Holding the Mac Mini, Mac Pro and MBP for the 22nd is interesting. Still having my hopes up for a big TB2 intro featuring the Mac Pro, MBP and the Mac Mini all with Mavericks from the get-go. Another hypothesis a silent update of the Mini next week.

Doesn't IGZO still have some issues with viewing angles?

http://www.engadget.com/2013/06/05/sharp-3200-1800-igzo/

Next to the fabrication schedule, that would seem two solid arguments to push that tech further down the line. It just isn't ready for prime time, but perhaps Apple thinks differently.

There is plenty of time for the rmbp update at the Oct event.

2012 Oct event mins.

So can we expect a new rMBP on the 22nd or not?

For me the 22nd October event looks quite stuffed already. It's also strange that the source didn't even mention the rMBP. Also my 3 years "experience" on macrumors indicate me that there won't be a release in October.

Is there any source for "probably no release" in October? This threat is quite biased, we always try to find the positive signs neglecting the obvious.

Nevertheless it's quite frustrating that there is now updated rMBP yet, especially if you see what the competitors are doing over the last weeks.

Everything is pretty much said by now..it's up to you whether you believe if there's a new rMBP coming up or not. As of now, I sure hope there will be a new rMBP judging from the market and time..

No, this is really not a thing.

Somebody a few pages back showed the line up for last October's event, which featured numerous things from both the Mac and iPad lines.

If the rMBPs are ready by or soon after event time, they'll be released, if not, they won't be. The "stuffed-ness" of the event schedule has zero bearing.

And now, i'd like to make just a self-thinkinng sentence.....

Nobody has thinked that it's extremely rare to see two updates on same product in the same year?

Needs to remember that last update of rMBP was february 2013 and it'd be rare to see two updates in same year.....

That would point the possible release on february 2014 as same as this year was.

Some don't consider February 2013 to be a real update, so it's actually been more than a year since the 15" rMBP was released.

Feb 13 was a very minor spec bump -- sort of Apple's equivalent of Intel's tick-tock -- a major update, a minor spec bump, a major update, etc. We are exactly on schedule for a major update before the end of this year.

Let's say the new MBP was released today via apple stores. When would you guys think/expect outlets like Best Buy to be selling the same haswell product? Looking forward to purchasing my first "Mac."

In 2011 the MBPs got updated in both February and October. It's an 8 month cycle (Feb - Oct - June - Feb - Oct).

Oh really, and can you or the infamous avg. consumer really make use of any of those new "upgrades" yet. NO!

you just said 'avg. consumer' about a 'pro' product, wtf

802.11ac
You won't find any 802.11ac access points near you or in public places/universities etc. (Yes, you can optionally buy a 802.11ac router from apple, but think big here... how many apple customers will buy a new router together with a Haswell MBP, only a tiny fraction. Will you buy a 802.11ac TimeMachine with your new Haswell rMBP?)

It will take at least 2 years before 802.11ac will be widely available.

a pro user would require the bandwidth, most pro users run gigabit ethernet (or more) because 802.11n is way too slow

beam forming will advantage everyone - stronger signal strength everywhere in the house will be a benefit for all users

PCI-E
How will you or the avg. consumer benefit from it. Oh right, boot times will be like 1 second faster...

again, 'avg. consumer', a pro user would have many uses for a 800mb/s - 12500mb/s ssd such as: file decompression, loading large 100mb + images, loading large 2k or 4k video files into ram ...

Thunderbolt 2 <-- LOL :p

i don't understand how this is 'LOL' in any way: the mac pros have already been stated to have them, so it makes perfect sense for the other 'pro' product (rmbp) to have TB2 also. Why? Because: 4k60fps monitor support, bandwidth to NASs ...

its is quite common for video editing people (and youtubers (linustechtips)) to run 10gigabit ethernet in their setups to access the terabytes of video they have on their servers / NASs

Show me any TB2 hardware currently available (and affordable) on the market, please. THERE ISN'T. Who on earth needs TB2 if you can't use it yet?

the real 'pro' users need / would like TB2

so the left off will be release on 22 OCT.
ipad mini 2 - retina/ipad4 CPU&GPU
ipad 5 - A7 TouchID
haswell macbook pro 13" & 15"
haswell mac mini
mac pro

we all agree here ok?

and they left the spring for their entirely new device(iTV or iwatch)

To me the 802.11ac is a big deal as I already have an 802.11ac router and I hit the limits of 802.11n all the time. They say 802.11n is about 300Mb/s (450Mb/s if you have a newer Mac) but in reality? I get about 120Mb/s (16MB/s) which is slower than a USB 2.0 Hard Drive. If I'm doing time machine backups and streaming a video from my server sometimes the video will freeze for a few seconds. And if I'm using VNC at the same time that may freeze too.

And the signal isn't as great around my house as it is with 802.11ac. I have a HTPC in the living room and it gets 860Mb/s (107MB/s) transfers where as before using 802.11n it would only get 1/4th that.

The PCIe SSD is a big deal to me too, I want the fastest SSD possible. And I also want a large amount. The iMac received a 1TB SSD Stick up from the current Retina MacBook Pro's 768GB. If they bring that same 1TB to the updated Haswell models I'll be buying it.

And as if I didn't have to say it: The MacBook Pro at around $3,000 to $4,000 is not for the average consumers you keep going on about. They are buying $999 notebooks.

Your posts incite my inner rage

When was the last time, Apple announced a MBP during a keynote/event except for the new Retina? Didn't they always made silent updates shortly after or even during the keynote?

You guys are better in Apple history. Enlighten me.

The MacBook Airs are a great machine. You should buy one. Apple's profit margin is significantly higher and the Air completely satisfies the needs of 75% of the Pro base. We wait for a reason. And it isn't IGZO or Thunderbolt 2.

What are you getting at here? Have you read my previous posts? Or have you just made a random assumption? I almost bought the Air last year, but I decided I didn't really need it then so instead, I bought an iPad. Maybe I've become greedier since last year, but I really hate the Air's screen, and if got the 13-inch Air, I would probably spend as much as I would if I bought the 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro.

OMG!!!!!

THE NEW MACBOOK PRO HASWELL IS ARRIVE!!!!

->just joking<-

That was just cruel.

Honestly no I can't say anything, any of our discount, promotions, etc are Apple confidential. Yeah stuff gets put in articles and online but anything that an employee divulges can be grounds for termination. Just cause it's online doesn't mean it's true/not true. The community always knows mostly what's going to go into each iPhone, iPad, etc., but you never hear someone from Apple corporate coming out saying it's all true...they would lose their job. I happen to like my job :)

I understand. That's why people don't put their real name in usernames online.:D

When do we think the Broadwell rMBPs will be released?

End of 2014?
Early 2015?

I'm hoping mid-to-late 2014.

----------

I honestly don't know how people get hired that don't know someone already working their. They told us statistically it's easier to get into Harvard than it is to get hired at Apple. Word of advice, make friends with someone that works there.

Did you have a friend at your Apple store?

The only criteria IMO for a silent or event launch is the amount of bragging rights and not pinned down to a certain product line. I guess we'll have to remain patient until next Tuesday. If e.g. no TB2 nor IGZO nor vastly improved battery life nor redesign nor significant price reduction, then the 15th seems like an appropriate time to silent update. Then again, Apple has said battery life is a key advancement in Mavericks. TB2 and 10+ battery life marks the boxes for a event launch. It would complement the event because they can use the Mac Pro for the TB2 intro and Mavericks for the battery life improvement.

At first I read this and thought that no way would Macs lead. But Apple does tend to leave what they think is best for last and for them it's their money maker, the iPad. If this is the presentation it will be a amazing. I don't think the Mac mini will get any love on stage though.

As long as we're speculating, the MBP would definitely be before the Mac Pro. It's a bigger launch due to the total redesign. The iPads would definitely be the last products introduced.

Fair enough,

I would say closer to

10% OCT 15
80% OCT 22
10% NOV

I actually think

50% OCT 15
50% OCT 22
0% NOV

It happened plenty of times that Apple did a silent and minor update of one of their systems a week before a major announcement. Now if they release on Oct 15th then I feel like :( :( if not like

;)
