Something interesting that someone said is that the New Zealand and Australia BTS sale ended a month early compared to last year.

Which could it will start August..? Maybe late July.

I don't mind BTS starting later if rMBP's get updated beforehand.
Gimme me my juicy Haswell crackers.

Actually I waited many months for a refresh. Was hoping for WWDC but it didn't happen. I'm not concerned about battery life or anything like that. Just wanted the second generation of the rMBP. ^ ^

I waited since February. But I will wait. I'm not spending 3K on a one-year old product. Plus temptation of much superior battery life intrigues me.

I just pulled the trigger last night myself on a 201315" rMBP 2.7 16GB. I already sold my mid-2010 13 MPB. There will always be updates and specials around the corner, I think I'll be good for a few years with no problems. Life's too short, you gotta enjoy it while you can!! :)

Exactly! I may not have a fancy Haswell rMBP... But whenever I do update again, which won't be for another 5-6 years, I'll make sure it's the latest and greatest. I'm not expecting the Haswell 15" rMBP will have that much of an update anyway.

Well more power to you for waiting! If I could, trust me, I would. But we won't see an update until October most likely. And I'll need this MBP for college...

That's exactly my thoughts. It's still going to be a killer machine for the next few years. Then you can strategically begin the waiting game for the next release while you still have a decent one :)... Can't wait to get mine - plus if anything happens in the next 30-days of receiving mine, the store manager here said I can trade it in within that window.

I've already forgotten about the update, I am enjoying this rMBP so much. There will be 50 new computers as good as the rMBP out buy the time this series is updated and you won't be able to see the forest for the trees.

Also I read this morning that Intel have leaked plans for 6-8core Haswells for 2014, moving away from 4 cores... one can only ope we see a 6 core rMBP...

I personally cannot wait for my rMBP.... I just get gitty thinking about it!!! Haven't had this feeling since my 2010 iMac. I should go to my local Apple Store and see if they shall do the same for me. Just in case if it really does update in July. XD

I shall most likely forget about the update as well... There is nothing really wrong with the current rMBP.
6 core rMBP?! That would be insane...

I've been wanting one since April, but waited for WWDC in the hope that the MBP-r would get upgraded...

Never mind. Have just placed my order today for the 13 inch with 256Gb ssd.

Will be my first mac. Hope it is better than years of windows machines.

Hmmmm....Amazon is now offering deep discounts on the high end rMBP!! Fully load is now showing a price of $2229! Dont they always do this when they are trying to rid their stock? Making room for the newer model to come?

Just went on...2.7/512/16 is $2629. Can you give a link to that one?

For many years, I was caught up in the PowerBook / MacBook upgrade cycle...it used to drive me crazy...I was a complete JUNKIE! Since then I have settled down and just use the hardware until it fails or becomes obsolete.

Good luck people! I am sure you will be feverishly clicking around on MacRumors for a few weeks/months.

Having read this I think I might settle with the haswell refresh, seems in hindsight a gigantic waste of time, pointlessly checking whats a percentage better.

Same here, hopefully Haswell will last me a good 3-5 years. Im coming from Sandy Bridge, so I expect a big jump in speed and graphics with Haswell.

6-8 cores with hyper threading?. This would mean 12-16 virtual processors!. I wonder how long would last the battery. Knowing that Jon Ive would want the rMBP with a slimmer design, he would probably remove the SSD and sells it as an external TB2 accessory in order to fit a bigger battery... :D

Pretty sure that's only for desktop processors, not mobile.

^ not to mention those are haswell-e processors. Those won't be out till 2014.

I was a bit disappointed that a refresh didn't occur last week but I assume they are waiting for the new processors with Iris that come out in Q3. That and they'll launch with mavericks. Curious to see how much extra battery they'll get this year :)

Had the same situation,, got the rMBP 13" i7 512 :) fantastic laptop i should have done it after the Feb refresh. reasons made me do it now
1- i can't change all my home device from Wifi "n" to 'ac' in the short term,, so not benefit from the ac bump plus ac wont see light in public hotspot before at least 18 months (you can stream HD on n)
2- there is no performance gain between IB and Haswell.
3- i dont game, so the HD4000 is fine for me.
4- portable, light, 7 hours, and just need it now!!

that was my argument, and in any case its a 2 to 3 years cycle, Brodwell with 14nm architecture is a game changer, we can see quad-core in a 13" ,, but this is 2015

Good points. Like some people, I've already been waiting a couple months in anticipation of a June refresh at WWDC. I might just try to hold out a little longer, but who knows.

for me that 12h battery usage probably for the next 15" rMBP, the graphic cards, the ac wifi and probably the next maveriks for free if you buy a new mac is a game changer for mee

I really don't think they're waiting for Maverick. They are just going to give it as a free upgrade. I'm hoping the release would be Mid-July~August. Those are my suspect time frames.

Remember Intels quarters are calculated on business quarters. Q3 starts in July and ends in September, we might be able to see some chips by my estimated time frame, hence why I've predicted it. I highly doubt they'll be released in Q4, but don't quote me on that.

:)

I think it's either July or we'll have to wait until sometime in September or even October. Isn't August usually a very slow time for Apple? Have they updated anything recently in the month of August?

they are waiting probably for MAC day..to announce the mac pro , the upgrade for retina macbook pro and the upgrade for imac (probably retina?), so they will have the keynote probably with ipad like last year

My first Macbook was an 13"MBA 2011. I used it for a year and then gave it to the wife in December. I thought about replacing it with the new MBA, but think I'd rather have the rMBP. I'll only get the 13" for portability, but would like it to have as much graphics grunt as possible. So I'll wait for the new release, whenever that is, then pounce.

Cheers,
PS

Could be September, I think October is kind of late, I wouldn't say impossible but it could be. I'd rather see Apple pushing haswell out as soon as the chips are available rather then waiting till their later events. I think the update won't have an event. We will see an iPhone event in September which introduces iOS 7 alongside iPhone 5S and the cheaper line of iPhones. October event could be iPad and iPad mini, and maybe Mac Pro with Maverick release? Prediction nevertheless, but I see a July~August silent refresh which will co-aside with BTS.
