Great. If CPU performance isn't compromised because they want to use better iGPU's I'm fine with it.

Why would that ruin the pixel doubling?

If Apple were to use IGZO displays they would most likely be at the same size and resolution as the current retina displays. I know that Sharp didn't announce those resolutions, but I'm sure Apple can order whatever they want.
I was talking about the 3200x1800

What's the current educated guess (I assume many of you are more clued up on reading signs with Apple than me) regarding the rMBP Haswell refresh? Thinking about parts appearing in similar PC laptops (retina screen aside) and so on.

I'm currently re-jigging finances for my usual 5-yearly Apple laptop splurge, and crossing my fingers for an update no later than October/November.

Also trying not to think about the non-upgradeable memory.

Right, but that's just the standard resolutions that Sharp has announced.

Samsung and LG didn't announce that they were making 15.4" 2880x1800 panels, Apple just contracted them to build the size and resolution that they wanted using their manufacturing technology. They would do the same with Sharp.

yeah, i think of the same too....it would probably non-IGZO panels if Sharp were to manufacture panels for rMBP just like they did for the iPad

My guess would be August-September. There are other ultrabooks that have been announced but won't be shipping until then, like the Zenbook infinity which uses a retina-like display and the 28W CPUs which are likely candidates for the 13" rMBP.

My Windows laptop just went kaput last night, it had been really struggling over the past month. Luckily I still have another computer available to use, but I'm really stretching it here.

After WWDC, I thought about the new Air. But came to the decision that I really need/want the rMBP.

I'm extremely tempted to order the rMBP right now. Anyone else decide on buy-or-wait now that it's been a week since WWDC?

Aye same here...was in a local apple store recently (for iPhone support), and after talking with a few customer reps, I think it made sense to me, that due to post back to school activities, that apple wouldn't release another updated system until at least Oct/Nov, for holiday season. What will be in the next rMBPs other than Haswell, I think is really anyone's guess. but I'm waiting...I'm waiting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEtJe_peyMw

personally i think they wouldn't release lots of stuff at the same time... ipad, iphone, and mac.

people are more likely to spend more if you spread those spendings over time, rather than buying lots of stuff at one time.

besides it won't look good on their sales reports too if they have a weak Q2 and Q3 but a very strong Q4 due to refreshing all products at same time.

If you do order one now, you should probably try getting an Apple Certified Refurbished or a new 2012 model from somewhere like MacMall.

If you get a nice discount on one it won't stung so much when they are updates.

Had the same situation,, got the rMBP 13" i7 512 :) fantastic laptop i should have done it after the Feb refresh. reasons made me do it now
1- i can't change all my home device from Wifi "n" to 'ac' in the short term,, so not benefit from the ac bump plus ac wont see light in public hotspot before at least 18 months (you can stream HD on n)
2- there is no performance gain between IB and Haswell.
3- i dont game, so the HD4000 is fine for me.
4- portable, light, 7 hours, and just need it now!!

that was my argument, and in any case its a 2 to 3 years cycle, Brodwell with 14nm architecture is a game changer, we can see quad-core in a 13" ,, but this is 2015

I agree...I just don't see the Mac Pro as anything tangible this year so that takes it out of the equation...I would think there's room for iPad/iPhone and rMBPs somewhere in Q3/Q4...If I were to wager, we'd see some type of rMBP this year, and a more substantive refresh Q2 next year with Thunderbolt 2 / 4k capability. Someone betting in vegas on Apple tech release plans? lol

Broadwell is supposed to launch in 2014, isn't it? There is nothing concrete about it yet, as far as I'm concerned, so I wouldn't expect anything. Skylane is supposed to launch in 2015, and that's a major architectural improvement. Still, Intel has consistently delayed the launch of processors, and it's pretty much possible that these processors are delayed too, just like it happened with Sandy Bridge, Ivy Bridge and Haswell...

there are actually some things that are in the wild right now, the new 9 series chipset has already been leaked, along with haswell e, now to get some of that new gpu arch to draw me in

i guess Brodwell is set to launch towards Q3/Q4 2014, that means we wont see any Mac's before end 2014 or 2015 with Brodwell.
But i agree with new eMBP end Q3 or mid Q4 this year, i mentioned earlier here in this thread, apple had "new" on the online store for the rMBP till the WWDC started, then the "new" was removed, so reading the history of apple, when "new" is removed, calculate 6 months for the product refresh, that means the Early 2013 rMBP has reach their mid life cycle, this happened with Mac's in the last 2 years AFAIK.
so to anyone is waiting, chill!! get it if you want it, and enjoy it for the next 4 to 5 months before seeing a new rMBP.,,,,, my 2 cents.

Man, where's the BTS promo?

Apple has never taken this long to announce it, literally. This is the longest Apple has ever taken.

IMO since they are taking so long with this BTS I have a hopeful feeling that they are waiting to release the refreshed rMBP with BTS, thats just me but why else would it be so delayed? Just a thought but a hopeful one :D There's not even a set date revealed yet, and usually it's like out by now.

That's what I'm thinking but ugh.. I don't want to wait anymore and I don't want to get a refurbished 15" rMBP only to have them get updated that quickly.

Personally, I'm done waiting for the Back to School Promo. I waited until today and no email advertisement or anything.. Most likely shall order my 15" rMBP later on today or tomorrow...

I just pulled the trigger last night myself on a 201315" rMBP 2.7 16GB. I already sold my mid-2010 13 MPB. There will always be updates and specials around the corner, I think I'll be good for a few years with no problems. Life's too short, you gotta enjoy it while you can!! :)
