I'm very excited for Haswell-based rMBP's. I'm really hoping for a good battery life increase, as well as better graphics in the 13-inch model. I'm currently saving up for one and I can hardly wait.

Nope, had my return date extended by the manager, that way I still have a laptop (albeit slightly faulty) until the new rMBP's are in. Fingers crossed!

:apple: iPhone 5 32GB White, rMBP 13" i5/8/256GB, iPad 3 16GB, iPod 5.5G 240GB, Shure SE425's :apple:

I had my return date extended by the manager as well. I ordered my build to order rMBP from the Apple Online store and received it on September 26th.

There is a brand new store that just opened nary my house. I explained the situation to the manager and he assured me it would not be a problem to return it after October 22nd.

Let's hope the Haswell rMBP is at least announced.

I don't know weather I should wait for the new rMBP or buy a MBA.

I want to use Bootcamp-Windows via VMWare Fusion to do some Matlab and Word stuff. Would be the possible 8GB RAM of the MBA enough for that or would it be slowed down too much?

At the Moment I use my late 2006 MBP with 3GB RAM and I always have to use Windows 7 natively with BootCamp and that isn't fun at all.

On the one hand there is the cheaper MBA with the best configuration. But then I would need an additional thunderbolt display for working at home.
On the other hand there is the retina resolution of the rMBP?! hmmm

I will definitely buy a new MacBook, but the question is, which one?!

Any suggestions?

I'd wait a week, so that if the new one comes out, you can compare it with the air, rather than the current model.

Wait and see. You don't want to have any regrets, especially being 1 week away from a potential announcement.

I think, if the cheapest configuration of the new rMBP with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD has a similar price like the best MBA I'll take the rMBP.

Okay, let's wait and see, what the next week will bring us.

At bh audio video...the price of the cheapest rMBP 15.4" is 1999 $. And the best MBA is 1850 $. I think if the new rMBP with the pre-mentioned configuration is max. 2200 $ there, I would buy it. Do you think that's realistic?

Yes. It's just kind of strange to compare them that way - or I'm not seeing the point.

Let's hope not. While there's no evidence saying next week, we could at least be positive, right?

If we have to wait that long, we might as well just wait for Broadwell then, right?

Maybe their skipping Haswell and going straight to Broadwell?

So I assume you want a 15" model.

How much is the configuration you want currently? The RAM and SSD upgrade should be about the same cost. The laptop itself should be a few bucks cheaper based on the rumors.

ok, just received a ping from my store manager.
he said that the rmbp will be released next Tuesday.
