So my friend that works at Apple told me he was quitting this month before things started to ramp up and he chose October 18th as his exact day, his reasoning was that Apple tells their employees that they are ineligible to request off x thru x days as an indication of an upcoming release or demand in workforce. So I went out and he let me use his 25% off on Oct. 3rd. My money is on rMBP not seeing a silent refresh on the 15th but an all out release on 22nd. I guarantee if it is coming out this year it will be the 22nd of October. However, I could be wrong, but I was trying to tell you monkeys from the start! Some Apple employees do have a good idea of when release are imminent. My friend is a Senior Apple Advisor that works from home and he is one lazy guy, I knew he'd pull an exact date to jump ship based upon Apple's way of doing things. He told me that it is highly likely we are seeing a rMBP refresh this year as well.

I don't doubt it. I cannot see a silent release at all. Apple will do it at the event. I just really hope it is available to ship immediately.

IGZO Displays Are for Chumps!

That's right, I'm officially starting a campaign to establish as an indisputable fact that IGZO displays suck because their viewing angle performance is inferior to that of existing LTPS displays.

So now when the Haswell rMPBs are released still sporting last year's power-hungry retina displays with their class-leading viewing angles, we can all breathe a collective sigh of relief knowing that we dodged a major bullet.

Who's with me?? :p

I love this post - reality and humor all in one. :D

The XPS 15 apparently has 160 degree wide viewing angles. The highest I've seen advertised for IPS panels is 179 degrees.

This does seem to be an area where IGZO is a slight step back, but the rMBP apparently isn't the best when it comes to viewing angles either, although I couldn't find an exact advertised number. There is a dip in brightness at extreme angles.

It's a laptop. How useful would a high viewing angle be to the average consumer.

lol

IGZO is just a backlighting technology to replace LEDs. It is completely different and separate from the pixels that make the part of display that shows pictures.

I actually did semi-intense editing on Final Cut Pro on my rMBP last night and it went from 14GBs of ram free to 163mbs. That is very alarming. It was a 2 minute video with minimal editing. Everything ran smooth rendering was quick but WTF. How is it conceivably possible to only work with 8GBs of RAM. I would die.

Why is using all the memory you paid for "alarming"? I'd be more pissed if it that expensive crap just sat there... idle.

You should probably read a little about OSX's RAM management. You'll find that this is not alarming at all.

Don't you come in here talking sense? I paid for 16GB of ram so I expect to see 16GB of ram free while my machine is choking and I can't get work done!

:D

I had 24gigs in my iMac and would always push it to 22-23. So I guess I don't know why I am so alarmed. Actually out of the 15.8 that was being used my activity monitor showed that 6.81 was inactive. I still haven't figured out how to purge the inactive files to redistribute memory back to programs in need. I hate when that happens. So essentially I lost a significant amount of processing power. I wonder if this is just the norm when working with NLE's or maybe FCP in general.

Clever indeed, I do expect some word on a 4K TB2 Cinema Display to go along with the Mac Pro announcement. What would a new Mac Pro be without a awesome display to go with it?

0-14 Sales
14-25 Mavericks
25-28 MBP
28-37 Mac Pro / 4K Cinema Display
37-46 iPad sales / iOS 7
46-69 iPad 5 / Mini Retina
69-72 Cook Closing

Is it not 60 minutes?

0-12 Sales
13-20 Mavericks
21-24 MBP
25-30 Mac Pro / 4K Cinema Display
31-36 iPad sales / iOS 7 XX% updated the first two weeks and android is fragmented mixed un-updated trash & bag of hurt & iPhone 5 S/C in forty countries in october
37-38 Ridiculing "Full of Schmidt" for saying Android is safer than iPhone
39-52 iPad 5 / Mini Retina
53-56 iPad commercial
57-60 Cook Closing saying you can lick on the new iPads in lobby after this

If I can decide:
0-1 Sales
1-18 Mavericks
19-29 rMBP with TB2 and 14 hours battery, dGPU optional and more
30-42 Mac Pro / 4K Cinema Display
43-48 iWorks 14 for Mavericks
49-50 iPad sales / iOS 7 XX% updated the first two weeks and android is fragmented mixed un-updated trash & bag of hurt & iPhone 5 S/C in 40 countries in october & from now on Apple is happy with 20% profit margins on all their stuff
51-52 Ridiculing "Full of Schmidt" for saying Android is safer than iPhone
53-55 iPad 5 / Mini Retina /iPad 13
56-58 Mac Pro with 4K & rMBP commercial
59-60 Cook Closing saying you can lick on the new rMBP & Mac Pro and 4K display in lobby after this

I just received a Razer Blade in the mail today.

I wasn't planning on keeping it and I am definitely going to send it back I just wanted to try it out.

I knew I would not want to keep it because:

1. No Mac OS
2. Low Res Screen (1600x900)
3. Bad Trackpad

After using it, it definitely feels poorly made, and that Razer isn't experienced at making laptops. The fan clicks often, especially is the laptop is tilted at all.

I am also realizing the speakers are ******.
The fans are super load when playing an intense game.

I knew the laptop was .66inches thick. But after holding it in my own hands, it feels Way thicker than I imagined! and the rMBP is even thicker! It's too bad because this Razer is too thick for my tastes and the rMBP will be even more so.

I think I would love a rMBA, but I don't see that happening soon. So ill probably be getting a haswell rMBP anyways.

That's why we buy Macs. Besides, I think a rMBA is very far off. And I'd always be more interested in the Pro line anyways.

Does anyone believe Apple is that good at keeping secrets that rMBP is the only one without reliable leaks?

iPad 5 - we've seen leaks and pictures
Mac Pro - THEY told us it was coming
iPhone - we had reliable news
OSX Mav - THEY told us about it

rMBP - nothing. No reliable news, non-stop BS since February and bogus predictions made for WWDC, August, September

Not sure about leaks for iMac, but why are we still believing rMBP?

What's the reasoning besides it only makes sense? That's the line we heard several times this year.

How many people did a countdown on October 1 and then the 8th for imaginary announcements. After the letdown, some said Oct 15th before Apple had mercy on poor souls to announce their event that DOES NOT include the equipment everyone here is expecting?

This is like imagining you'll get a BMW from Santa every year and end up disappointed because you're still taking the bus.

We've seen tons of leaks and news about the rMBP. It just hasn't come recently. Besides, what leaks are you looking for?

There has been as many leaks for the iPad as there has been for the rMBP. It's not crazy at all. The rMBP has nothing more to show leaks-wise.
