That's why we buy Macs. Besides, I think a rMBA is very far off. And I'd always be more interested in the Pro line anyways.
Exactly, I knew all this going into the purchase.
I just wanted to try this thing while I am waiting for the Haswell rMBP

You're lucky. I'm an IT consultant and travel every week. I need my laptop for work. At home, I have a fairly new desktop I don't even use, but if I did not have to travel, maybe I could get by without one.
The worst part is I like to do workout DVDs in my hotel room. I can fully charge my laptop before I leave the office, shut it down completely and head back to the hotel. Change into my workout gear(mind you, the max time is 2hrs, but 1 hr is more realistic), get the tv all ready to go and the minute I hit power on the laptop, it says the battery is dead. Then I curse the heavens for not having my charger in my bag while I head down to the hotel gym.
It will be so nice to have a laptop that lasts more than 2 hours on a charge and not sometimes sound like a plane is about to take off.
So, if I'm correct, there is a possibility that we won't see a new rMBP this year?
Damn I've been waiting for such a long time, my school has already started for 1 and half month, can't wait much longer anymore. My 13" 2010 mbp is really killing me at the moment.
Can you tell me what leaks you saw for the rMBP? All I relied on was 'reliable' news from Kuo. I don't recall seeing any physical evidence at all.

It is very likely that the Haswell MBPs will be silently released on a Tuesday either this month or in November. There is a small chance that the release might be announced next year or during the October 22 event. Same for the Haswell Mac mini.
No newbie its not. Apple does not have a hard set "off the stage" time.
Last year the event went 72 mins.
If you would like to, you can go to iTunes and watch all the past events.
Apple is expected to unveil both the fifth-generation iPad and the second-generation iPad mini during an October 22 event that will also showcase other Apple products such as Mavericks and the Mac Pro.
Geekbench scores for the 13" leaked less than a week after WWDC, and the 15" followed suit about 2 weeks after that.
I was in a similar situation with my laptop. Back in June, it completely broke. I have not had my own computer since then. But my desire for the Haswell rMBP is so strong that I have waited.
Per the new story on the front page with pics of the new ipad shells..
No mention of the MBP![]()
I'm waiting since the first rMBP came out back in summer '12. First of all, back then 15" wasn't an option for me, so I waited for the 13" version, but when it came out I decided to wait for the 2nd generation retina since I didn't want to be an early adopter. My patience has been tortured like no one else

Im starting to think that we wouldnt see any rMBP this year... and that really %$%&"!$ me off!!
First world problems. *checks location*.
Just sit and be patient. Why are you worried, need the system for work?
Oh boy. You just opened the door for a bunch of people to again go on and on about how the rMBP isn't mentioned in most of the reports/articles, and therefore won't come at the event.
It's getting really ridiculous.

I really dont think we should take what AllThingsD said as a sertain.
Cos what they are saying is:
"The focal point of the gathering will be the latest updates to the companys iPad line, but the new Mac Pro and OS X Mavericks will likely get some stage time as well, "
So in other words they dont know at all.
They know that it will be a iPad focused event, but they also know that wont be all they talk about. So they say the 2 most likely candidates for mentioning on the event, which is the Mac Pro and Mavericks.
And the reason for that is cos they are the only 2 confirmed releases for this fall.
Do you get my logic here?
I really feel this is how it is, and im really not saying that just because im waiting for the rMBP. It just makes the most sense if you read between the lines and dont take every word as the law.
Wow, we're moving at a pretty fast pace here. I just got back from school, and there are 8 new pages. I guess I'll have to read them all and selectively object to other people's thought and opinions, as usual.
It's just a maintenance, when was the last time Apple released a product on a wednesday morning?
Yeah I have gotten into the habit of checking this thread after work, or after I wake up from sleeping after work. Sometimes it grows 3-4 pages!
Haha, I though for a second there that you said you check this thread after you wake up from sleeping at work.
