I'm basically crippled working on this old whitebook. But you just got an amazing deal on an awesome computer, and the odds that the Haswell will be THAT much better than the one you have are slim to none.

Not trying to be a wet blanket--just trying to inject a bit of sobriety into this occasionally (frequently?) delusional thread.

Well the thing is I bought it this month. So I am still within the return policy. It would be sorta foolish not to get the new one especially if it is better in almost every single way (even if only incrementally) But it's not absolutely necessary. The only thing I am stoked about is the battery life. That is basically it.

The last one of these I followed was "I'm Waiting for Arrandale", back in 2009.

I believe the entire thread spanned over 1000 pages, and had to be divided into parts to lessen the burden on the servers:

So yeah, we've got a ways to go, folks.

For the record, that revision wound up being "much ado about nothing", which has largely prepared me for a similarly underwhelming refresh this time around. But the computer I wound up with (MBP17) was nonetheless an absolute workhorse which served me well until it was stolen two months ago. Once the hype subsides, life goes back to normal, work gets done... in short, this desire is just a mirage, am i right? ;)

Haha I know. I did it just to create hype. I'm honestly satisfied with the announcement of the 22nd and I can wait. Many people in this thread need to go outside and get some air. Go for a bike ride, a hike, surf sesh or something.

30 days

Here in Sydney the local Apple store manager said that if I were to buy a rMBP then they would swap it out within 30 days at no charge if Apple released an upgraded model during that time.

What was so bad about Penryn that you guys had to post over 1000 pages? ;). Lol. My mid-2009 Penryn did pretty well until fall 2011. It's been downhill since. Darn first gen. Main reason why I can't settle for ivy bridge!

The Apple rep here in the US said the same exact thing, that I'd get an additional 14 days if a laptop was announced to swap it out with no restocking fee.

I can't wait to get the new Retina MacBook Pro! I have been using a PC Windows 8.1 lol.

What do you guys think about a Space Grey MacBook Pro ;), I reckon it would be cool!

See, I also use my computers "in the field", but the stuff I use them for (audio recording/performance) is fairly CPU-intensive. Haswell isn't really geared to improve battery life much in this regard--it's main boost to battery life will be for lighter-load tasks.

By all reports, it's Broadwell that will improve battery life for heavy lifting as well as casual use. But even THAT likely won't give us anywhere near the battery life we would need to feel truly free from AC power, so this whole battery life improvement thing is a bit of red herring for "power users" if you ask me. In reality, we're still a few years away from being able to leave our power supplies at home.

That does take me back. Though I was wondering as to why this thread was allowed to hit +10,000 posts.

Oh my god! No way!

I joined this forum for that thread!!!!

It was going to be my first MacBook!

and now this will be my second

You must have done something truly terrible to want to punish yourself with a Dell. Dell + Windows = match made in hell.

+1. I still can't figure out how people are ready to commit to one OS vs. the other so easily. Makes no sense whatsoever. I'll just patiently wait, I'll have at least another Mac when it finally comes out. Not a Win-Dell. So sad to use a Dell.
