I'm excited to get a machine in a couple weeks! I'm still on my late 2006 laptop, so I've been waiting for a while :D What's another week or 2?

Would love to see the retina come in black or space grey, but don't think that'll happen, at least not this time around.

Except that I'm not getting it when it's released. ;)

And wait a sec, do I bug you that much? I agree with most of what you post! :D

Sorry GS--that statement came out as a snarky complaint when it was merely intended as a light-hearted groan. You're one of the good ones. :D

At this point, based on the lack of leaks, blurry pics, rumors and any sort of evidence... it wouldn't surprise me if it came all decked out with Hello Kitty stickers and a furry sleeve.

If they somehow decide to make a space gray option, it'll be a hard choice for me. It would look so cool, but my other Apple devices are all silver/white :(

This site seems to think the Haswell rMBP will have a 4k IGZO display...

http://au.ibtimes.com/articles/511781/20131007/macbook-pro-2013-sharp4k-igzo.htm

wishful thinking much? ;)

Gah!! It's already been stated numerous times that these alleged 4K IGZO won't even go into production until February 2014.

There is a *remote* chance we'll see IGZO displays on the new rMBPs--keeping the same resolution as the current crop. I say remote, because yes, there are a few other manufacturers offering IGZO displays on their Fall 2013 laptops and maybe, just maybe, Apple need these in order to bring battery performance improvements in line with the MBA.

But 4K? On a 15" laptop. No way in Hades that's happening this year.

I don't see it happening at all, I just thought it was funny. Plus if it were, Apple would be hyping it up. It's clear this event's focus is mainly iPads, Mac Pro, and Mavericks.

You could just let your older stuff get dirty... :p

The thought crossed my mind that Apple might be going all "Space Gray" (btw, I just saw "Gravity" and I'm pretty sure space is actually BLACK, but I digress...), potentially because the darker hue is closer to the colour of the raw aluminum beneath the finish, meaning that scratches would be less noticeable than they are on the current brushed aluminum/silver finish.

It would also be an easy way to add sex appeal to this refresh, considering the technical/performance improvements are not expected to be major. But something tells me that's not gonna happen just yet.

I think there is nothing left to speculate about.

And by that I mean, keep speculating about what we're already speculating about. Nothing else.

If we don't get any rMBP rumors in the next 12 days I think there are actually people from this thread who will commit suicide. I'm waiting since begin June and I'm already feeling depressed. Can't imagine how it feels to wait since February. Stay strong.

I had a dream within a dream last night... I dreamt Apple launched the new MBP and you could customize the crap out of it. If you wanted more performance and less battery life, you could choose a better GPU, you could get an IGZO screen if you wanted, you could get a thicker frame if you wanted more battery, you could even get it anodized black. It was amazing... then I woke up from the dream within the dream and started telling people how awesome my dream was. Then I woke up and I was like :(

I have a dream. I have a dream, that one day, Apple will rise up and make a rMBP that's so awesome that all posters in this thread will be satisfied.
I have a dream, that one day at the headquarters of Apple in California, sons of iGPU-lovers and dGPU-lovers will be able to sit down together at a table of brotherhood. I have a dream today.

Self-immolation in front of your local Apple Store, that will show them! :D

I'm not sure anymore if I would like to have the new rmbp to be released on this iPad, Mac Pro and Mavericks event. Because that would mean that it will just be a minor upgrade. Wouldn't it be better if they didn't release them and then we get a dedicated event for the rmbp in November instead? I mean we have been waiting for months and years now so I wouldn't mind one more month or so.

It's just not realistic; There's nothing else to add that's worth the wait right now.

IGZO is almost certainly not ready (we would have heard something about 16:10 panels being manufactured unless Apple really has locked down the Mac side of their supply chain). There aren't going to be faster CPUs or GPUs in a month. TB2 is ready now if they want to use it (it's in the Mac Pro). The SSD, wifi already are being upgraded. You could change the case but they just did that a year ago.

What I honestly do not get is that putting a new CPU into a laptop takes so long time. The Haswell was presented beginning of June. I know that this has been talked about before in this thread, but why would they wait 5 months if there is nothing else. It can't be that they waited this long just to get TB2 into it.

But you got 4 up votes for that complaint, so there must be some displeasure going on with GSPice:D. Yeah, both of you guys are some of the good members of this thread.

I've been waiting since June...2012. I broke down in October and bought a 15" cMBP but the display was so awful, much less defined and less sharp than my 2009 15" MBP that I returned it for store credit. Been waiting ever since
